Are weapon damage glyphs DoT?

mrwizardguy
Weapon glyphs like flame, shock, cold. Are they damage over time or instant? Also, are they 100% proc on light attack?

    20% proc chance

The only DoT you can aply with enchants, is when the Statuseffect is a DoT like "Burning".

Someone in the comments said that only poisons have the 20% proc. Hmm. Might have to do some testing. Which glyphs have DoTs then? Flame?

Pretty sure it's 100% chance to do the direct damage, but just 20% chance to apply the status effect, which would be a DoT.

Enchants proc every 10sec. They are instant damage, except for burning and chilled, which deal a minor DoT.

I'm pretty sure damage glyphs have a shorter cooldown (the older thread quotes 4s) than buff/debuff glyphs (both infused weapons and wearing torugs pact will alter this). As far as I know, all weapon glyphs will proc 100% of the time they are not on cooldown when you you use a light or heavy attack, or a damage skill. (I don't believe you can trigger a glyph through rally, elemental drain, defensive posture, or the resto staff skills). I don't think chilled has a dot associated with it, but poisoned definitely does.

damage glyphs seem to have shorter cooldown bc almost everyone pairs them with the infused trait, which cuts down cooldown to 5s

There are 2 types of weapon enchantments:
    Damage and buff/debuff.

Damage glyphs (any glyph that does active damage, it is direct damage, not a DoT) has 4 seconds cooldown without infused, 2 seconds cooldown with infused.

Buff/debuff glyphs, have 10 seconds cooldown without infused, 5 seconds cooldown with infused.

All glyphs will proc on cooldown when possible by:
    Light attacks.
Direct damage that comes from weapon skills (force pulse, snipe etc)
The weapon's AoE DoT skill (hail, wall of elements, blade cloak).

About glyphs and status effects (not connected to the original post but somehow discussion started):
Elemental glyphs (and poison) has high chance of applying status effect connected to their element (20% before any passives)

Edit: the shield glyph falls under damage. oops mb this part was wrong, it falls under non dmg.
