You need to remmember 1 important factor. It is a melee skill, so you have to be in melee range. Magicka classes are not as durable is stamina and being a vamp on melee range is just bad. Try doing Depth of malatar for instant. Some the adds there spammable dawnbreaker like there is no tomorrow. I have seen a lot of 20k HP magicka DD, get deleted by single dawnbreaker or meteor

That's not correct at all.

Magicka DPS tend to have a higher health pool than stamina and possess way more access to shields and the like. This is precisely why progression Trial groups such as 4D run magicka compositions. That and the fact that Thrassian Stranglers is currently OP, BFB is so good and Roaring Opportunist is an easy (though a$$ backwards) way of applying Major Slayer to the group.

Now as far as vDoM goes you've either got a bad tank or dumb DPS if folks are getting squashed by Dawnbreaker. Noone other than the tank should be standing in front of those Aurorans.

I know this because myself and some guild mates just did it with 3 DPS and I was the tank wearing Yolnahkriin and Olorime. lol

I'm using it on a magsorc and it's great. Hits for 23k and when it crits I get healed if my crit surge is up. Great skill IMO. I use it on a stage 3 vamp.

In PVE, the “free” casts of BFB more than make up for the cost increase. However this only works for melee builds, so ranged Magicka builds and all Stamina builds get the significant cost increases without any benefits. Basically vamp is 100% required on all Magicka melee DPS (it is a massive 5-10k increase), while being only detrimental to all other builds (cost increase to all your skills and cannot even use vamp skills). It’s really not a choice now, there’s no risk vs reward, just mandatory vamp or mandatory cure depending on your class and build. Poor implementation IMO.

I'm using it my magcro to good effect, Ghost, Boneyard Synergy cover my heals and mitigate some of the Thrassian negatives.

I think I actually like it better on my sorc, easier play style means you can pay hyper-attention to mechanics compared to necro - melee range lets Boundless Storm proc Crit Surge reliably. If you screw up with 40 stacks of Thrassian you are toast.

My sorc running my old gear, nothing fancy, necro/4afliq/thrassian/Ilambris or Maw...nets me 53K mag, 7000! spd, 25K health. It literally just wrecks things.

That would be awesome makes sense since it’s melee attack it could do poison or disease damage.

Agreed, it’s not like anyone is using the Arterial Burst morph. Or just make BFB scale with the highest stats like several other skills do already.

In order for this to be effective, Magicka skill should stun from stealth like Stam skills do, and then maybe a mag gankblade would be competitive with a stam
