Because you lose your sprint the moment you change sprint while moving from left to right or vice versa.
Example: My character slows down the moment i want to sprint left due to sprint stop sprinting and I have to reapply sprint by pressing the button.
Where as on the keyboard you simply hold SHIFT key and sprints never stops and continue to sprint as you move left and right and all directions. This gives you faster dodging and or moving out of a player's line of sight quickly.

I've never had issues like that, or no idea what you mean, but holding L3 down while moving around doesn't work well.

I don't know a solution to this, but I hope they come up with something, because I know this company can create some genuinely innovative and interesting encounters, and these types of challenges are so much more fun than instant-death because you don't have the reflexes of a 14-year-old.

They've developed some really interesting mechanics for some of the encounters, not just for Dungeons and Trials but for open-world World Bosses and Events. If this sounds like nothing but backhanded compliments at best, that's because there's a lot about this game that's great, and lately they've been moving away from what makes it great in some important areas. It doesn't get better if we don't tell them that. But it is important to remember that they're capable of true greatness. I know. I still see it regularly.
