As I started ESO together with my rl partner years ago, we used them in the beginning. He had the Imperial Edition which included a set, so why not giving it a try?! Didn't use them for long though, since they're quite impractical. You miss one set bonus and there are many other things for an extra xp gain available now (don't ask me how many spare xp scrolls I have from the daily logins). So I think there is no real use for the rings anymore. For roleplaying maybe, but nobody sees what you have in your inventory anyway, so even that is doubtful.
I would love to see something else added for the characters that want to show that they're married to someone else.. player or NPC.
Besides all the people shrieking about wanting to romance/marry NPCs (I'm with you, ahaha), I was wondering how many people still use the Pledges/Rings of Mara. Does anyone still marry? Is it worth it? Will we ever see an update to the Rings of Mara (since they're kind of useless to fully-leveled characters)?

Personally, I think it would look weird with NPCs. Imagine running across different people married to the same NPC every 2 minutes. Or a whole group and half of the ladies are married to Raz or Darien.

Yes I have used rings of Mara with several irl sweeties.... 😳
Though I tell my now fiancé that it just was him OwO. 💕
I wish they would make a separate instance for marriages. To keep them romantic and troll free. 👰 🎩
Ok, so maybe making the spouse publicly clear (in terms of NPCs) wouldn't be perfect.. But being able to marry NPCs at all would be so amazing! even if it's only certain characters. Like in Skyrim, if you do a certain task (complete a quest, get an item, kill a certain mob) and put on the Amulet, you could propose.

I'd wish it would be a little more in-depth, maybe. Of course, a whole questline would be too much, but it also shouldn't be too simple. "I fetched you this bottle of ale, now marry me!" isn't exactly what I consider romantic
I feel bad for cackling at that. 😂
Several of my characters are already in relationships with characters in their own stories

Can't we just be friends? Can't even sleep together in this game. (can't sleep at all, actually, beds don't work)
What's the point in 'marriage' if there is no actual 'marriage' ? I really don't understand why it's even in the game.
IMHO

Maybe the problem is the wording. "My love, I travelled to the most remote places on this continent, no journey too long or too dangerous, to offer you this exquisite gift as a sign of my reverence. May I ask you to give me your hand in marriage? *hands over bottle of ale from local tavern*" See, it's better already.Several of my characters are already in relationships with characters in their own stories
Good to know I'm not the only one. I don't write that much, but I've got a really extended headcanon for some of my characters.
*The NPC stares blankly at you in confusion*
My EU healer main has a whole story, from growing up to where she is now (where she meets her future husband), all the way into the future to her firstborn. ^-^ Among others, her story is the most prominent..
(Also, is it a headcanon if you're/we're the writer? 🤔 )

Still a better result than if I just said "I see you own a double bed. Will you share it with me - forever?" (Which is the romantic to corny version of "Can I sleep with you? I... I mean, at your house. I need a place to stay for the night, after all, since there is no tavern in town, right?"). Okay, okay, I will stop now

I'm no expert, but I think it is, since you add your own thoughts to the big background story of ESO. By the way, my main probably knows 90% the population of Eastern Vvardenfell in one way or the other, plus a few more in other parts of the country. Grew up in Sadrith Mora. Great House Telvanni. Had to leave for... certain not so pleasant reasons.
@kadochka Unfortunately, I'm not so attached to the DC areas. Let me think... Gabrielle Benele, maybe?
Concerning my main char, I wrote about his backstory here - with pictures

And those are cool! Well-written!
If I come across a half-metal Dunmer in my digging through Blackreach... ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Thanks. I have already so much more on my mind for him, but I can't post that yet because I don't have the screenshots ready. Don't know if I could write something romantic, though. Let alone erotica - it would probably end up being like the gay male version of the Argonian maid ("I see you have an exquisite staff there, my friend. Quite a big one. May I hold it once?" - Ah, mages and their staffs...)

You can marry as many people as you like. The xp bonus in a group where everyone is a spouse if someone else is fun, but you have to limit your xp bonus partners to 2 because of the rings. It would work better if you didn't have to sacrifice a gear slot and simply just be grouped with a spouse, but of course, that could be exploited. Imagine a trial group where everyone is married to everyone for example.
