Well established MMO right now with plenty to do and new content every quarter. If people are tired of the game they are better off looking for something completely new vs ESO part 2. If the lag/game issues are a reason for people to look for something new ZOS has been unable to fix the issue in 5+ years so why would TESO2 be any different?

ESO will carry us over into TES 6. My guess is another 1-2 years of content that will lead us directly into TES 6. Use one product to promote the other, marketing 101.

At least get all of Tamriel done before considering it. I think an eso2 would have to do some major thins differently to get me interested.

    1. Larger provinces by the time ESO2 comes out the older smaller style of cities isn’t cutting it. Something around Novigrad (Witcher 3) size for a large city
    2. I want water content back I both know the surface and underneath
    3. I want each zone to be fully fleshed out map with mountains. Each one is a complete province zone but way bigger than Skyrim.
    4. ESO only launches with one province but it’s super in depth and feels out.
    5. Flying mounts are now possible with the greater terrain size of the maps.
    6. Each expansion is an entire province at the new size and scale.
    7. Even better housing system with higher furnishing limits.

    Yes! Here's my reason......
I would like ZOS to take the lessons learned and apply them to another game. I'm mostly convinced that the performance issues are here to stay due to decisions made at the foundation of ESO. So yes, if ESO 2 would be better than what we have then yes we should.

That said, it doesn't strictly have to be an actual sequel. Other people have said that there's still more Tamriel to explore. We can explore the rest of Tamriel in a new game instead.

    Yes.

The game runs like garbage because of the junk engine they built it on. The only way to truly fix performance is to start over on a new engine. It also looks and feels very dated by this point (granted, so does every other major MMO since they all came out in the first half of this decade, or earlier).

Well.... they're working on another game. Dollars to donuts it won't be anything I'm interested in playing, which means nope I'm not interested in spending money on it. The only thing I'm interested in playing is TES (which at this point includes ESO) - so.... yeah.

As far as "junk engines": this game has been in development for a decade or more. There weren't so many engines available. It's difficult for game companies to "change horses midstream".

Developers don't have prescience - a decade or more ago, they chose what seemed the best option. Today, they might choose differently. However, this IS today - and they don't have the option to wipe the slate clean then magically "poof" the game. We all wish a magic wand could fix things.... well.... not in this world.

Could YOU have chosen an engine so many years ago which would have been more viable today? I doubt it.

I don’t intend to ever purchase another product or service from them outside of ESO chapters. And that’s even if ESO magically improves.

With that said, there’s zero reason for a TES2 anyway. The goal of ESO was to fill in the full (or almost full) map of Tamriel.

If they remade the game with a new engine, that might (potentially) be a good thing, but they would need to keep everything up until that point essentially the same (or not too different) and carry people's stuff over to the new version of the game.

Six years is far too soon to cut and run, leaving existing players having to start again from scratch.

Especially in a game with quite a lot of real life currency purchasing.

Many would probably just refuse to move.

Except that it didn’t always run like garbage. The first few years I played ESO on PS4 it ran beautifully. Even the PvP did except for primetime skill delay.

They neglected the game performance for so long yet now promise us “performance improvements”. [snip]

Like lol, how about I tell you about today.
I did Master Writs and on my ride to get to turn in my quests in Wayrest, all player characters were black silhouettes, NPCs were invisible, and large chunks of the ground and buildings had extremely low resolution textures. After turning them in, I rode back toward the Guild Traders and experienced the same thing.

Later on I had trials to run. Or at least I did until my ENTIRE RAID TEAM disconnected in vAS HM at the exact same time for “reaching the message rate limit”. And throughout all of our tries I was getting self-immobilized by my own Wall of Elements and Orbs casts. None of those things used to happen at all.

If you don't like the direction dev take then just change game.
    That what I did.
I've less and less fun, most content is clear and the competitive content is just unfun with all the bug, lag, fps drop and other stupid thing around.
I've no hope they'll fix anything so month ago I stopped my sub.
It end in few week but I already moved to GW2, and I've finaly lot of fun playing a game with 0 perf problem even with 100 player around me spamming skill in meta-event.

Eso it's a great game, but poorly managed, they release cash shop update and fix faster than any other thing.
There is bug in this game that are here since 5 years.
So, stop hoping for some change, if it's to much for you, go elsewhere.

A game like ESO thrives on microtransactions and players collecting all sorts of fancy pixelated shinies. Not only would they have to start from scratch with a new game, but they would never trust the company to not just do it again in a few years anyway. How many people will sink thousands into a game that will just be shelved for a new version and you'll have to do it all over again.

Actually, I stand corrected. EA does this every year with their sports titles and people seem to fall for it.

I wouldn't mind if the game is clearly had a good run and they make it clear the sequel would be 100% better, but if they just dump it out there half assed and worse if it has less features somehow lol then yeah there will be blood.

I have no reason to believe that ESO2 would be any different than current ESO is unless they decide to do it with a completely different team and make a different game completely, but then, it's not really a replacement for this one at that point. It's just ES6, which will be coming eventually.

ESO is still growing... the likelihood is that Greymoor will be their most successful chapter. So no impetus to move into a new game.

Most importantly for a new project that would have to have a ‘working’ life of around a decade, it’s out of touch with the console development stage... the new PS and Xbox models aren’t out and will almost certainly be delayed or will see some kind of launch disruption. You’d be mad to launch a new, long term gaming server system for technology that is effectively out of date (eg PS4, Xbox ), you want the new consoles to be the baseline so you need takeup to have reached a certain level before launching.

I would like ESO2 in Warhammer unverse, like it is future ESO, but Warhammer ESO.
Civilization evolved and ended up in Warhammer. That would be awesome.

I can already see DLC called "Long journey". It would bevlike on one occasion, after 6 months of Immaterium warp, and 2/3 of the crew dead, with course wrongly plotted, they emerged from void, and they stumbled upon Azeroth. Psijic fleet comm officers managed to establish telepathic link to Immortal Emperor Emeric. The order is received. Extermintaus.
Fleet moved to position and orbital bombardment brought Azeroth to rocks drifting in space. Planet exploded.
Fleet set new course. That is a new DLC.
Boy ESO 2 - Warhammer would be awesome.
