so 28 tickets to assemble the entire motif? (excluding the tickets spent that give other collectibles and not the chapters)
This is VERY unfair to new players. The Happy Work For Hollowjack achievement is required for the Witches Festival Meta An Unsparing Harvest.
Already the extra chapters from previous years are posting on the guild stores for outrageous amounts considering they are a holiday motif during the holiday!
Please put the Hollowjack motif chapters back into the purple plunder skulls. Us veteran players can deal with the slew of unwanted motifs and then new players can actually experience the event as it was meant to be. Killing things for skulls, collecting things and getting your meta achievement done!
Other thoughts on the Grab Bag:
I also think the Skeletal Marionette pieces, which also have a linked achievement, though not related the meta, should drop from the plunder skulls. It is very unfair to ask players to spend their tickets on things that are needed for the achievement. I originally wasn't against this one because "For this event, a Grab Bag can contain Hollowjack Motif pages, the Skeletal Marionette memento, Apple-bobbing Cauldron fragments, and the Spectre Mask collectibles." the way the announcement phrases it the entire Skeletal Marionette drops, not its fragments - I guess fragments make sense but then again right above the Grab Bag is the new memento for 5 tickets which is also a collectible of 10 fragments...vs 20 tickets and rng for the skeletal marionette fragments. The Fragment ones should either not be in the grab bag at all, in the grab bag as the "whole' memento or in the Impressario as the whole memento. The masks make sense in a grab bag I guess...but I think it is simpler if everything is in the store for flat ticket rate and not rng to get the piece you want.

Not baffling at all. You can buy as many tickets as you can carry in the Crown Store!
Of course, you can still buy the entire motif set (for millions of gold) from players, so no one can claim it's completely locked behind a paywall.

I bought 4 bags and only got 2 motif pages - the other two had an apple bobbing piece, a marionette piece and a pumpkin mask. So I think it is much worse than 28 tickets for everything.6 -

Agree completely with OP - since it's an achievement (holiday/festival) it can only be completed with the full hollowjack motif set which makes it punitive beyond belief for newer players or those seeking to fill out achievements on other characters.
The stuff that dilutes the drop table is the completely useless, inventory-hogging rubbish that can only be vendored - please ditch that pointless trash instead.15 -

The regret has been real seeing this fugly motif selling for 60k+ per piece and the prices rising steadily each day.1 -

Hollowjack pages are so prevalent that they sit in traders for months, not moving even when priced at 1k each. The grab bag ensures a player gets a motif piece they’re missing and cuts down on the Hollowjack clutter. Besides, 4 years in now and there are way too many legacy Witch Fest and New Life Fest items for drops and too many players who don’t need them.
The changes make Hollowjack slightly scarcer and allow all players to focus on the newer, more desired stuff. New players, you’ve missed out by virtue of not having played the last few years. Happens all the time. You still can’t get Jubilee cakes from years past.5 -

It'd work better if they replaced Hollowjack with a new motif in the plunderskulls. But since they didn't, we're now getting less value per skull than previous years. There isn't a replacement motif to focus on.

Well, if you've kept them for years, may as well keep them a while longer. Imagine how much they will be worth NEXT year.... or even longer out! Like those Jaedi and Lire runes or the mercenary contracts people held on to after they were discontinued.... they sell for millions each.

Check again, they didn't so you lost nothing. They were an annoyance and such an inventory filler that a lot of people only did enough to get their daily tickets to avoid having to destroy half your inventory.
Though now, if it's true their price is rising, you could have gained a lot if you did keep them. But this is completely different from the value last year, then we got trash now we get trash.0 -

✭I'd be happy to never see another Hollowjack page again, but removing an item that's tied to an achievement and effectively paywalling it is disgusting. My daughter was asking how to get the pages and I said 'no worries, I'll buy the bits you're missing from the guild traders' LMaO. There were so many better ways of doing this, put them in the purple skulls instead of the vendor trash (which is pretty much all I'm getting from those), since the vendor trash just exists to dilute the loot table anyway. Put the whole motif book/memento in the Impressario for 10 tickets or whatever, or simply unlink the motif requirement from the achievement. Also 2 tickets for 1 memento fragment is insane, given that you could buy the whole thing for 5 tickets.
It's supposed to be a fun festival, but now it's just another money grab. It's soured the whole thing for me tbh, I'm not fussed about the new stuff that drops and I can't grind skulls to help out people that don't have the motif yet, which is what I've done in past years. The drop rate of the witches writs is terrible this year too.PC EU & NA2 -

In order to get the spooky witches coven house you need the achievement. In order to get the achievement you need to have learned all the hollowjacks.
I have this on my primary account and I am not so worried about the second account. BUT. To get the house and achievement you are now making a choice between using event tickets to get the red indrex or a chance at a hollowjacks motif page. In order to improve your chances you can buy extra tickets.
This is a little sad for newer players, if it was me I would feel a little put off by the process and feel slightly used.
I kind of agree with the "10 tickets" = whole book approach. A direct choice between mount or motif.
Still there is always next year. (or not depending on just how upset you get from this and other marketing decisions).

✭No, please don't put the Hollowjack style back in the plunder skulls. I, for one, am happy not to be getting inundated with it. I wish they'd done the same with the Dremora motif, and hope they do the same with the skinchanger one.
I do agree the full motif should be available from the Impresario though. Maybe do it the same way as one of the ones you can get from Rolis.

Yes it may mean people can't buy everything every event, but so be it. There will be future Witches festivals at which more can be purchased. Or for 250.crowns you can buy a ticket2 -

You can say the same for Dremora, that motif has been plugging up the guild stores for two years, all have been sitting at or below 1k. They could have at least put them in her menu for purchase directly, make it bound, should do the same with Dremora.0 -
