Well after resisting coming back to eso I dropped over 100 bucks Greymoor & Eso plus.
This is one of the most expensive Games to play been resisting buying the chapter hate the idea of being charged for dlc and sub also time constraints but I gave in ;)
ESO is one of the best MMO just hate the business model that charges for everything...almost as bad EA and sims ;)

With ESO plus you got every expansion + DLC that you missed though, right? Most games would have made you buy that.

Not sure why it was $100. Did you get some kind of collector's edition or something? I came back after a 6-8 month break and only had to drop like $40.

It isn't any more than WoW or FFXIV, pretty in line with the industry honestly for the better MMOs.

Nope standard ed 63 bucks plus tax it was actually on sale ;) with tax greymoor cost 80 bucks almost 2x the amount of the original game....I missed buying the last chapter elsyware? so 40 bucks per chapter not too bad but still expensive.... and 20 bucks for the sub....semi worth it because you really just buying crowns the rest of the stuff craft bag etc are bonus
But still dropping 100 bucks for a game is still expensive...but then I love TES games almost as much as I love Warhammer ;)
Wish there was Warhammer mmo :pensive:

guess youve never heard of star wars galaxy of heroes...talking about expensive...

You can and I have spent a lot of money on eso - most of it on cosmetics, very little on content comparably BUT dollar per hour is still veeery good value on eso ürobably only beaten by open world rpgs like Skyrim and the such.

So you need to ask yourself what you mean when you say price and if you are comparing on a net value basis.

I did not buy the last chapter but it was included with this update ....I just bought the elswar chapter I could bought it for 40bucks and wait next year to get greymoor

Comparing ED to ESO is ludicrous. ESO has more content in one DLC than the entire game of ED has.I play mobile games that have more content than ED. Then their update that is like a year late of carriers they turned into a mostly worthless grindfest. ED is a lot a of empty space, a lot of grinding and a lot of looking at the same scenery over and over and over. Eve has a lot of stuff to do to make up for the lack of scenery. ED is just grinding rocks so you can buy bigger ships to grind more rocks. Also you can explore the galaxy but after the first thousand solar systems they pretty much all look the same. Even Planet Coaster by Frontier is severely lacking compared to RCT3.

Um if you already own the pre greymoor game you just buy the digital upgrade not the standard ED. Standard IS the entire game. Upgrade is $40 US which is ~ $55 CAD. You bought the full game instead of the upgrade which is why it was so expensive. Had Canadians had to pay $80 CAD to upgrade to Greymoor, i think we would have seen a few threads about it a long time ago when it was launched on PC.

Edit: And that would make sense since the rest of the game is about $25 -$30 US

But Elsweyr is a chapter now and you could have access to it with ESO+ - just the necromancer class you would have had to buy extra if you want it. And ESO+ has given you the crowns for it anyway.

Expensive relative to what? A single weekly trip to the grocery store costs me around a hundred bucks. I spend twice that a month on cable TV. Ever take the family and/or friends out to dinner and pick up the tab?

Then again, if I had a lousy job, or no job, and was living in my parents basement, $100 would feel like a gut punch.

    It's all relative.

My biggest problem with ESO is the Plus membership as someone who prefers to buy content outright. Every time I buy a DLC, it devalues the membership and it's a huge pain in the ass to play without the crafting bag. If you're going to let me buy content outright, let me pay for the perks outright too.
Difficulty scaling is desperately needed. 11 years. 8 paid expansions. 29 dungeon and zone DLCs. 45 game changing updates including A Realm Reborn-tier overhaul of the game including a permanent CP160 gear cap and ridiculous power creep thereafter. Just because Cadwell Silver&Gold failed doesn't mean the game should be brain dead easy forever.

"ESO doesn't need a harder overland" on YouTube for a video of a naked level 3 character w/ no CP allocated AFKing in front of a bear for a minute and a half before dying if you don't believe me change is needed.

You did something wrong. Even assuming you started with nothing at all, which is unlikely, since you say you're a returning player).

ESO base game (that includes Morrowind) = 20 USD
    Greymoor chapter : 40 USD
    ESO+ 1 month : 15 USD

With that you have access to EVERYTHING in the game (like Lysette said, the crowns for the necromancer class are included).

Grand total is 75 USD, not 100.

yeah, same experience with ED - once you start doing any kind of activity you hit a wall pretty quickly and there is not much content and even trading is lame - EVE is awesome one doesn't run out of possibilities to further progress and so many things to do - in ED it takes just a few months and you basically have no further progress to be made beside pvp eventually - and this is lame as well compared to EVE pvp.

No one has to buy the chapter. More importantly, if someone does not want to wait until it is demoted to a DLC they can at least wait a short time until it goes on sale and save a few bucks. It is a choice.

.. in which case you should have mentioned that your "bucks" are actually canadian dollars. Because by default, everyone will rightly assume that they are USD.

Also, you mentioned being a returning player, so the 20 USD of the initial purchase of the base game are out of the calculation.

Finally, there are tons of places where you can get ESO base game or chapters cheaper than on the ESO store. If you don't want to invest some time and energy into looking for those places - which, I'd like to emphasize, are 100% legal and legit - then that's on you.

It looks to me that you want to game to be cheaper. Which is not exactly the same as it being "expensive".

Of course we have no insight into your budget and cannot say if it means a lot to you or not. You're the ultimate judge of what you do with your money. However, I'd suggest to compare the cost/hours ratio of ESO and other leisure activities (such as movies, restaurant, etc.. ) and, depending on how much time you pleasurably spend on ESO, it will probably turn out as very cheap.

I sorta of agree or I would not have spent the money...I am just commenting eso is more expensive than other games of the same quality.
And the $100 bucks sticker shock seems expensive compared event compared to what I originally paid for the game $50 bucks if I remember when it came out.
