I've had a 4K set for quite a while. On my second one in fact. When I first got my first 4k set there was only handful of 4k content to stream through Netflix, Amazon Prime, etc... today there is so much 4k content that is basically all I watch now. As for getting 4k through other mediums that are not on a disc or streamed are limited.
It depend how close you are to the screen and obviously how large the screen is, in short how much of your vision does the screen cover. The human eye can't even process the difference between 4k and 8k except possibly on very, very large screens. So... I guess let us know when our eyes can be surgically upgraded to tell the difference?

On some of the huge curved PC screens or VR 8K makes sense. For TV, you will not see it unless the TV is very huge say 200" as you get into cover most of you vision again.
