Stop nerfing sets and fix the game already

well to come back to topic:

the initial request by the OP definately makes sense, the option to refund the crafting mats.

ZOS has actually implemented it on the PTS for the sets you clone from existing sets using transmutation crystals.
Deconstructing them again, gives back 25 of the 25 to 50 (or 75? Am on console so cannot check myself) crystals you needed for construction.
The next logical step would be to extend this at least to the most expensive mats, gold and platinum.

Such a step would not only be a "compensation", but furthermore might encourage players to try out and change sets more often.

I get why they need to nerf certain sets like Sheer Venom, but over 2K less damage on the proc? That's a bit too much.

Not enough if you ask me. Sheer venom should only proc on melee executes and be limited to 1 stack/enemy. The proc condition is still a big problem since it's too easy to proc.

Can you stop nerfing all my sets that I've golden out and barely played a month with?
Can you focus on fixing the bugs that people have complained about for years?
When can we expect refunds on nerfed sets?

This is unacceptable, we've spend time and resources into the game, we've wasted time which is something you can't give back, atleast let us be able to deconstruct our nerfed sets for a period of time and give us all the invested materials and transmute crystals back.

    I agree.

@ZOS_GinaBruno any chance to alleviate the growing pains?

I understand mmorpg's grow, change, "balance"....but this is getting absurd. I won't even chase the carrot all the way, gold out weapons and I'm done....too damn expensive in this ZOS enviroment atm.

Please let us opt for a full material refund on changed sets for a set period after change.

She doesn't really engage in conversations from what I've seen.

The OP is right the bait and switch is getting ridiculous. All new sets should not leave PTS until they are 'balanced'. Having to farm for new sets for days, then use them for a while and like them, then gold them, only to have them get Nerfed (cuz a bunch of mid level PVPers are getting their butts kicked because they have been duped by 'elite' players into thinking stat/dmg stacking and button smashing is only way to be 'skilled', while 'elite' players always use the most effective sets/skills and laugh at the mid level dudes for believing them.)

On a positive side the new crafting/collection system should make farming new sets less painful but just don't gold out you gear unless you have spare mats.

You're not counting the set's internal execute mechanic

I think they purposely make new sets superior to bring people to the new areas then later on they nerf them back to normal

Some of these nerfs and game balance changes are indeed what they say. Most, however, have little to do with that. Some are aimed at reducing server workload. Most, however, are aimed at the almighty stickiness metrics - the KPI.

Stickiness and value are measured in KPIs (key performance indices) of DAU/WAU/MAU (daily average users, weekly average users, monthly average users). Every game, every commercial website, most all online content for that matter seeks to boost their KPIs.

Classic ways for online games to do that are:

    • Daily login rewards

    • Special Events

    • Regular incremental game changes aimed at making players change their builds every few months. These are not really balance changes as they say. Rather they’re meant to change the game enough to make you adjust to them (DAU/MAU) without breaking the game.

    • Housing. Another non-community building tool to improve the metrics.

And it worked. ESO was perhaps the least sticky MMO on release. It has a huge player base now. But it’s not the sort of community-based game that earlier MMOs were when bandwidth was the largest fixed cost of operating them.

Combat and gear changes don't just address KPIs. They also encourage content creators who make their living selling builds and such. They need the game to change to make a living.

With all due respect here (because this may come across kinda sh***y), anyone who's played an MMO should know that literally anything can be nerfed into the ground or buffed into OPblivion at any time.

Balance is tricky, and it becomes even trickier when new gear sets are being introduced every few months.

The only thing in an MMO that stays the same is the fact that nothing ever stays the same.

It sucks, though. I feel your pain and totally agree that it's a smack in the face. Just gotta learn how to roll with those smacks because they ain't going anywhere.

If it were all about balance, I'd agree with you. But, as I noted, it's not.

Nonetheless, you're right about the chief aim of MMOs - and perhaps a chief factor in the death of MMOs - is to prevent you from thinking, been there, done that.
