It's not gem exclusive, if that's what you mean but if you have gems you can purchase it outright, rather than buying a crate.

Exactly, but it doesn't support the OP's argument.
Other hairstyles like "By Kyne, It's Humid" are darker by default.
I think players should do a little less blaming and a little more reality checking ... because it's reasonable to expect not all hairstyles will have the exact same hue.
By Kyne is also darker (although not quite as dark), but; a) it's a free hairstyle you can choose in char creation, if you want that look, so you know what you're getting and b) it's probably supposed to indicate damp hair, as it's humid.
It's not a Crown store-only hairstyle, with no indication in the description that it will be darker than all other hairstyles, even damp ones.
You can see Seafarer's looks darker than your current hair colour in the preview, but the uninitiated may assume that won't be an accurate indication of what it will look like in-game.
By Kyne (preview) on my char, for comparison:
The images support my argument even more ... neither "By Kyne, It's Humid" nor the new Seafarer's Crowning Trim are even remotely the same as Windblown Barbaric or Left-Parted Cropped. Bottom Line: Hairstyles are not all going to have the same hue.
Not to mention every player has the option to preview the hairstyle in the crown store before buying.
There is also a problem with the new hats... they make your char bald! (tried on female breton).
Most hats/hoods do that actually, depending on what hairstyle you're using, and it's ridiculous that it happens. Most of the hairstyles will vanish, a few will get changed to a short-hair style.
I really, really DO NOT want By Kyne it's Humid changed though. The slightly darker shade of red it turns on my red-haired character is perfect for him. While I support this new hairstyle getting a few changes, I don't think old hair styles should be touched at all because this could destroy characters for people. If anything, they should offer two versions of By Kyne if people REALLY want this- one darker, one lighter. But I rarely see people use the style so I don't think it should be altered at all.By Kyne it's Humid is darker than the others and the shade changes some; it's similar-ish, but could probably be tweaked to be more consistent.
This game has the issues it does and a thread about colour has 2k views..... this is why things barely improve, the forums are filled With casual roleplayers and questers blowing up about the hair colour on a hairstyle whilst the game struggles to stay at 30fps in cyro.........People are really that worked up over a stain on the carpet in a burning house.

just why?
left is before, btw. and how it is with most if not all hairstyles.
