Looking for help with a speed build

I've been toying around with a speed build for a while now, and it's great fun. Currently I have Jailbreaker for Minor Expedition, Coward's Gear for Major Expedition and Swift jewelry. Now with Greymoor I've been planning on getting the Ring of the Wild Hunt for even more speed, which would leave me with one open piece. Any tips on what I should use it for? The only things I can think of is one piece monster sets but I don't know which bonus I should go for. Any other tips for more speed would also be appreciated!

Mag or Stam? Anything with penetration could be good, or whatever max resource you need more of. I'd probably avoid Spell/Weapon Crit because of impen

Also, be sure to check you won't be over speed cap, which is 200% base movement speed (movement speed stacks additively)

Sadly speed is hard capped and with Jailbreaker and Coward's Gear you're already way over, if I recall correctly.

I tried the same thing with an Orc WW with Stead mundus, but one set alone had me hit the cap already, I believe. I think i went with a decreased resources for sprinting instead of the 2nd speed buff.

I've tried with Coward's, Jailbreaker and The Ring of the Wild Hunt and that definitely gets me to the speed cap (not a lot of difference between sprinting and not sprinting). The ring is still very nice though, given that it makes your non sprinting speed so high.

With some quick calculations I don't think you can passively be at the speed cap (without sprinting or using skills) but I think you can reach it without sprinting with Jailbreaker, The Ring of the Wild Hunt, swift jewelry and a source of Major Expedition of your choice.

My speed character just uses Jailbreaker with swift jewelry, 7 medium armor, and steed mundus. She's also a Bosmer and uses a bow so she gets a good a boost after a roll-dodge.

I haven't bothered crunching the numbers but from feeling it out, her walk speed is comfortable, her regular sprint speed is just under the speed cap, rolling puts her walk speed a little more under the speed cap, and sprinting after a roll puts her well over the speed cap. It's a good feeling build for my purposes.

Sarcasm is something too serious to be taken lightly

I was born with the wrong sign

    I took the wrong road
That led to the wrong tendencies
I was in the wrong place at the wrong time

On the wrong day of the wrong week
Used the wrong method with the wrong technique

I would add that if the purpose of this build is things like gathering overland, then it can be very useful to be able to be at the speed cap while also in sneak or invisible. This means that you are less likely to become "in combat" and lose the extra speed from the Ring of the Wild Hunt but also means you don't get randomly snared, CC'd or dragged by mobs you happen to run past (stranglers are the worst).

Simply using Ring of the Wild Hunt and Coward's Gear gets you to the speed cap while sprinting, and if you add stage 4 vamp you can do that while invisible.

Otherwise if you are a nightblade you could alternatively go Ring of the Wild Hunt + Stage 4 Vamp + Concealed weapon on your bar = at speed cap once invisible while sprinting. Slightly annoying due to the delay in becoming invisible after starting sprint, but useful as it has no gear requirements outside the ring.

A downside of both of these is the stamina drain while sprinting so it isn't 100% sustainable and that you drop below the speed cap if you do become visible and in combat, so another approach to avoid these issues is to get there while sneaking or cloaking.

For example, provided you are a nightblade, Ring of the Wild Hunt + Concealed Weapon + 3x swift + Jailbreaker [or Steed Mundus] + Windrunning gets you to the speed cap (just) out of combat if you are invisible, and also if sneaking provided you remove the movement speed penalty of sneak via vampire stage 1 or a set like Shadow Dancer's Raiment. In this case if you do become "in combat" you can use any source of major expedition (path, RAT) plus shadowy disguise to remain at the speed cap until you are again out of combat. Additionally, if you chose to use vampire stage 1 instead of a set to remove the movement speed penalty of sneak or Steed Mundus instead of Jailbreaker, then you still have at least one 5 piece set open. In which case I would suggest adding Darloc Brae, as this means you regen stam while crouching and can probably sneak at the speed cap without actually draining stamina as long as you have a few sources of sneak cost reduction (CP, medium armour, legerdemain).

Note: I must give credit to @Iskiab as a lot of this was based on some of his ideas he posted in a previous thread (I believe it is the one linked by @Xvorg)

    Would this work with mist?

I haven't used the new mist so couldn't really tell you. I was assuming that if you were in Mist you wouldn't be able to sneak/sprint/cloak which would mean you wouldn't be able to get the concealed weapon speed bonus or the other benefits of sneaking/invisibility. As such I haven't tried. But I could be wrong on my assumptions.

yes. Once you get the ring I would dump cowards for a more damage set. I have cowards and added fiords to go faster. I ran from point a to b and was only 1 second faster with the added set. Speed is hard capped. I would to speed tests with a stop watch to see what is the minimum speed sets you can get away with so you can add more damage or perhaps improve sneak if you wish to have a farmer/thief toon. If you use the ring for your main speed boost I would slot rapid maneuvers so you can use it for speed if you get into combat
