What will happen to the people who spend the crowns eso accidentally gave them?

A lot of people seemingly randomly got crowns. And have happily spend them. Eso has come out and said using them is an exploit. But nothing else. I am not home to see id I was given anything. But I would not dare touch them. I heard last time people got banned for spending their crowns.
So does anyone know what the plan is this time? What is going to happen? I fear for my friends accounts. I really hope they will not be banned.

How do you accidentally spend large amount of crowns you know you shouldn't have? You don't, that means spending them is intentional, therefore an exploit and exploiting is bannable

There are people who thought the crowns were a gift from ESO.
And people who wanted to use the crowns before ESO took them away again.
But some people unknowingly did it.

And on Xbox EU feels like everyone has been spending them by the guild / zone chats.

No way they will perm ban a huge part of the player base.

Rollback seems only option. Or bill people for that they had

I'm more worried about what will happen to players that receive "gifts" from those that received these crowns. ZOS has a lot of cleanup work to do.

Can they identify the players who received the extra crowns? I have >60k legitimately purchased in the recent crown sale and I’m a bit concerned I’ll lose them.

That's my bigger concern. I'm similar..

Also I hate that there is no 'balance' you can check for crowns. On Xbox we regularly used to not get our ESO plus ones and had to ask for a check. We have no way to track. I.e. say I know I had 35k ish maybe 37 or 33k it would be hard to tell.

It's weird there isn't a way to see balance sheet.

Intrigued how this plays out. I hope ZOS act pretty hard or have a simple way to remove all the looters loot.
