The Big Switch to PC

What’s Going On

I’m making a soft transition in going back to my original account on PC NA. Seems like a lot of people switching over to pc lately. I do not have 18 max level characters or 10 million gold waiting for me here. No, just one CP 160 and a bunch of under 10’s.

The game is quite enjoyable I’d have to admit. You really lose sight of that on a max level, geared to the teeth character. Running around in garbage you picked up is totally the Skyrim experience!

So Why Are You Really Here

I wanted to try all these add ons and see how much better they make the game for ya. To be honest they’re a complete different learning curve and haven’t helped much yet. Meaning I’ve spent more time trying to figure out how to use them and make them work and do what I want.

Some people’s add ons have been quite obtrusive. Had some guy bugging me for an item that dropped in a dungeon; I hadn’t even realized I picked it up. Had a guy pester me in FG1 because apparently he was doing %90 of the damage and we needed to kill the next 2 bosses for Me to get experience. In battlegrounds, I got called such names it wouldn’t be appropriate to re-tell that here.

The PC market is freaking ridiculous. You can’t just list something for what you think might be a good deal to make some quick gold off the top of your head. Someone might slap your wrist for undercutting the guild. You can’t price something 1 gold piece more than ttc says or it won’t move. You list stuff out right, it sells out every day with a quickness. People are openly monitoring this stuff and buying and re-selling like that is the business. It’s a tuff market.

But The Game Is Dying?

I got in to some PvP trading guild. These people don’t shut up. Chat is rolling the whole time I’m on and there’s never less than 100 people on. Trying to follow a conversation is beyond me here. Which also bugs me because the chat window is directly over your exp and loot window. I can’t tell wtf is going on with it.

What About Your People

PS4 is my home still. I have a Prog team and max level characters, mount upgrades, bank full of stuff, houses etc. Some of my Prog team only come on this game for Prog. That’s about where I am with it. Maybe I can learn something on PC that could help my console gaming out? It’s kind of a secret little hope. Hehe.

but this little PC side project is bringing some new spark back into this old game.

Slowly integrate addons into your play not all at once; I haven't met a single PC player yet that literally downloaded the game and the 135412345 addons all at once that everyone and their mother recommends. Start with ones you know you want then work your way up from there.

I've never had this issue with the PC Market of someone "slapping my wrist for "undercutting" the guild". My guild just cares that you sell stuff and stay active, it's not even a specific sell amount of some arbitrarily high number, they don't care if another guild comes in to buy their crap and then flip it for a higher price. We still got our money.

TTC is also extremely inaccurate and is easily obscured as some people like to list massive amounts of the same item to screw with the data; most people use MM or ATT in addition to TTC to fine-tune their pricing data. (MM/ATT will only show you items in YOUR trade guilds and what average amount they sold for. Not listed for, sold for.) TTC is better for an "idea" of what to list it for but not good for an all-you-can-be knowledge base.

For the guild just make a separate chat window, someone will PM you if it's important but otherwise just keep all your heavy chats in a separate window and flip to them when you aren't busy or are doing casual things. I know I only keep my single "New Player Friendly" guild in my main chat window as I like to be able to answer questions there, my other four guilds are in side windows that I flip to when I feel I have extra time to chat.

Welcome to PC and it's good to hear you love the game.

Just for starting out I’d say there are a few essentials:

Advanced Filters: improves individual inventory management (and Inventory Insight for keeping track of gear across multiple characters)

Awesome Guild Store: improves searching and interfacing guild traders

Action Duration Reminder: Overlays a timer on your ability bar for ongoing skills.

Wykkyd’s Toolbar: adds a toolbar with a variety of helpful information

Dressing Room: allows you to save and switch between multiple gear and skill load outs with the press of a button, I.e pve builds for different roles or pvp builds.

For pvp, I’d start with CyrHud and Kill Counter if that’s something you’re looking at doing.

There is nothing more satisfying then getting your UI to look exactly the way you want it with addons.

Learning the power of Addons like Master merchant with TTC with Awesome Guild Store blows your mind the first time you try deal hunting.

Doing writs with Doulgon Lazy writs is a game changer.

Having FCO ITEM saver with Auto Categorie, Advanced Filters and Bank Manger Revised changes management to a next level.

And if you like Immersion here is a List of addon I made
    https://forums.elderscrollsonline.com/en/discussion/511483/last-draft-need-your-input-for-settings-and-addons-for-immersive-gameplay-for-a-future-guide#latest

Now with great power comes great responsibility, you have to start putting some time into each addon to truly understand and customize it to your settings. Like learning to Fly a airplane, once you know how it takes you to amazing places ;)

P.S. Get Minion Program to automatically download, install and update your addons.
Get Addon Selector Addon to help you organize your addons
Get Votan Addon List Addon to automatically add the Libraries you need for addons

You have to separate your chat into tabs. Remember, on the PS4, you all can talk to each other. On PC, we only have text chat in game. Some guilds use Discord or Teamspeak for comms.
Enjoy the game, life is what you really want to be worried about.

PakKat "Everything was going well, until I died"
Gary Gravestink "I am glad you died, I needed the help"

the best thing about pc gaming is buying a new pc and selecting all the fancy new components...

this year a lot of great gpu's and cpu's will come out later this year...especially the new gpu generation coming in spring is said to bring a huge performance bump

This is a good example of personalization addons, and ones you should def wait to download. Things like mini map, sky shards, and lore books addons are new player friendly they are not intrusive and just help with the leveling exp.

    Thanks for the tips!

I having issues with Votan’s I think or maybe Bandits. There’s a dozen of each for add ons, so I had to turn some things off I couldn’t figure out.

The mini map went right in the center of my screen. Couldn’t figure out how to move it.

My brightness slider keeps going back to far left dark. I disabled votans advanced ui and basically any kind of ui ad on I downloaded to make it work right again,

To get back to the menu where I can change things, you have to hit escape. Then all this messed up stuff goes away.

So far these add ins are more a pain in the but then help.

Try doing daily writts on multiple characters with an addon called Dolgubons Lazy Writt Creator. I wouldn't even bother doing writts on single character if not for this addon.
