More Apartments/Inn Rooms: DLC Zones

Those who want houses are still going to want houses to decorate and feel more spacious.

But what about apartments? Could be fun a good gold sink but also tied to an achievement for helping the zone.

Edited: Sorry about the misleading original title. The word "More" has been added and the word "Chapter" removed. Always read what you write before you hit Post.

There are already three apartments in the game-- not available for free, and not available in the DLC or chapter zones, but just a step up in price and size from the inn rooms:

11,000 gold -- Barbed Hook Private Room, Skywatch, Auridon
12,000 gold -- Sisters of the Sands Apartments, Sentinel, Alik'r Desert
13,000 gold -- Flaming Nix Deluxe Garret, Mournhold, Deshaan

I wish the AD apartment had been in a different zone, since there was already a free inn room in Vulkhel Guard, Auridon, so it would have been nice if the apartment had been in Grahtwood, Greenshade, Malabal Tor, or even Khenarthi's Roost.

The current and former chapter zones already have free inn rooms, so I'd much rather see apartments added to the other DLC zones before adding anything more to the chapter zones.

As it is, I believe that most (or all?) of the DLC zones have only large Crowns-only houses which are available only for limited-time runs before being yanked out of the Crown Store, and I suppose there might be a reluctance to add much more affordable apartments that can be purchased for nominal amounts of in-game gold in those zones for fear of cutting into potential sales of the pricey, limited-run, Crowns-only properties.

However, I think that hardcore collectors who want those properties would buy them for Crowns even if they already own an apartment in that DLC zone, and that only hardcore collectors are going to be willing to buy them with Crowns in the first place. (And I'm aware that Crowns and Crown Store items can be purchased for in-game gold, but I think the cost is more than any casual or "non-hardcore" players would be willing to pay, unless they've got a way to quickly farm such huge amounts of gold that they wouldn't bat an eye at the prices.)

I'm aware of the base-game rooms, but such inn rooms/apartments aren't going to cut into the housing market in DLC zones. They are too small. No one spends thousands of crowns for a large house just to use as a fast travel option.

Grahtwood has "snug pod" right in front of the eldenroot tree - a one room house quite conveniently located.

Yes. Small houses exist in the game.

there are actually quite a lot of houses below the 100,000 gold price tag -and chapters have an inn room available as well, hm, idon't know about the new one, because I don't own it, but the others have an inn room available in Vivec, Rimmen and Alinor.

You are correct. I tend to always put Chapter and DLC together in posts to acknowledge the types of optional content players can purchase. In this case, the Chapter/DLC combo was not appropriate. It should have read just "DLC" - for example, zones such as Murkmire. Apologies for the error.

Oh, and yes, there is an apartment in Solitude for the Greymoor chapter. It's called "Snowmelt Suite".

Right, I personally don't think it would hurt the housing market; but I'm guessing that ZOS might be afraid that it could.

As for buying a house for thousands of Crowns just to use it as a fast travel option, I agree about that, too, which is why I believe that (1) only serious collectors are going to buy those houses in the first place, and (2) they won't hesitate to buy the Crowns-only house just because they already own an apartment in that same zone since they're going to want to collect the house anyway.

However, the only Crowns-only house I've ever purchased-- yet (but probably not the only one I'll ever buy)-- is the Enchanted Snow Globe Home, and some small part of the reason why I bought it was its convenient location at the spot where the New Life Festival quests are handed out each year. Of course, the largest part of the reason why I bought it was its "coolness factor." And I'm definitely not a hardcore collector of houses, so if I'm willing to buy a Crowns-only house that's so close to a house that can be bought with in-game gold-- Grymharth's Woe, which I'd purchased long before buying the Enchanted Snow Globe Home on a whim-- then surely adding small, affordable apartments in DLC zones won't hurt sales.

Yes, but none of those are in DLC zones, are they-- just chapter zones? Something small and affordable in the DLC zones would be greatly appreciated.

Absolutely, i had hoped for a small grunge room somewhere in hew's bane's harbor area, but there is just this opulent palace - much too big.

Exactly. It's nice to have a mansion option, but having a kind of hole-in-the-wall safe house would be awesome

i tend to buy houses, if i like their design or the location or both - t doesn't matter if I have a house there already or not - each of them can be furnitured and styled in different ways and i like smaller to medium sized over larger ones. The largest i own is lucky cat landing in southern elsweyr - i like it's outdoor area, currently not even using the house itself. my most preferred house is sleek creek house in Rawl'kha - crafting area below the house, veranda for meeting friends - medium sized and conveniently located - and decently priced as well. such a house per dlc zone would be really nice.

currently i fancy the observatory in clockwork city - this is one of the most unusual houses - but so expensive.

I haven't had the time or cash to get into furnishing things beyond an inn room. I do have the two large houses they gave to players (Summerset and Elsweyr), but that's it. Smaller options (rooms and small houses) for DLC would be great additions B)

i never got that in Summerset, even I was there at the time when it was offered (guess I did something wrong then) - the one in Elsweyr I bought with ESO+ crowns. I do not even know where the Summerset one is located.

As far as furniture goes, you can well craft some decent stuff yourself - most of the diagrams do not require a lot of skills. Especially the Khajiit styles are really nice - some paintings and banners on walls and decent lighting and done - try it.

autumn gate in Riften is a good size as well - i have one side of the garden as crafting area the other side an outdoor meeting place for friends and a fireplace - inside the house on one side the living room area, in the middle the tea time area in front of the fire place and on the other side behind a divider my bed room in one corner with an outfit station and in the other corner jewelry and alchemiy crafting. Small and inexpensive house and still very cozy with all the crafting stations.
