Hopefully they will be integrated into the new Antiquities system they are developing for Greymoor. Finally that stockpile of various maps on chars might be useful...
If I ever do decide I just don't feel like doing on, I'll put it in the guild store. They usually sell for 150-200 gold. Hey, it's better than nothing and I made someone else happy.
Ive been playing regularly since beta and havent yet grown tired of treasure maps. I always see something neat or players doing funny things out and about.
I agree that they could use just a bit more quality items or variety in them. Expanding the loot table to include some of the newer items added to the game would make them more desirable.
I use to love them. Now I hate them. The reward needs to be increased to make them worth the time to find them. 500 gold in the chest...I may actually do them again rather than delete them.
Imo they could revamp chest hunting so it's more goal oriented. Competing for open world chests in the early days of this game was a lot of fun when there were a lot of players.
They're cool and all... but static. Once you've found a location, it's the same location again and again. In addition, the loot is unrewarding. Even if it was JUST gold in a significant amount (say, 10k or something), that would be something, but as it is, they're just not worth going after.
Picked up a few more maps yesterday, and, you know what? I love them! They make me visit areas I haven't been to in the past 2 years, so a win-win situation.
I get them when I happen to be near the target. I use addon, I got bored of figuring them out after a while. Too much hassle for mediocre rewards. But I never delete them.
