Yucky Stuff - ESO going downhill even faster - Is ESO still fun for you?

I haven't had a crash in a couple weeks and with the stuff I do the game is fine. Very little lag and high FPS (for the most part). I feel bad for the PVP people because at one time (Warhammer Online and shortly thereafter) I was a big PVP guy myself).

Yes, tons of fun. If it stopped being fun I’d stop playing.

Yes, I am still having fun and I have lots to do. I don't PvP at all, though, therefore, many issues hitting this part of the game miss me by a mile.

I'm actually enjoying the game more now that I have previously. The lag and long loading screens suck, but the game is fun.

In regards to your question wondering if PvE players are having fun, I am somewhat frustrated with overland and instanced group content. Monday's update pretty much took care of the skills misfires for me in low to medium intensity environments though roll/dodge and break free still exhibit some flaky behavior. In high activity content such as world or dungeon bosses I am still seeing as many misfires for combat and avoidance skills as I did before the update. It is too the point I am logging in to do my crafting dailies, pick up the daily reward and some quest dailies that don't require a lot of heavy combat. If I had to put it into time playing my guess is it's about half of what I would typically play.

As a solo/cooperative PvEer, the game hasn't deteriorated for me and continues to run well as it always has done. I'm having as much fun as I always have.

Ya, it's still essentially unplayable in PvP even after Monday's patch during prime time. It might be a tiny bit better other times of the day....maybe. The incremental fixes in the incremental patches are incremental, at best.

I'm convinced their only hope for a real fix is to rebuild the game around a modern game engine; to just start over. It's worth it. This game has at least 5 more years in it if it would work as intended. They've really created something special with ESO...but it has to be play'able.

PvP has been extra yucky since the Feb 5th patch. Combat is literally smashing buttons 5-6 times hoping it goes off just once. Break free is glitchy and broken. Can't bar swap. It's not enjoyable.

I have plenty of fun. Came back fresh after a hiatus....so many options for whatever my mood for the day is: battlegrounds, pugging, vet dungeons with friends, dailies, resource farming, level an alt, progress through VMA,...practically whatever I want to do.

    But YMMV, I suppose.

Same boat. I took whole year off to avoid content and get away from mess the company made. So far back and pve has been enjoyable. But I have yet to touch pvp. Maybe later with BG's only due to Cyro is trash and broken.

Yes ESO does have it's problems, and some may never get solved. But if ESO still wasn't fun to play, I would have stopped playing when the fun ended. If you think ESO is that bad now, ask anyone who's lived through 1.6 how bad things can be.

It’s not fun. Logged in. Went to Cyro. Fought despite lag. Hit a positional desync. Logged out. Went and played Red Dead Redemption 2 the rest of the night.

Op hit the nail on the head. The game is not fun right now.

the HIGH ping and lagg for me makes pvp unplayable, im holding on but ... idk

I thought you were enjoying the animations with the new block changes. You can see them now, aren't you happy? [snip] Now the whole enetirety of pvp is a buggy mess but hey at least I can see and enjoy my relentless focus bow proc for the next 5 seconds. Maybe animation canceling was there for a reason for not causing positional delays and add another layer of lag which is causing skills to not even register.

Well for me. Canceling sub and gonna definitely get that refund for Greymoor as soon as I finish this cigarette lol.

I ain’t quitting; but, there’s nothing to look forward to. The game is broken for anybody playing at a high level PvE or PvP. I’m just playing other things that are fun.

Had a great time today, ran a bunch of pledges with some friends and really enjoyed it.

Lots of achievements, speed runs, no deaths etc.

    Excellent fun.

Eso is now a game which is hardly ever a game more a tedious task to shout at.The pve is ok when yo don't go in crowded areas. The dungeons are ok but repetitive. The new content is for making money so its flash at first then dare i say it repetitive.
What i want to do is play PVP but this is a hopeless task of standing around trying to use skills or zoning .I'm not sure if every-one has this issue but i'm guessing most do but put up with it because yes a positive the graphics are good when the frames go down yes when your alone...
The past few months for me have been bad from dc's to crashes and more crashes to skills just not work the way they're obviously meant to.People talking about Lagg then the castles with the vanishing corners "what is that about?".
Eso catering for animation canceling over performance How silly is that to cut the action in game-play? I don't know maybe its just me that thinks eso is lazy to allow too many add-ons,why not make the game themselves then they could fix it?..Whats it been nearly 5 yrs and its like day one only with 10 times the map and Cyrodil has 10 times the issues.Big Brother(ESO) will probably give me yet another reminder of the terms and conditions but hell i paid for this and want to be able to play ....

In my opinion, this is close to being as bad as it was in 2014 when this game first released. I mean, it's virtually unplayable at this rate ESPECIALLY for PvP. 60fps for more than 10 seconds in an open zone is out of the question, same for ping. Last year I never saw my ping go over 100, now this year I hardly see it go under 100.

100 ping. I'd inject pure coronavirus straight into my eyeballs to get <200 ping.

Yea pretty much. The lagg and bugs are gamebreaking. I find the meta just as bad tho, tankmeta is just so boring, its been going on forever now. I decided to stop playing for now. (again) Too many factors contributing to the game not being enjoyable.

So ZoS pushed another fix to live servers, trying to "alleviate" some "yucky stuff" going on.

So yesterday went Cyro with a group to check the improvements:

    - Getting booted to log in screen for blocking > Aparently solved.
    - Input delay > Not entirely solved but a bit better

    But now we have:

    - Even higher lag than before (>300ms avg on prime time [EU-PC]No-CP).
    - Gap closers not working due to heavy positional desyncs - You actually move back instead of forward sometimes.
    - Perma slow bug is worse, you can get perma slowed until death, now more than ever (debuff wears off/is cleansed but slow remains untill you respawn)
    - Impossible to use skills due to major lag - We don't have as much input lag but server doesn't respond to our inputs at all.
    - CC immunity is not working, even after using immovability potion and skill that gives immunity, players are still getting CCed.This is going on for a long time before this "fix".
    - Damage is not being registered whatsoever - Probably due to huge desyncs going on
    - Keep doors at 0% but still visible and unpassable ; resources flipped but still appear as enemy ; Be able to use (apparently enemy) Keep doors to go inside.

So this is not even fun anymore, it's a huge mess where players struggle to be able to play, maybe have a few minutes of fun before the bad performance and bugs kicks in.

I wonder, on another perspective, why would anyone would be willing to continue to pay for such a product? I'd really like to hear GMs/Devs/Management arguments on this.

Would be nice to see some feedback and comments from experienced pvp groups and members about this, and also what PVErs feel about this new "fix", does ESO still feels like fun for you?

    This funny.
I never get this in my pc na accnt.
But I get all of it in my ps4 na accnt.

In my ps4, this is in bg, I hit a player with dizzy swing until stamina is out and never registered any damage at all. Then I die, lol.

In my pc, I always register damage with my attack, I still die though, coz I am a glass cannon.

Both pc and ps4 accnt have 4k damage.

The game plays virtually the same as it always has, with small changes. The fluidity of animations is an excellent change, and the same old frame rate drops and lags are still there. Considering they’ve been there since memory, I can’t say anything has gone “downhill.” It’s always been a win some, loose some.

Funny how you chastise others for not specifying the issues are mainly in PvP (even though they did) and yet you never clarify that you RP and never engage in any form of competitive PvE or PvP. Please be consistent.

It’s been terrible since Murkmire or even before let’s be honest.

The combat changes haven’t been good for 2 years now. 2 solid years of every update making combat worse than the update before.

Does anyone get held accountable at ZOS?

Wrobel got a lot of the blame but his combat system was A LOT better than the utter bs that’s on ESO now

Wrobel was ok - however, he did have a vision for combat in ESO and he cared about the game. When he made balance changes, or failed to, it followed a respectable pattern. Obviously he made unpopular changes and wasn’t considered all that good of a combat lead but it’s not like the fun of combat in ESO was being slaughtered. In other words, we used to have hope that the game could dramatically improve even under Wrobel’s leadership.

What we have now is a team which has taken the absolute worst route possible - homogenization of all classes and skills. It can’t get worse than it is rn. Same skills, different colors - it will require massive reverting of nearly all tooltips and combat mechanics to get us back to where we used to be. Plus the combat is significantly slower and more clunky/buggy.

ZOS needs to completely rethink their balance decisions by REFERRING TO HOW ESO PLAYED 3-5 YEARS AGO to better understand what ESO combat is meant to be like.

I have no faith in the current team whatsoever. There is no vision, no direction. Just spreadsheet balancing. 100% missed the point of ESO’s formerly fast-paced, unique-build promoting combat.

Still fun. I don't have time for unfun hobbies really. Posts like this are always sooo overdramatic. If the game's really that broken then why are you wasting your time on it? Take a break, check it in a few months or something.
