Seriously, I suspect that they're making major changes to the underlying infrastructure to improve performance in general and/or scalability in particular.

I expect long maintenances to be the norm for a while, not the exception.

I mean, its not back up yet. Who's to say they didn't delete the entire saved data for every player without a backup. Thus shutting down the game forever and everyone losing thousands and thousands of hours of progression AND, most importantly of all, forcing thousands of people outside causing skin cancer.

The official reason given on Twitter is "back end issues". IME, this means a server fetch'd itself during routine maintenance, or the datacenter did something which is preventing ZOS from bringing the game back online.

Or someone had way too many burritos for lunch.

That is what I meant when I said that they might have installed the PTS patch on live. They temporarily and by accident set the live servers to PTS mode.

An intern deleted the entire game from their central computer. They have now split into two teams - Team One to find the USB stick with the Back Up Copy, and Team Two to try and re-write the game from scratch in case Team One can't find the stick.

Its an question about skill, like then you you do an random normal dungeon, get wayrest 1. However all are re-spawning on the skevers before slimecrawl

Clearly someone's tail got caught in one of the big cogs.

They dropped their sweetroll in pain and surprise.

The sweetroll it rolled along the floor and just within reach of one of the server hamsters.

The sugar rush made the hamster run very fast indeed.

So fast that the servers caught on fire.

As a result Summerset finally sunk into the sea.

Now all the elves are very wet and must be dried with the softest of perfumed towels before they can switch the server on again.

After the first and second round of maintenance the game was running a little too well, so naturally they had to revert it back to what we expect it to be like.

The first time they extended it I thought "I bet they accidentally patched all the test stuff on live and are trying to figure out how to roll it back."
