Seems past time to update the basic vampiric appearance, don't you think?

Because in Elder Scrolls vampires are not walking corpses, are alive and suffering from a magical disease, and aside from their eyes blend in seamlessly with society. Only in ESO do vampires suddenly become bright white corpses.
You do realize we are talking about different vampire strains here? Might as well ask why Nosferatu don't look like Toreador in VtM...

You might also recall that in those other TES games, vampires took damage in sunlight, yes?
While in ESO... this strain of vampirism doesn't burn in the sun (which is good, as the game gives four RL hours of sunlight to two of nighttime), but has other drawbacks, like the pale facedness...

So, its entirely lore-conforming. Sure, they made up new lore about this new strain to have it conform to, but that is their power and priviledge as the licenseholder. But none of the old vampirism shticks apply, because those were different strains of vampirism, so... there you are.

    ...

Though they really could put a little more care into it, at least for the tatoos and elf eyes! The rest tho, I'd want to see remain as it is, after all, we DO have six years of establishing it as the look of this particular vampirism strain...

Its irrelevant that its two different strains, no vampire in Elder Scrolls is actually dead.

Except they are technically undead while they carry the disease.

ZOS officially called the Vampire "Undead" end of story.

They're not alive, they're not dead, they're undead.

What's the definition of undead? "Technically dead, but still animate."

Anyone who disregards that purposefully chooses to be willfully ignorant in favor of their own personal canon.

EDIT: Also, I agree whole heartily with @TheShadowScout

The old way of feeding made much more sense in terms of the duality between the vampires humane, and monstrous nature. But it has always been the caveat that the more monstrous vampires are the more powerful, since that just makes a whole lot of sense.

Thank god we dont have the pretty vampires be the most Humane AND most powerful, that would ruin its duality completely.

I agree with that part, that vampyness visuals should be adjusted for tatoos and elf eyes, so...

It seems you came here with the sole purpose of being argumentative...
Nope. I am just annoyed when people use false arguments.
...like claiming something is "lorebreaking" when it isn't, just because its different from some things they got used to in other games which happened to be similar yet different things. And since they DID make up the new lore about the new strain... its entirely lore-conforming that this particular strain has the corpselike pallor...
...or forgetting that all characters have a "being murdered by mannimarco" in their backstory which puts their "living" state in a somewhat dubiuos set of circumstances... if only "technically" since, well, just because they got killed then, they certainly are not dead now, quite the contrary as they obviosuly use that shtick to explain recovering from death, yes?

That is the sole point of my discontent that spurned my reply - the "fake info" used here and there. And thus when I stumble over something like that... I feel compelled to correct it. But I made my point, so... no need to discuss it further, and like I said, the other part I do agree with.
They need fangs :( I'm not seeing them on vampires and that disappoints me more.
It -would- be a classic, would it not? I'd approve of vampired getting fanged!

    Pretty much, yeah.
It doesn't really matter what the details are, or which definition of "undead" is used by whom... ZOS makes the lore, so they say what goes. And they said, vampires of this strain have those looks.

Still could use some adjustment to show tatoos better and keep the elfy eyes gone vamp, but... guess we shall see if they ever find the resources to look into that, not like there aren#t tons of other things people want them to look into after all ;)

Vampires look rubbish in eso, that’s simply the way it is and ZOS can’t seem to be bothered to update it 🤬

On the plus side you could bear werewolves in mind... at least vampires can hide their skin under gear... werewolves still use base game models so they look garbage all the time 🤮 😆😆😆😆

No, I love my ghastly stage 4 appearance.

I'm so sick and tired of people wanting to ruin this for those of us who really like the look of the vampire.

Wear a skin, or keep begging ZOS to give us that damn mortal appearance - but don't ruin it for everyone else.

    This.

Stage 4 appearance is my favourite.

Ask the devs to make it a skin cosmetic option instead of ruining the appearances for those who currently enjoy it.

Since they reversed the mechanics eg. Feeding makes you stronger i see no point in thd bleak look with drained eyes. Rank 4 should close be to your normal look, but with red glowing eyes.
And so the Elder Scrolls foretold. You will be shy, and I will be bold.

The reason is that the look is supposed to reflect the corruption within you. Not strictly the vampiric version of malnutrition.

Well given the theme of this vampire clan, it makes sense in a way. But I still prefer if they toned down the corruption look just a bit.
Morrowind vampires were more, warrior, thief, mage, outcast, Oblivions Blending in and masquerading. Skyrims Frost, Illusion, Necromancy, blood magic as a vampire lord with a mix of blending in and masquerading up to a point. not to mention being the best Restorationists with the Necromage perk. Making them more powerful and increasing their weaknesses and making them better at stuff. (LIkely unintended but Never fixed by Bethesda could even head canon it as being part of how their blood works with that power over the undead they have within it. Because Skyrims Vampire clan did have that))

This games Vampirism focuses on the corruption part of the Vampire and it does seem to be the feel they are going for with it.

I did ask to make it an option and fix the tattoos. Read before getting angry.

I think what they should do is modify the stage four eyes a bit making them more like the volkihar glowing eyes and maybe tone down the veins a little bit.
    Then it would look better.
Or make skins that alter how the stages look to have more variance in vampiric appearances so vampires having skins that work with their own to make their stages look more interesting.

Honestly I'd be happy just having tattoos lay over the white. I'd love for stage 1 to way tone down the neon white thing because its ugly as sin but its insane that they sell us tattoos that we can't use.

Personally I would prefer it if they flipped the monsterous appearance while stage one had no weakness but couldn't interact with folks. While more well fed you can interact with folks and look stage one at stage four.
So I wished they actually flipped that around.

Worst idea ever for the love of god please don't do this ,having to put up with all the negative stuff of lvl4 just to get the cool look of lvl1

Well I would love to go around in pve and feed on things and I want to look stage one when well fed. Not stage 4.
You know what would be better if there was an option for it in the settings that way we get to choose which we would prefer. That would be better I think. Stage 4 look at stage one get shunned or stage 4 look at stage four and get shunned. So that would be a good thing if they could modify it so its personal preference. That way both sides can be happy.

Yeah I agree, personally I love that the more powerful you get the more monstrous you look. I just think the white overlay needs toned down and fixed to show tattoos, or at least give people an option to remove the white overlay. The eyes/veins are great imo.

If they changed the appearance to something more cool looking, all the manga-anime fans that like the current look would raise an uproar. This is why ZOS will never change it.

Same goes for low res textures of characters and armor. Some people like it pixelated, so ZOS can't touch it 🤷‍♂️🤷‍♂️🤷‍♂️

Unless they made it an option to either use the ugly broken overlay or just..not look like a giant tampon.
