Stadia is killing this game

I am aware that it is not the decision of the game developers or Gina but this Stadia deal is crap. There at least 3 broken quests and numerous bugs or breaks to skills that can't be fixed because of the "Have to give Stadia two weeks notice about changes." If you aren't allowed to fix game breaking bugs in a timely fashion in your own game the deal with Stadia needs a hard look. I am aware that it takes time and testing and we all complain about bugs and fixes but things that were hot patched or fixed at weekly maintenance before taking as much as three weeks (or more) because of an outside company wanting to then recheck your work and needing that much notice is dumb and making ZoS look bad.

I thought Stadia users shared the PC mega servers. I know that the 2 week thing is the deal with consoles, but wasn't aware Stadia was following suit with that... but I'm still confused how it's possible if the Stadia client logs into the PC servers; I mean, you're just streaming the client back to your PC, but it is the PC version installed remotely at the end of the day. Does that mean for PC users, we have to wait 2 weeks for Google to review the patch going into ZOS' own servers? I'd expect it's more that ZOS have a regular schedule to push updates that Google is aware of and any deviation from that requires 2 weeks advanced notice.

But if this is intended to work as 2 weeks against PC, the knock on there is an additional 2 weeks for console ontop of the cool off period we already get.

That is why PC has gone to an every-other-week maintenance schedule. The weekly maintenance routine was up-ended by Stadia's inclusion.

    It sucks.

However, ZOS said they can still perform hotfixes when needed, and can attempt to work with Stadia when emergency situations arise.

For serious issues, I am confident that Zos is permitted to do emergency patches. Also, while it may be an inconvenience it is not killing the game. This is something consoles have had to deal with all the time and that has not lead to the death of the game on consoles.

And who knows, it may even improve the quality of the work having an external agency review the changes... or not 🤷

So pc is like console now? Maybe we can start getting dlc at the same time now!

While I'd like to agree with you on this, the fact is that gap closers not working in Imperial Sewers during an event designed for Imperial Sewers I think warranted an emergency patch.

Gap closers haven't worked right in IC since update 27. If you relog it seems to help most of the time.

Support person's comment in the last ticket: "You mentioned you are stuck in Wrathstone, no worries!", the person either intentionally understood my clear message wrong or then simply cannot quite read well enough to understand, I bet it's the first option. Wow, that sucks. Hopefully they resolve your problem, but very unlikely after this long. They are definitely overdue for some training when it comes to customer service, mods, and coders.

It sure does suck indeed, my Xbox EU cp 1575 account is quite expensive overall, I've played for over a year on Xbox NA cp 1282 account. I finally decided to cancel my eso+ membership 4 days ago after all these years, this wasn't planned or what I wanted, but while EU account still unfixed and the game getting more laggy ang getting all these other fun features all the time, I felt it was the only right move now. Over a year ago support told they are aware of the kind of problem I have and few others had it also, now the tone has changed quite much and feels like there's completely new and different people at support, the results with my multiple support tickets have been still the same. I'll probably keep on having the ticket games to see what's the next counterquestion, I don't believe they can fix it or even much bother trying, it feels like they just delay and hope it suddenly starts working after some patch so they can avoid all their responsibilities if there even is any. Someone mentioned on the Xbox technical support section having similar problem for about 2 years, this was over a year ago so most likely the player has simply given up long ago and the problem kind of solved. As I've informed support and the community manager before, I'll contact Microsoft and put the whole episode on other forums, I have some interesting material and someone might be interested. Must admit I'm very disappointed long term customer.

What? Lots of the move to client side was to address cheat engines that made PC servers unplayable?

Yes the game has been tweaked to run on stadia, but I can't understand how anyone can say "kill stadia".

Stadia makes one of the best MMO's available on the most popular gaming device, mobile phones. Already we are seeing droves of new and returning players preferring to play ESO like a mobile game. The stadia release was easily ZOS most uncomplicated release to date even if it had far last hype.

"Kill stadia" because it may slightly delay hotfixes? Surely you see the many advantages of having more platforms and players? Even if you don't want to try playing on your mobile (I recommend it, it feels like a new game), it barely impacts your game, but will improve your game overall by keeping the number of paying customers high.

Oh you are absolutely right ZOS massively failed on the PC and console launch, and they are too slow fixing bugs..

But the stadia release makes ESO arguably the best mobile MMORPG released to date. That's a pretty good achievement for a game this old!

        I fully agree with this.

Though yes @Jim_Pipp it does broaden the audience that can access it, I wholeheartedly agree this is a great thing.

I think it is also safe to assume that the changes made for U25 including the reduction of the client size was in preparation for Stadia. This was sold as part of the performance schedule, but in fact was a massive amount of client side calculations sent server side most likely to optimise Stadia's performance. The game's performance took a massive dive as a result and I don't believe it has made a difference to cheating as this is accessed via the memory. Looking at a site that sells software that allows cheating in ESO I can see it had no downtime during the inception of U25.

This is also why I feel there was so little communication from the devs despite the overwhelming amount of threads raising it as issue.

Another platform is a fantastic thing, but not at the expense of the games performance or your current customers experience. My issue is not with a new platform, nor the change in maintenance schedules. I am unhappy about what feels like a very greedy decision, implemented via deception rather than honesty. We are now talking about changing how combat has always functioned to further support this decision that obviously can't be taken back.
