They've done "courtesy" refunds of 40% of my gold when I got scammed. Took 3 weeks for them to respond to me though.

They really don't care though. Wouldn't need any of this mess if they just made the gift something you could put in the trader or trade window.

ZOS should just allow for crowns to be sold at guild traders...

That's pretty ridiculous that you only received 40% when they straight up sanctioned the trading of Crown Items for Gold on these very forums. It costs them literally nothing to give you back fake currency.

Did you try reaching out to admins on this forum? If it's a trade at your own risk, all that will do is encourage scams.

You may want to look through Page 7, where @ZOS_GinaBruno posted and then someone else cites the TOS about it being violation of TOS to scam players:

I reached out a while back.

They can say whatever they want on the forums but the reality is often different and difficult.

1.) crown sales undermine the efforts of zos to sell crownstore items for real money. So refunding lost gold means less profit, as you will try again to use gold instead of cash.

2.) the key of this game is to kill other gamers, to rob them off (like the Tel Var stones in the current event).
So if you believe that the people that "execute" you will be honest crown sellers, you are naive

3.) Although others mentioned the solution before, people still do discuss methods that are NOT reliable, like 50/50. No, this is NO solution.
Only solution is a trusted middleman (guild-officer, common method on xbox EU), or a verified guild crownseller (common on xbox NA). Even those are not 100% secure, I know from a case where a verified crownseller cheated and vanished, very rich now. But that is the only case I know, so still 99,9% secure.

Sorry if I sound harsh, but I think it is better to vocally "wash the head" instead of letting you run into an open knife again. I DO buy crowns for gold, with the methods I described never got scammed and meanwhile were "promoted" as middleman, too (you get nothing for it, it is just a service we established players offer to others).

Go through discords, ask your officers in trading guilds and always (ALWAYS) take screens of the transaction etc.

    Just my two cents:

Try joining the WCE (World Crown Exchange) discord channel to verify whether they are legitimate crown sellers or buyers
And I think its best to trade with a guildy (but of course with prudent and careful approach)....always check and recheck the reputation, always meet in person, etc

Good luck hope you got your gold back btw
