Voidmother Elgroalif world boss - Four Skull Lookout

ZoS could you pls explain the intention of this boss? If you do a standard kill while she spawns round after round adds, it is not added to the achievements.
Someone said you need to wait and keep killing adds until she spawns some other boss, but no matter how long you stay to repeatedly try to defeat her, there is always someone who does not read chat and finishes the boss before you have the chance to even see if something else is spawned.
So.. is this a bug and you can kill the voidmother whenever, or is it a mechanic and you have to wait until all add phases are done?
