Cyrodiil: So you can fix the lag?

Yesterday evening in a packed campaign (Ravenwatch: queue length was 500+ at some point) on PC/EU during midyear mayhem I was able to use dizzing swing (or other channeled abilities) for the first time since months. All people in my group had the same experience. It wasn't perfect, but unless you avoided the balls (the notorious ones apparently seemed to have chosen different campaigns for their purpose) you had a pretty nice gameplay.

Given that something similar happened in February around midyear mayhem, when the servers went from awful to half-decent and back to awful right after the event, I would like to ask ZOS the question: Why can't it always be this way?

If that's a business decision, like meaning Cyrodiil PvP doesn't yield high enough profit/revenues to justify more ressources attributed why not be up front with it and explain?

Hello! YES ! I also was shocked... 1st time since months i was able to play in group (ultra settings+ally effects) PVP with 60 FPS!! no kidding... 60-55 fps with full group fighting inside of sieged fort... amazing... ofc there was a desync of dmg (1-2 sec) and enemy players position... coz i was able to use skills ... but sometimes players "teleport" for 1 or 2 meters.

STILL @ZOS GREAT JOB! i didnt seen such a performance in months! i am soo happy i back for pvp event! also... if this will keep after midyear mayhem i gonna buy greymoor + maybe renew my ending eso+!

    keep it going!

Perhaps it is because it spreads out the population to different servers, especially the high caliber, high APM ball groups.

Bro there i was in full group + some others allies (about +30 players easy) + twice more sieging enemies... no fps drop... hope this will last longer.

I assume it has more to do with hiring or allocating more server capacity temporarily to Cyrodiil. Because it can happen that you have insane lag in nearly empty campaigns when even nobody is around you. Yesterday though even though it was packed and even at hot spots with 50+ people sieging and defending it went pretty smooth.

This right here. It's very likely they dynamically allocate more server resources during events, then go back to business as usual, i.e. the cheapest they can go without losing too many whales.

    My experience was pretty mixed.
One minute I could be in a huge fight and I mean 50 Vs 50+ and everything ran perfectly. I also recorded footage of taking a couple of resources by myself and not being able to cast anything. I don't know why that is... But I was spamming abilities and nothing was happening.

Well, for me no change. Entered Gray Host at Pc EU this morning, not overpopulated - AD poplocked, DC and EP on 3 bars - skills and sieges fire with delays. So after gaining 1st tier I left for dead Shor campaign (all map red) to finish 9res quest solo

And with "dynamically" you mean 8 hours downtime ("just a Server reboot") I guess? That's what my guess is, that was the downtime, adding stuff to the servers for the event.

Had 20 vs 40 fights in IC last.... Relatively smooth. Why isnt this standard? Do you know how many players have left this game due to poor performance and zos can just.... flip a switch? What a completely INSANE business model.

Well I played from 13 hours straight yesterday, and I never really felt a drop in performance. The only time I crashed was during transit. Other than that it was fine on Xbox. Very playable the entire time

I emp'd my Negate Sorc in the fake camp yesterday :D (With the help from friends of course)

For me it was ok during the morning, but got progressively worse, as we approached prime time eu. For example i often had to break free 3 times in a row, then couldn't move or bar swap, then died.

I don't know the game has seemed better in some campaigns, but some cases it is still completely unresponsive; like if 30+ attack you at once the game lags your input for something like healing, but not blocking or roll if done in advance.

It behaves strangely, some abilities are working some have huge delay. Cast time abilities obviously work worst of all.

Also i noticed one magblade hit me with 3 lotus fans and a couple other abilities and I never saw any of it happen. Anyone else seeing this, does seem rare but wtf lol

Gray host was laggy as hell yesterday evening. Skills had 3 second delays while the campaign was pop locked but no enemy could be found. No joke, we've been taking four empty keeps in a row and didn't see a lot of fights on the map either. Had some 1v1's with random people I encountered and it was totally clear nobody could pull a full combo because of the lag..

I didnt go to the main campaign. Saw EWT at an hour and a half so went to a camp that was populated but no wait. Worked ok except for load screens. Load screens are flashing more and more.

Yeah there were several times last night that I would get loading screen flashes 4-5 times when riding from one keep to the next. Other times, I get loading screens while on siege that throw you off of siege. Just a bizarre way to play a game.

Can't confirm (on EU PC - Grayhost campaign). Crashed twice already. Skills not firing off, slow-walk-bug, etc.

Still the same unacceptable performance since Update 25.

Wish performance would stay this way *fingers crossed*

Though last time after the event the performance went *poof*

Maybe it is because PVEr’ will buy tickets during this time. Perhaps it is also that more people actually play PvP for the double AP, boxes, and tickets.

Look at the campaigns during the event and IC’ as well. It was beautiful.

BGs on the other hand, was horrible with lag and disconnects. Plus the very long queue times were “bleh”.

All I mainly do is PvP. It was amazingly, amazing to play 2 v X again. I was a happy little death machine. 😈

Would be nice if it stayed this way and it would if more people played PvP.

I spent about 20 minutes trying to play. My char was walking slowly, sometimes my skills would fire, and I’d be laying dead on the ground after a few enemies would float by me. I never saw anyone actually attack me. Completely unplayable, a waste of my time. BTW this was off-peak time (about 3 AM EDT) on PC/NA.

Some may have a different experience but it is a complete waste of my time, which is pretty much the worst thing a company can do to their customer.

That is player desync. The NPC's are not desync'd, but you are. The server knows where the npc's are, but it can't keep track of you so well. You don't notice when fighting players because they have the same desync as you do.

I wish I saw this. I was in a campaign that was not even full and couldn't get jabs to go off and other skills would randomly go off or not.
