Grahtwood has "snug pod" right in front of the eldenroot tree - a one room house quite conveniently located.
there are actually quite a lot of houses below the 100,000 gold price tag -and chapters have an inn room available as well, hm, idon't know about the new one, because I don't own it, but the others have an inn room available in Vivec, Rimmen and Alinor.

Right, I personally don't think it would hurt the housing market; but I'm guessing that ZOS might be afraid that it could.
As for buying a house for thousands of Crowns just to use it as a fast travel option, I agree about that, too, which is why I believe that (1) only serious collectors are going to buy those houses in the first place, and (2) they won't hesitate to buy the Crowns-only house just because they already own an apartment in that same zone since they're going to want to collect the house anyway.
However, the only Crowns-only house I've ever purchased-- yet (but probably not the only one I'll ever buy)-- is the Enchanted Snow Globe Home, and some small part of the reason why I bought it was its convenient location at the spot where the New Life Festival quests are handed out each year. Of course, the largest part of the reason why I bought it was its "coolness factor." And I'm definitely not a hardcore collector of houses, so if I'm willing to buy a Crowns-only house that's so close to a house that can be bought with in-game gold-- Grymharth's Woe, which I'd purchased long before buying the Enchanted Snow Globe Home on a whim-- then surely adding small, affordable apartments in DLC zones won't hurt sales.there are actually quite a lot of houses below the 100,000 gold price tag -and chapters have an inn room available as well, hm, idon't know about the new one, because I don't own it, but the others have an inn room available in Vivec, Rimmen and Alinor.
Yes, but none of those are in DLC zones, are they-- just chapter zones? Something small and affordable in the DLC zones would be greatly appreciated.

Absolutely, i had hoped for a small grunge room somewhere in hew's bane's harbor area, but there is just this opulent palace - much too big.
i tend to buy houses, if i like their design or the location or both - t doesn't matter if I have a house there already or not - each of them can be furnitured and styled in different ways and i like smaller to medium sized over larger ones. The largest i own is lucky cat landing in southern elsweyr - i like it's outdoor area, currently not even using the house itself. my most preferred house is sleek creek house in Rawl'kha - crafting area below the house, veranda for meeting friends - medium sized and conveniently located - and decently priced as well. such a house per dlc zone would be really nice.

I haven't had the time or cash to get into furnishing things beyond an inn room. I do have the two large houses they gave to players (Summerset and Elsweyr), but that's it. Smaller options (rooms and small houses) for DLC would be great additions
