Good? Who knows right now, but it is backed by Amazon, so money would be no object if their goal is to make an engaging, time worthy Mmo.

Yeah, that's kind of the problem. Right now it strikes me as a game made by someone who doesn't really understand why people play games, but they've got lots of money and they want to make more money so they threw money at the idea of getting in on the MMO action. And that would probably be the extent of the instructions passed on to the developers they hired.

Right now I'm expecting New World to be a smash hit like… what was it called? Crucible? You know, that kind of like Overwatch game that was hyped for a day or two "out of nowhere" etc.

    LOL.

Actually, I think it will have a following but of the type of player that likes survival type PvP on a group level. Much like Ark Survival Evolved has, but with larger servers. However, that is not the type of game most ESO players would be into or else we would not be here as much.

From everything I have seen, it seems to be more like Conan Exiles than a proper MMO.

Ergo, not really vying for the same audience as ESO.

Lets have this conversation again if some of the kickstarter projects ever materialize like Pantheon or Ashes of Creation

I read already many posts where people comment Pantheon and Ashes of Creation, and for me is hard to believe that anyone could think those games are good or could be a competition for ESO.

Did you saw videos? They are really ugly, they seem old, without nice graphics and with a terrible gameplay. I know is pre alpha but anyways, you can already see they are bad games that can no really be a competition for ESO. Si many skills, so slow and old combat system like wow... Bad, very bad.

But a one last thought: you can have a very good base designed game but without too many content or you can have a very bad base game but with a lot of stuff and trust me, you can always add new good stuff to your very goid base game, but you would never be able to change the core of a bad game it doesn't matter how much content you launch.

That is why if New World is good base game will succeed in the long term compare to others.

I have not seen Pantheon but I have seen some of AoC. I stopped play testing AoC after my experience there. I will try it again if it seems to become more developed.

I spent several months in New World though. As I have said in this thread already, it is not the same type of MMO as ESO in any aspect. It is more like a large survival PvP game. A lot of farming of materials regardless if you like that or not. Pretty much no PvE other than trash mobs. When I played it, if you wanted to be able to craft the best weapons, etc, you had to be part of a team.

Not exactly a threat to ESO even if it is successful.

Soon New World will be launch. Probably similar as ESO in the beginning, without not too much content compare to now and with many things they will have to fix in the firsts months after release.
But if the game is fun, has good performance and they introduce more content, do you think it can bring ESO down?
ESO biggest problem in my opinion is the performance, loading screens and then all the others things like balance problems, animation canceling where you can execute many skills in a short period of time, outputting in pvp so much damage that is impossible to react or know from where it comes, poor pvp attention and etc.
In my opinion if New World success where ESO failed over all these years, they may lose a big % of players.
What is your point of view guys?

Not a viable alternative for me. It's PvP and group oriented. That bats it right out of the playing field for me.
