Why do/ don’t you like/play dungeons and trials

I like dungeons and trials, because I like game combat and mechanics, and because they are challenging. Although grinding the same instance for a specific piece of gear can be gruelling, but when it's done for the fun and challenge of it, then thay're my favourite type of content.

As a PVP player, my 'jack of all trades' character doesn't excel well in group content, so I don't want to be a hindrance.

I suppose I might force myself to recalibrate my character if the rewards were good but they aren't most of the time. As for fun factor, after completing a dungeon or trial once or twice, its just going through the motions of whatever puzzle gimmick the fight throws at you.

The dungeons and trials are mostly fun to pass the time. Only the vet DLC and HM’s are where anyone is really grinding because the content is harder.

I end up running the easy trials often to outfit other players with gear so that they can progress to the hard stuff. I don’t mine running Cloudrest 3 or 4 times in a row to get someone outfitted with the gear because they are trying DPS, Heals or tanking for the first time and need the sets. I will give away all my FG and Yolna when running Sunspire because people need it more than me. I will run Arx 5 times in a row with that guild mate desperately trying to get that Medusa inferno staff or Frostvault 3x per day for 2 weeks because someone needs a dagger for their WW build.

I pug on 4 toons daily for transmute stones and for the most part I find them fun. Sometimes you get bad groups, sometimes very good groups. I’ve even picked up some new guild mates on pugs. The players asking questions and wanting to learn the game mainly. These are generally good people to pick up and help teach more about the game. Yes I could solo many of these dungeons or grab some current guildies for a speedrun, but I still find pugs fun.

Dungeons and trials are the best part of ESO with a premade group and people you know.

Dungeons and trials are the worst part of ESO with randoms.

Definitely this, but that said I've had some really good, successful times in dungeons and trials with randoms, too.

It's just way less common and I'd never run the hard content with an entire pug if I could help it mostly because the risk of having A Real Bad Time is way higher.

Also this. I enjoy helping people farm stuff and in most cases I also genuinely enjoy the content, so that's a bonus.

After a few years, the whole meta-driven, avoid one-shots, stay-out-of-stupid, finger gymnastic design approach just stopped feeling like fun. It's like how many ways can you cook pasta and tomato sauce, throw it together, and call it something new? I still occasionally have fun with the right group, but that has more to do with the social dynamics of the group as opposed to the repetitive mechanical dynamics of the content...which for the most part tends to be very formulaic and lacking creativity.

It was refreshing to play some other games recently and find myself excited and cheering the experience. It brought home that the predominant feeling I have in ESO is one of annoyance. I think time, grind, repetitive content, game design decisions, and pitiful customer relations from ZOS, caused an attrition of what I consider enjoyable. :/

I'll do normal non-DLC dungeons with pug groups. Anything vet or normal DLC, I never pug anymore. Too many people who don't know what they're doing, are unwilling to listen or unwilling to explain.

The last trial I've done was sometime after the Scalebreaker update, cuz the PvE guild I was in disbanded. I had a lot of fun progressing through vet trials HM with them as well as doing dungeons for skins and achievs.

I had been looking for another guild but I... kinda... wussed out? Partly cuz I'm rather insecure and partly cuz healers seem to be unnecessary. I respecced my Warden main to tank for a while to try that out and actually feel like a part of the group, but it didn't exactly work out. So I'm back to healing and occasionally being a Mag DPS.

I've just been pugging dungeons ever since, being a loner. There are times I would like to join a guild again, but I'm not sure anymore... :/

It's the only way of getting a challenge in the game outside of soloing world bosses.

After completing the dungeon, I wish there is a story mode option so we can go over the scenes and dialogues that were missed from ALL THE RUNNING.

I occasionally wander into dungeons either for the discovery or skyshard, but I have no interest these days in group and/or competitive content and prefer to log in at random times for random duration and doing whatever I fancy in my own time and style. In part it's an age thing, in part it's a simple case of moving on from the earlier MMO days when I played with a greater emphasis on the social aspect. These days I much prefer solo and cooperative play to guilds and groups.

I only do dungeons and trials if I need something from them. Once I have my achievements and gear I do not return unless I absolutely have to.

I don't MIND doing base game dungeons, some are actually fun. It's DLC Dungeons that I find annoying. Primary reason I don't want to learn mechanics beyond learning my rotation, getting better at LA weaving, and staying out of stupid. What I don't like are all the one-shot avoidance mechanics that come with the DLC dungeons.

It's like driving a car. I enjoy the basic mechanics of driving, and over time, learning to drive well. What I don't want to do is learn how to drive formula 1 racing cars and compete as such.

As for Trials, I can take them or leave them ... Mainly leave them as they require too much time dedication. I don't want to leave my guildies high and dry but, inevitably, once I start a trial, my wife comes in and needs my help with something. I've run Sunspire three times with my guild and they've graciously given me enough gear for basic Magicka user setups. Eventually I will do the same for some other gear to try, but only enough to get the gear then back to questing.

PVP? ... No thanks, just Sadists and Masochists over there, lol.
Fix Wrothgar Relic Hunter for Pete's Sake! ... Until then ... ZOS=POS

I would like to pug, my because of physical limitations, the days when I can use 2 bars are rare. I have basically 1 heal, 1 buff, 3 damage skills, 1 potion and an ultimate tbat I can get off maybe 25 percent of the time on first try. I can solo the easiest normal dungeons but it is slow because I have really low DPS.

In dungeons, maybe, re: healers, but definitely not with trials. There's always a place for healers in trials. If you want to pug dungeons but don't want to go in as solely a healer, I'd suggest slotting some DPS skills and making yourself a bit of a hybrid, so you're still a healer but can contribute DPS too if that's what you're worried about.

For me questing is just so mundane and monotonous in terms of gameplay (love the storylines though. Seriously ESO has quality side quests)

But dungeons and trials are just so mechanically engaging, it's exactly what I want to see in the Main Story Bosses

They keep me on my toes, they provide enough challenge for me and my friends, it encourages co-op (which is supposed to be the main selling point of an MMO), they have a wonderful level of love & care put into them and I almost never get tired of bosses because like I said - they make me pay attention. Their entrances are often epic and so is the fight.

I was thinking about quitting ESO because I had a hard time at first getting into dungeons but then the group finder came out and it changed everything. I am addicted to the dungeons in ESO.

Because it is challenging content that I can play with friends / others.

While I dislike meta, and actively avoid creating meta builds, I do like to see how effective my builds can be and trying them in higher level content.
