I got on my first try.
    • Scrying and Excavation level 10 (but I didn't try earlier to be fair)
    • All Antiquities Achievements (even the 'find X leads' one)
    • Haven't done a single quest or achi in Western Skyrim (other than join the Antiquarian Circle ofc)
    • Collected all other Treasure Antiquities in all other zones first
Not sure what the exact requirements are, just saying that it does exist and these were the conditions for me finding it. Maybe some of these aren't necessary, and maybe it's just bugged. But here we go.

This is definitely in the right ballpark, showed up for me with all this met

I've heard from a couple people that it doesn't show up unless you have ALL of the purple treasure leads collected. I had completed all of those and it showed up right away for me.

It would make sense to require the completion of all other treasure Antiquities first. Since it's the most expensive gold treasure, it would be a fitting reward for people who did all the others already.

Try that, since others in this thread also seem to report that they saw it once they fulfilled that req.

I just had a friend try this and it worked for him so there may be something to that.

Yes, I just did this. I was missing 3 purple treasures (Stros, Betnikh, Southern Elsweyr) for some reason, just got them and the lead showed up to me!
No quest done whatsoever, just antiquities maxed out even though it appears not to be essential, all achievements, all purple treasures in every zones.

I can confirm, as soon as I got all the other treasures, the lead appeared

Ok, I haven't finished all the purple yet, but if that's what it took for everyone else, then I'll call this question answered!

The Al Esh Ascension Coin lead requires the finding of all the freebie green/blue/purple leads in each zone. It will then appear on the cabinet on the upper floor of the Antiquarian's Circle.

Thanks for helping me solve this mystery, friends!

Another thread says it drops from vampire-related monsters in Blackreach, but it must be rare.

That's the Font of Auri-El lead, not the Al Esh Ascension Coin lead.
Whoops! Thanks for setting me straight on that. I was confused. Thanks. *Looks sheepish*

Well after actually doing all the basic green-blue-purple leads in every zone, I can confirm that it DOES show up on the dresser after that.

And I just learned that level 8 in excavation/scrying isn't high enough to actually be able to use that lead. LOL. Guess I have to level them up some more.

Can also confirm. Getting every purple treasure dig from every zone causes the lead to show up.

I am not sure what this means for people who don't have access to every DLC zone (I checked after getting all basegame zones first before I cleaned up the last couple of DLC zones I needed).

I also couldn't help but notice that the coin has a count on it like items that can be obtained multiple times. I'm hoping this is intentional and it means its possible, rather than be the same issue with the Inert Daedric Spellstone in Eyevea.

I can confirm that the lead appears in the Antiquarian's Circle building when you have successfully completed all the non-repeatable purple leads in every zone.

Could someone please clarify whether you need each green treasure, blue treasure, purple treasure ONCE? or do you need to have 3/3 Codex for Green and Blue as well...

i believe you need to have certain achievements for the coin to show. i know for a fact you DO NOT need to be level 10 in the skill lines. I have people working on figuring it out now and it seems to be tied to the focal precision achievement and maybe leads master investigator.

    I didn't see it until I hit 10.

the ONLY achievements I was missing before were the ones you cannot get until you hit 10 (the one where you have to get all the foci in a single try - it requires ultimate dig and you cannot do one of those until you hit 10)

I also had all the treasures recovered at least once in every zone, including DLC and Eveya. its not related to completing all of the codex entries for those, cause I still don't have those completed and I dug up the coin, which I was able to see once I hit 10 in both scrying and excavating

You do NOT need to have Codex 3/3 on the items. You simply need to get them all once.

Almost certainly not. It unlocks on a condition that can be met only once per account. There’s no way to go back to a state where you don’t have the green, blue, and purple treasures done once each.

If it were repeatable, that would also be cause for concerns regarding inflation and “p2w” (such as it means in a game like this).

The spreadsheet said it can be found on a cabinet on the top floor of the Antiquarians's Circle, but I have all Antiquarian achievements and I don't see anything. Another guildie said they were standing right beside it, but nothing was showing up for me. So is it some sort of other achievement- or quest- related gate? Or is it not instanced, meaning if someone else picks it up after it spawns, I can't? Or does it have to do with possibly-existing cooldowns on acquiring gold leads?

Before anyone asks, no, I haven't already done this lead, so it's not that.

It doesn't show up for me either and I have all the green/blue/purple treasure excavated from all the zones (which is suppose to be what triggers it according to my information). So I can confirm there is something else involved to make it appear.

You've missed one then. All you have to do is all of the leads in each zone and it appears. I thought I had them all also and it still wasn't there so I ported to every single zone and discovered I was missing the one on the Mages island, Eyevea. I mean I never go there anymore, kinda forgot it existed.

You don't have to buy all DLC, you could sub for a month and get the Antiquities done before it expires. Or wait for the next free ESO+ trial period, though those only typically last for a week.

I don't believe the requirements involve any of the DLC zones, just the original game. It may require Cold Harbour but I can't check that until we can log in again. https://en.uesp.net/wiki/Online:The_Antiquarian_Circle
