Question about graphics

so I made the switch a little over a week ago to PC and I'm having an issue with my SubSampling Quality. So when I load the game its great looks beautiful going zone to zone no issues but as soon as I go to pvp or BGs it goes from high quality to low and even after I change it back to high if I hit a load screen it goes right back to low but in all PVE zones and and even in IC it stays at the highest setting. Does anyone know if there's a bug or a fix? Thanks you

CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 3700X 8-Core 3.6GHz

subsampling quality i have it on "high" with a much lower-end rig than yours and I can run 120fps on tamriel (not cyro)

    EDIT: ok, on cyro (I see you're also a PVPer) I have around 40-100 FPS w/ a ryzen 2600x and a Radeon 590

Same i run great fps even in pvp but every time I jump into pvp or BG my sub drops to low and even after resetting it to high once I hit a load screen its jumps back to low. It only does it in cyro and bgs

that's weird, try to modify your UserSettings.txt (iirc) before running the game and search for that particular variable

    I have it this way:

    SET SUB_SAMPLING "2"

    EDIT:

do you have nvidia geforce experience on?

Ok thanks ill give it a shot its just super annoying that it only does it in there and I don't understand why out of everywhere you can go in game it does it only in cryo and bgs and still find it odd that it does not also do it in IC since that is also a pvp zone 🤔

I wouldn't use it to tweak the game tbh, try to disable if the above solution does not work for you

Still dropping the quality to low im cryo every load screen even went in to do the hammer quest in pvp and quality went back to high and once I left back into cryo it dropped back to low 🤦‍♂️

GeForce Experience causes issues with some, all, Bethesda Games. Disable it for this one.

At least as a troubleshooting step.
Enjoy the game, life is what you really want to be worried about.

Pretty sure you have already checked, but do you have any of those addons intalled that automatically drop the graphics quality in pvp zones?

One of those being PvP fps 2018. among others.

"This addon changes your SubSampling Quality automatically when entering PvP zones (Cyrodiil and Battlegrounds), and restores it in PvE zones" quoted from addon page.

I have a few add-ons currently but which add-ons drops the subsampling?

    PvP fps 2018
    Shissu's Game/AvA Booster
    Votan's Adaptive (Video-)Settings

these are few addons that i'm aware of which can adjust graphic settings automatically. There could be more.

NVM. I see you found the answer.

You are saying your video quality "changes" all by itself? I don't understand how that is possible UNLESS you are using an Addon that auto adjusts for you. I know there is an Addon that will do that and that seems to be the culprit. I have an old 1800X system with dual 1080 Ti's and the video quality stays the same no matter where I go. In heavy populated Cyro areas the FPS does drop but the quality does not.
