Nope. If you're engaging enemy players, you're actively stopping them from taking/protecting said objective. Which is a part of objective based pvp.

No. It is not against the ToS as others have said. While it is not doing as much to help your team win you are not doing anything that is a violation of the ToS.

It's not against but if you are not pvp god it's better to stick with teammates and help objectives. Trying to 1v1 at the corner of the map during chaosball mode will not help your teammates.

Absolutely man. When the team is legit and play together i stick with them. Most often however my teammates are scattered or/and dont play to well and i dont want to babysit them.

No. But I would appreciate you taking yourself to Cyrodiil and not ruining my BG experience for me. Nothing more annoying than 30 KB guy in a 3rd place non-deathmatch BG. But you had fun so all good.

If you want to just kill people at least do it around the objectives. Seen this way too much.

It is not against the TOS, but it is a strange way of playing BG's. What is the point in going around and killing people, while losing the BG?!? It is not strange some people get pissed off because of it, since they are probably doing the BG for the daily bonus.

I have seen streamers do this as well: "Ohw look how awesome my PvP build is!"... and then lose the BG.

Players not doing BG objectives look like complete fools to me.

PS: Thinking you are easily able to kill people in non-deathmatch BG's doesn't fly, as most players run to the objectives and just ignore other enemy players in between.

Read the ToS yourself. And start queueing for death matches or go to Cyro if you want to play that way.

It is most definitely against TOS. As they do in all other game zones, ZOS Gamemasters painstakingly monitor every player in every battleground match to ensure they play the objectives correctly. Any violators are noted, and extensive files are kept. Repeat offenders may face severe repercussions, such as frustrated players threatening to report them, and bored forum posters trolling them. Don’t become one of the many unfortunate players to fall into this trap!

Not against the TOS to go afk in the corner and collect your last place AP to get back the Rapids ZOS ganked from you, either.

I don’t play bgs, so my opinion here is admittedly not very meaningful, but this thread is the perfect example of why I will never play bgs so long as they don’t allow pre-made groups.

No choice when you end up on the short end of 2v4v4 in chaos ball. Might as well do something!

I've had matches of chaos ball where someone would go 30-3, and wouldn't grab the ball once. But you know what else, we typically held the ball for 85-90% of the match and won by a massive lead. Dead enemies can't play objectives either.

@Everest_Lionheart Fun story, this is actually how my "solo career" started. When i first entered BGs i was super motivated to be a teamplayer and did all in my power to help out. Then i was placed in teams with 2-3 players, and it kept happening over and overagain. We often stood no chance to win - at all. Other times my team would just spread out and not listen when i tried to coordinate our group.

At some point i went "[snip] this , if i go solo i cant ever lose*. Been doing that ever since. I can be the only person in the group and still get what i want out of a game.

I love getting chaos ball while leveling stuff in random bgs.
You can literally just play it as kill anyone that moves near the ball that isn't on your team, if you can kill you will probably win.
No lie I have sat near a ball just killing people that are not on my team trying to pick it up.
Oddly people often hyper focus on the ball and seem to just let you kill them and then get annoyed, lol.
One thing to remember the objective is also to prevent the opposite teams from fulfilling the objective.
A dead opponent cant capture flags, hold points, pick up a ball.
Chasing people down that are trying to do an objective and killing them preventing such and allowing your team to more easily fulfill the objective is actually incredibly viable tatic to win since group bgs were eliminated.

There are exceptions, this would be one of them. But I think you know this is not where the complaint is.

I play a lot of BG's and I don't know why everyone gets so worked up about them. Sometimes you get a great team, you stick together and get it done with next to zero communication.

If you find yourself with a bad team you have two choices: leave or ride it out and try to find enjoy killing your opposition. Do not start ranting in party chat telling everyone their noobs etc...

I always try to do the objective and normally hold the chaos ball longer or capture more whatevers than my team mates. I will at the very least kill the enemy players near the objective😂 I have zero patience for the BG tyrant who is normally the weakest link and tries to justify their poor performance on everyone else.

Sorry for the rant, I just needed to get that off my chest 😳

I guess you'll find out? I'm sure they don't act on everything immediately, I mean it takes a couple of days to get the first response from them sometimes, so who knows. If nothing ever comes of it you'll know it's not a problem.

There've been a few BGs I've played where so many weren't focused on the actual objectives that it became clear we'd have absolutely no way of winning. And at that point it's like, "ok, so why are you here if the win conditions apparently mean nothing to you?"

So after that, at the start of every BG, I'll say "ok, if anyone's new here, THIS is the objective, and THIS is how you complete that objective." Most of the time the response is silence, but I've had a few players thank me *because* it was their first time playing that ruleset.

Of course, the players who stand at the spawnpoint and dance for the whole round can eat a bag of...chips. Chips is the word I definitely intended to say there. >_>
