Positive Things About ESO/ZOS

I want to make a positive feedback for ESO/ZOS for a change since complaints and criticism is always magnified.
Things I like about ESO.

1. Graphics are great. Sometimes I marvel at the zone whether it's the lighting around towns and from a distance island at night at the RIFT or the misty glare in the morning in Auridon's green pasture and trees.

2. Combat is unique in a way but if ZOS can make sprint for gamepad by holding the button rather than toggle than I would be happy camper. Gamepad disadvantage vs Keyboard/mouse players.

3. Voice over and some great stories (mature contents). The music and audio is good too.

4. PVP

If anyone here says: OH! But, PVP! I swear I'll ...

Thank you for the valuable input and respectfully recommend to discuss that aspect of ESO on the PVP forum.

Forums for any game will always look negative, as most players are simply playing or quit quietly.

I love the questing, the huge/many zones, the systems(stealing, murdering, antiquities, etc), the rate at which ZOS releases content, and how ZOS always tries to fix issues. Love the game!

    @Scrollup , I agree with your points.

Cyro PvP is awesome (any performance issues aside), Volendrung is both a curse and a blessing in game, a nice addition, mutiplies enemy& alliance movement.

Housing interface has been improved over time, like finetuning the location of a placed furniture & grouping objects.

The change of the dye-station into the outfit station was awesome, not just dyeing your outfit, but being able to use all motifs one of your characters learned.
Outfit pages, that don't require a skillevel to learn.

    Transmutation station.

The community generally seems very nice. I've in the past stayed away from multiplayer games because (and this is probably wrong of me to think) online communities tend to be toxic. In ESO I've found the majority of people to be nice and helpful

I love the game for its lore, questing, graphics, regular content releases and overall quality. As a non-competitive solo/cooperative PvEer on PC EU and NA the performance has always been fine and the balancing dramas always pass me by along with most of the bug complaints. For me, the trading system is the only thing that lets it down, but overall the game beats everything else I've played online since 1997 (and TES beats all the games I've played offline since 1983).

    1. They ignore 99.9 percent of input --- good because most of the input are ideas that people want to overbuff something and pretend that's not the case

    2. They nerf a lot -- good again, because I sure hate being overbuffed on my hybrids already struggling to push damage out and sustain. Yay!

    3. They create more proc sets every patch --- also good because the game should be balanced around procs. That's true balance, right?

    4. They nerf classes instead of sets first, then later nerf sets, resulting in classes losing a massive amount of power overtime, then introduce OP gear in the latest patch that is far ahead of the other gear, only to nerf it later. Rinse, repeat. -- Also good because it means the game is an endless grind and all your time inputted can be wasted at a moment's notice thanks to someone with a spreadsheet and a huge bias.

    5. The dungeon mechanics don't punish DPS enough --- best point in ESO. I love me a good DPS race.

Phew, that list really tired me out. I can list a billion positive things like this about ESO.

And major coffee spraying incident. Again.

Thanks for the laugh, though.

On topic: yeah pretties are pretty but frustrations with unfixed glitches is real. I'm pretty sure that other players with eclectic play-styles like me will be pulling back from anything more than super-casual play. I guess that's a positive: game supports variety of play-styles so you can do different things (mostly) depending on mood/game performance at any given time.

    I'm grateful to ZOS for:

    1. The opportunity to see all the Tamriel and even more - places like Artaeum and many Oblivion realms. To meet Vanus Galerion and Shalidor? I never dared to dream about it!

    2. Awesome lore. Ocean of lore of "any difficulty level". My recent discoveries are Antiquities: description of Carved Whale Totem made me cry with joy. Awesome cultural diversity.

    3. Graphics, music, sounds and voiceover. I really enjoy it.

    • They allow people to make addons to enhance the GUI.
    • They do not force PVP and let players CHOOSE when/if to PVP, avoiding griefing/toxicity.
    • All quest content is fully voice acted by serious talent.
    • Able to craft reasonably competitive end-game sets.
    • Good diversity of gear sets/proc effects (though the meta chasers still say you can only use 3 or 4 of them LOL).
    • Pretty scenery.
    • Good quest design and storytelling.
    • Plenty of stuff to do for everyone.

No way for #2. I play with ps4 controller, holding down L3 to sprint? Why would you want that?

Because you lose your sprint the moment you change sprint while moving from left to right or vice versa.
Example: My character slows down the moment i want to sprint left due to sprint stop sprinting and I have to reapply sprint by pressing the button.

Where as on the keyboard you simply hold SHIFT key and sprints never stops and continue to sprint as you move left and right and all directions. This gives you faster dodging and or moving out of a player's line of sight quickly.

    Business 101.
Crown store is the #1 money making machine besides the subscriptions ESO +. So yea that's the central focus of ESO and most decision making behind the entirety of the game is to keep the company afloat revolved around Crown Store.

It doesnt have to be L3 button for sprint, but as far i know, my sprint turns off the moment i change direction and I have to re-apply the L3 button.

Ahh, to be a fresh face again. Welcome to the Forum.

I applaud threads like this, the game gets hate way too often and not enough people actually pointing out it's positive qualities and what they enjoy/appreciate. On your points about the visuals and Lore, I'm adding my agreement, the sunsets on Auridon always catch me off guard whenever I'm there at the right moment, and the Aurora I caught just the other night in Haafingar was quite nice. Put on some Brunuhville for extra atmosphere while you take in the sights.

I though don't quite enjoy the combat. It feels too much like a Hack'n'Slash, the attacks don't feel real. You do an animation and your target has a white or gold number pop up. If somehow it could feel like there was some more weight to your weapons and spells, like they were actually affecting the character models.

The graphics and music are indeed amazing. The storytelling is usually quite good, and though I feel they were off their game in Greymoor and I expect the next story DLC will likely also not be up to standard, I'm willing to cut them some pandemic-related slack.

They've developed some really interesting mechanics for some of the encounters, not just for Dungeons and Trials but for open-world World Bosses and Events. Unfortunately, the game is such a DPS race that they've started relying really heavily on one-shots to simulate challenge because we bypass most of the real challenges they come up with. I don't know a solution to this, but I hope they come up with something, because I know this company can create some genuinely innovative and interesting encounters, and these types of challenges are so much more fun than instant-death because you don't have the reflexes of a 14-year-old.

If this sounds like nothing but backhanded compliments at best, that's because there's a lot about this game that's great, and lately they've been moving away from what makes it great in some important areas. It doesn't get better if we don't tell them that. But it is important to remember that they're capable of true greatness. I know. I still see it regularly.

There's a ton of craze-amaze in ESO: the art and design team literally can't get enough praise and the dungeons are becoming more interesting and inspired with every new release.

I think that the answer to this is more situations with sustained and unavoidable damage-over-time effects applied to the entire party during mechanics.

I'm not a fan of one-shots either and you can circumvent the need for them by adding hard Healing Checks to bosses that are simply unable to be passed with teams of 3 or 4 DPS. Not only would that cut down on overall group DPS but necessitating bringing along a dedicated Healer, but it would also make the Healer feel needed and important in a way that sadly is not the case too often of the time.

I AM WITH YOU ON THE INSTANT DEATH MECHANICS in the Dungeon boss even on some Normal Dungeon boss!
Its the top 20 things that frustrate me in this game and it has no reason to be in it. Even Veteran Dungeon Instant death mechanics should be nerfed to 3/4 Health at least. Because some casual player and some people don't have time to play on a daily basis and to waste time on a group that wiped many times on a boss to end up quitting is sad.
