Unique Character Names

I was the first person in this game to name my character Dragon Slayer. I think everyone should be able to name a character Dragon Slayer. I donate my name to the cause: end unique character names in ESO.

How hard would it be to add an extra field for the unique @ name? Perhaps programmers could overload some method to allow a combination of the Unique @ name and character name to act as the database ID. ✭✭✭✭✭Not interested in something generic like what you suggest. I have 53 (maybe 55? - not opening the spreadsheet to count right now) characters, and all of them have individual first and last names which fit their races.9 -

Are you sure? There are people who call their child X Æ A-XII. Seems that everything is possible today.

Wandering_Immigrant✭✭✭✭No thanks. Ever go to a party and see someone wearing the exact same outfit as you? I haven't, but I've watched enough TV and movies to know it's not cool.
I like my character names, I've put thought into them and gotten a lot of compliments on them, I don't want someone copying them and getting those compliments, those are my compliments.
I wanted to name my Orc warden Moose and Squirrel, like Rocky and Bullwinkle, the Orc was gonna be Bullwinkle and the bear Rocky. Get it? (for people aren't old, rocky is the smart one) But it was taken. ✭I like to feel like my character names are unique but there's probably parts of the names that aren't. It's definitely that hardest part of character creation in my opinion. I do tend to take the names seriously though and I wonder how players who just name their characters things like 'jamjar kettle' can really be happy with it but to each their own. I made that name up so hopefully nobody really has it.0 -

✭✭✭✭✭I guess I have a sort of "gift" for fantasy RP names: I have around 10k names (yep....) in file, none of which I've ever seen anywhere, and only some of which I've used in SPMR and MMO games. Some of them are from things I've written over my life, but most of them just live in file until I go looking for one when I've made a new character and I'm not yet sure what I want to name himmer (doesn't happen too often, generally the first thing I have for a new character is the name).
I have days when what I do is put names in file....3 -

I don't think this game will ever run out of meaningful unique names. But I think players should have the freedom to name our characters whatever we like and not be limited by players, like me, that got the name first. Does that make sense?0 -

I won't take "The best Dragon Slayer", because you know - it's good to have some humility. Oh, I can also pick "Dragon Slayers Slayer" just to clarify that my character is higher in food chain

I understand what you mean. But I think, it wouldn't improve a thing because (I'm sorry) there are so many uncreative people. Some names would literally occur hundreds of times. Even now you often see the same names (often some Game of Thrones or Witcher characters) in different spellings. A few days ago I saw 3(!) Yennefers of Vengerberg (maybe Yenefer, Yenneffer and Jennefer) in Vulkhel Guard alone.@Syldras | PC | EU
