That's what's going to happen everytime you take a break.
It's stupid we don't have an auction house.

On the other hand, gold is pretty easy to make in this game (unlike WoW and RIFT) so you won't have to be broke forever. Of course that depends as well on your platform and server - if you're on PC NA, stuff is relatively affordable on the traders; if on consoles/EU, not so much.
I find it much easier to make gold in wow than ESO.
Before I figured out the GAH in wow, it was really painful - not much gold. But that was more than a decade ago so things might be different now.
I have played wow every year since launch. I have played ESO since I think 2016. At no point in my ESO time has gold every been easier to make than in wow. Even vanilla wow was easier to make gold and all I did was PVP which does not make you gold.
I much prefer wow's system for making gold than ESO.
How easy does it really need to be? I can make a million gold coin in a day just about any time I want. Just selling stuff I find while doing what I like to do in the game I normally hit over 100k gold a week. I'm in a trade guild that has a 3,000 gold donation requirement a week.
Wow!!! See, I have been playing for a few years and I am lucky if I have more than 200k between bank and pocket. The unguilded are left hanging.
I was in a top trading guild for a long time. It dissolved as the officers found real life was getting in the way of properly running the guild. On an aside the amount of time guild leaders put into a successful trading guild is amazing. Back to the topic I decided to take a break from trading for a while when that guild dissolved.
When I decided I wanted to trade again it took me maybe 15 minutes of searching for a trade guild and applying. I was in the next morning. If the trade guilds were all full with players waiting for an open spot I would see the need for something to happen. More traders available would be my preferred fix. As I see what I know are top trading guilds advertising for new members all the time I don't think there is a problem inside the game. I understand people not wanting to join guilds but that doesn't mean there is a problem with how the game works.
