Excavation: add numerical depth indicator or allow hiding augur squares

It can be difficult to tell which tiles are on the same level, especially if you have green augur animations blocking your view and the tile is somewhat narrow (the top line for instance).

On mouseover, a number should indicate tile depth, with 0 being the tiles closest to the player.

[Edit] Alternate solution:

Problem is, that certain layers are very difficult to distinguish under the Augur colours.

I would love to be able to toggle the colours on/off.

If you are not color blind you will soon be able to distinguish the layer by the color and shape of dirt. Try to remember them. After 50th lead you will have no problems)).

I've been doing it for a while and I have the mythic item I was working on. By and large it's fine, especially if the augur detection squares are not on top of the tiles then there are no issues. When the augur squares are visible, especially when the square is green and has a flowing glow around it, there are cases where it's annoying. (NB I'm on minimum graphics, that might be part of the problem)

Yeah... to be honest they could have easily reduced the number of total layers and number of excavation charges both, without any actual effect on the game. Having a lot of action charges and a lot of layers just makes the system bloated but adds no real difficulty.

It's not like there is any danger on these layers whatsoever, once you find the right location you just dig dig dig and that's it. There are no hidden treasures between the layers, it's not like the Antiquity can be at a different depth other than rock bottom, so what's the point? The visuals look terrible too, it's like wading through never-ending piles of cat litter and dog poop.

Yes, that actually sounds like a more simple solution. Edited thread title.

You can always select Heavy Shovel (key D) to double-check, which tiles are on the same level, even if you don't have intuition.

I agree, and wrote a /feedback on it last week. However, this is a QOL thing, and as such, it is probably a place for some add-on to handle, if that is possible.
