Since always. Look at the cosmetics in collection, lost of stuff can only be used by either male or female characters. Absolutely infuriating I agree, but it is what it is.

I remember seeing race locked items, but this is the first gender locked item I've seen.

It doesn't really make much sense because A) similar cosmetic items are not gender locked and B ) Men can wear dresses and jewelry and women can wear suits

And now that this has been pointed out, I want to wear this specific item on my male characters.

I suggest OP reword the first sentence and use a word other than demand. Zos listens to well thought constructive feedback but will not deal with demands. They have said as much.

There had been discussions about this topic twice already this month. Normally it was about the other cosmetic reward, the long beard, though. Ladies who want to wear fake beards.

It's strange that this item is genderlocked, though. My main char often wears the Dwemer circlet you get as an antiquity from Western Skyrim (which suits him well :P ). It doesn't look that different from that Seastone thing and it isn't genderlocked.

What exactly is "rl politics" about wanting your male character to be able to wear this circlet (or "browplate" or whatever)?

I mean first of all, there's like 100 circlets and *** male chars can wear, 2nd of all most people aren't even zoomed enough to see this crap, and third of all, it's a video game, maybe it's just not sized for male characters and they never bothered to do it.

You want the team to kick in and start sizing this for male chars when 99% of the population probably isn't even gonna use it?

I can't even attack in game right now reliably, there's more important things.

The dimensions of my forehead / jawline (read: in-game model) can be the same on any gender... soooooo, why can’t I use the 2 Daily Rewards this month on any character I choose that wants to rock a Browplate or a gnarly Chin-Trinkit (lol love the name)?

I remember seeing race locked items, but this is the first gender locked item I've seen.

It's treated just like the other 10 or so gender locked circlets, half-circlets, and flowers you can find during character creation or if you've bought theadornments pack.

Yes that one make no sense, can kind of understand beards, and get that some designs don't work for Argonians and Khajiit but that is more of an practical thing.

Good point you can wear dresses as males anyway, remember we did BG as an group all dressed in that viking styled reward dress as an uniform, I had the only female character :)

If you are a certain gender you are not allowed to wear certain clothes or accessories. It's been like this since the dawn of man, why should it be any different in ESO?

And here is proof that some men from old ages long gone had prohibitionistic ideas about clothes, it's nothing new really highly realistic:

First question: Why are male characters allowed to wear some circlets/browplates/crowns and some not, although they almost look the same?

Second question: Characters can break the law by being a thief or even a mass murderer, but if there's a rule "You're a guy, you cannot wear that!!!" they would care?

I swear, it's like some folks don't see the male characters in dresses or feminine outfits. That makes their entire argument shakey at best given that the authority that supposedly 'deems' it not allowed. Seems rather allowed to me. If a male orc can wear a wedding dress, we should be able to wear the circlet.

Apparently you haven't looked a facial hair, hair styles adornments, and makeup. Yes, we have had LOTS of gender locked collectibles since beta.

Yes, people have complained about it. ZOS hasn't done anything in 6 years, so don't hold your breath.

Yeah you find that for lots of the things like everyone else said. The only thing I've found that's shared which seemed gender specific was lipstick and eyeshadow. So of course I use it on some of my male toons because. And female characters can wear almost everything males can except beards. At least as this writing.

All im saying is this has been so for thousands of years, prohibitionistic ideas about gender special gender clothing is nothing new. Why change this in this day and age? ESO after all takes place in some kind of medieval fantasy and as we all know medieval folks were pretty backwards people living in the past and all, so gender specific clothing restrictions were one of many strong cultural values of that time periods.

Its perfect, it looks the sort of official place you would register an marriage outside churches.
However in these cases wedding dresses tend not to be used unless you are atheist and have an wedding party afterwards.

Now I guess this is an random image who make it more fun.

More seriously fashion is purely cultural, but an trend has been long dresses for ladies, but this tended to be higher status to. Lots of times this was trending for men to but more less so and fell out of fashion with riding.
In Tamriel it looks like long robes are favored among magic users and other intellectuals. for others it dresses for the ladies.

The character in the tux is mine. For a while any time I saw a male character in a dress I would put on that tux and try to make it look like we were holding hands for a screenshot. They crack me up. On another character I tried to pose with every new species of animal I came across in the game even if it was trying to kill me.
I have a lot of screenshots.

I didn't actually know that Adornment piece was Female Only! LOL That's funny like they tried to make it fair somehow. I can see how a female toon cant use a beard but there's no reason a male can't use that adornment. How absurd!

Eh.... the beard is so over the top. It's one of those things that will sit there in the Facial Hair screen forever unused. The browplate is nice, and I'm using it - but it's no big deal that my guys can't use it.

*shrug* It's just not a big deal to me.
