My opinion is that they are essentially giving you a specific item similar to the one you might have gotten from a crate instead of the crate itself. You miss out on the spectacle of opening the crate and the disappointment when it's not what you wanted and you don't get the gems. You instead get a specific item which is exactly the same for every person.

I turned crate stuff in for gems, eventually getting an apex mount I really like.

The main audience for login rewards are new players anyway.
But, more importantly, they are free (even for veteran players like you and me).
Ah here we go again, people complaining about stuff that they get for free.
Daily Rewards actually provides me with constant supplies of Tri-Stat Potions, which I spotted crafting a long time ago as a result. And also poisons for my stam toons. Some of the cosmetic stuff I like a lot, some not so much, it's just a taste preference, but it's still nice to have anyway. XP scrolls (even if it's not really usefull for me), some gold, AP and whatever is still nice to have.
And all that stuff throwing at new players. It's actually quite helpfull.
But people wants to get some Clown Crates that they can start complaining about RNG instead.
Quit whining already, you get stuff for free.
Since when are included benefits of something you PAID FOR "Free?"
Do F2Pers get these daily rewards and if so, did they not still have to pay for the game initially?

You paid for the base game, or a chapter, dlc or whatever, not for a daily login rewards, which is just a free addition to a purchased game. This logic is such a nonsense, I don't even know what to say. Better just quit this thread for good.
Why don't you complaining about not getting stuff from some new dlc or chapter? You PAID for it!!1

Then in the following months leading up to the end of the year they rewarded the loyal players that logged in with another 39 crown crates, and even the Murkmire DLC. So far this year we have had a SINGLE crown crate back in April. Just one. Now we reach September and what is the reward for logging in all month? A single 150% xp scroll in the first week. That is it as far as "starred" boxes of value go. Nothing more. I understand that the first couple months was a bit of an overshoot with the crown crates... but dialing back the daily rewards to a single reward is just disappointing. Plus most people don't even care for the 150% scrolls as it is acquirable in game, and with the whole "no more character slots" this item is practically useless to the veteran players. If the eventual goal is to get rid of the daily rewards, then I would be happier with it gone, rather than watching it diminish month after month, like the content in the chapters year after year. If the goal is to track activity, and see more people playing daily... then perhaps a "Daily Login Reward" should actually... reward a person with something of value.

you can make crafted potions with better effects. and after you get more than hundreds of them, get more of them is just not needed
Tri-Pots are perfectly adequate for a lot of content. Especially if you tank, as well as being quite handy in PvP. I use them all the time and have zero problems. And no, I don't play an Argonian.
Again, you can just make crafted tri-pots with better effects. Zos don't need to give us hundreds of them.
Yea, I agree that the rewards today are complete ***. Another ton of useless trash potions. I think it just zos plan to convince people to buy crown crates.
