Block broken?

I recognize since a while, that my char cant block pretty often.
my mouse is okay, its also on the right key. I also can breakfree and do that blockhit thing. It just doesnt block.
And it isnt visual, definitely not.....i cant be the only one. or am i missing out something? a change or so?

edit: also only relogging fixes it.

I've noticed recently that my block often does not work and when it does it is delayed.

Also noticed this since couple days ago, it's pretty annoying. Have trouble flipping bar mid fight now and there - it takes multiple presses of key to flip. Wonder if it could be related?

Block is so ****** lately.

I was soloing fungal 1 HM, last boss. 1000 hp left. Decided to block instead of roll dodge to finish it faster.

Waited on the attack to come as I held block

Block didn't register

4.1 million HP I had to start over with

Forget tanking Vet DLC or trials.

The desynch on block (and delay on abilities in general) is too much for the server to handle.

I'm back to questing now, it's all the game server can handle.
End game content is like rolling the dice and hope their server can last for the next 20 minutes.

It's not desynced for me or at least what I am talking about. I know about the desync, and if I was complaining about that I would mention that.

I am saying: my char sometimes is locked into not beeing able to block. Not even if I hold the block up for minutes with nothing around me happening. My char just doesn't. And that's no desync, that's a bug. Something seems to break the blocking ability, but I wasn't able to find out yet what happens to provoce this.

Do you mean the thing where you're pressing block, but your character just stands there doing nothing - like your character is frozen? If yes, then yep that's annoying and has been around for awhile.

There are certain bosses where this is evident such as the 2h Ilambris boss in CoH.

Yes, this has been happening for a while, usually bar swapping or dodge rolling fixes it, but it can be annoying when this happens when you have to block.

@ZOS_GinaBruno maybe the team could look into this bug, please?

Block fails often for me but so do other actions, skills and bar swap. Mobs commonly appear rather confused mid fight. Also quest objectives (lately done a lot for skill points) are randomly delayed long enough I miss em and have to backtrack later.

Nothing different from usual gameplay quality in ESO.

Yes you are missing something. Blocking costs stamina at the point of impact. If you don’t have enough stamina at the time of impact you pick yourself up off your butt. Unless you use a frost staff, in which case blocking costs magical but the same rules apply.

I tried a lot, when it occurs this evening again I will check dodge rolling and bar swapping, but from my memory all these things didn't help me, tries a lot even changing the block key to another and back in the setting, opening champion system which tends to fix a lot lol, and other stuff. After all I only came along with relogging (reload ui isn't the helper here). And this makes it mega annoying.

Yes you are missing something. Blocking costs stamina at the point of impact. If you don’t have enough stamina at the time of impact you pick yourself up off your butt. Unless you use a frost staff, in which case blocking costs magical but the same rules apply.

They reworked block it's RNG now. Joking aside the rework made it even more unreliable. Really upsetting to play tank and this be what we're dealing with. First time tank fails because block doesn't work is when I get on my bugged out NB that can't ever seem to go hidden so permacloak builds are the only way to ensure survivability. Oh yeah they also messed with dodge roll too do that now it's even harder to vigor or take a potion. Not real sure why all this is going this way?

Recognized that on monday during some bgs, I blocked with full stamina (block animation showing, no delay or unresponsivess) yet was dropped from 100-0 in 2-3 seconds from one guy (which is kinda unusual). I was wondering how that could happen and after checking recap, cmx and recount it was obvious that the game was treating all incoming dmg as unblocked, despite the block animation being clearly up...

Not sure whats wrong, but it seems to be a recently introduced issue, not related to the usual mess that block is since rework.

Indeed. Since ZOS' reworked blocking a few patches ago into a mess,
blocking is now so unreliable that in vDLC
Heavy Tanks have to dodge-roll around to avoid one-shots.

Happen many time to me too.
I usually only block HA and block on last moment, since some time I need to block way before to not get kill, pretty annoying..
I've change 3 sturddy in well-fitted, seem more safe to me.

Did vBC2 with my tank today. 3dd run without healer. At the daedroth boss, I held block and dmg just passed through me without any mitigation and killed me.

Yeah, block is bugged and there is a pretty high chance it wont register at all.
