If it's some dlc event it's clearly to boost sales so only improvement might be doing it less grindy: less collectible parts and lower tickets cost as people already cashed out for it.

As holiday festivals goes it's different. It should be celebration and not grind fest. More furniture for ingame gold, returning rare clown store items for those who into this and all the "parts" of a reward should be definitely tradeable so everyone will be able to complete them and actually have some fun. And tickets generally should be used making up for having no dlcs or absence from past events as you kinda getting it when others enjoyed it already. Before ticket introduction people had way more fun in general and had way less complains.

The idea of fragments that don't waste inv space is a good thing, but having them added by default to your collections is not, it is an awful idea. There are collectibles such as the alfiq cat parts, which can be added to your collections on use, if you need them.

A friend of mine offered to give me her voriplasm pet fragments, but since these are bound, you can't even gift them or trade them. A greedy solution to make people buy tickets.

There are other ways to make money, really. Increase the sub for people who want more housing slots or need more inventory or want faster research time, etc. Make new original costumes and cosmetics... furniture packs, don't get lazy with these cash grab schemes from mobile games!

I did not have time to play every day for this pet which seemed cool as furnishing for a crazy alchemy experiment. I really dislike that I need to wait another year to get it, and that there are no pages to buy to complete this pet. I need two more fragments, so that means 2500 crowns. No thanks... are you people crazy?

Might we inquire what you spent your event tickets on from this event?

please stop assuming a majority of anything when posting. it doesn't give credibility but rather shows ignorance.

what I like about this event.

smart loot in that I didn't get 7 of the same pieces for the pet. in other words I did not get NOT one duplicate for either.

pieces went straight to achievements and didn't take any bag space.

    double daily rewards and nodes.

random method of getting a extra yellow box drop ( got two just from doing the three dailies)

was easy to get the tickets and first box drops by just doing the world boss daily.

the ability to buy pieces via tickets.

that you actually had to participate to get the pet and not just buy it off the merchants.

    what I don't like

price of pieces at 5 tickets is too high. three is more reasonable.

limit of twelve tickets is too low.

lack of new items to buy with tickets.

I dont think there's anything wrong with the mechanics they're using, they just need to make the event more rewarding; with the strongbox drop rates so low (sat 2 hours grinding a worldboss, got 3 extra boxes in that time) and the fragment rates even lower, it just isn't worth it from a time perspective to even try to grind everything out by playing.

If my napkin math is right, we got 39 tickets this event (13 days x 3 tickets), with 70 tickets worth of new stuff (1 berry @ 10 tickets + 14 fragments @ 70 tickets), so there's at the most 31 tickets of stuff that needs to be made up for.

I'd say increase the drop rate for the strongboxes (50%+ chance per worldboss at least), and stick a ticket in each strongbox, that way even if you dont get a fragment drop, there's at least an avenue to guarantee getting everything over a reasonable amount of hours worth of play ( 62 world bosses/13 days, should only need to do 5/6 kills a day to get everything).

    Just my thoughts, anyway.

I really wish each zone would get daily quest giver 1 for world boss and 1 for delve in that zone. Plus, double drops for say one week out of a year for each zone. Once you have completed some area’s there is little reason ever to go back and explore or just wander around the area. Could really care less about tickets or fragments for each zone.

Another thing with the Thieves guild and darkbrotherhood events coming up. I really wish they would add a new map (Heists and Sacraments) each year to the rotation of the daily quest to help spice thing up.

    70+10=70 apparently lmao

80 tickets, so 41 tickets needed to get everything, or yeah 70 if you ignore the berry.

More double XP / double AP events. Would be best when they give double XP for every event.

I'm really pissed that they nearly cut the jester festival in half. This year March 26 to April 2, last year March 19 to April 2. One of four events that give double XP :(

What I like in current zone events - double rewards for dailies and more resources from nodes. What I don't like - limited amount of event tickets we can hold, more and more indriks, and fragments bound to us. Indriks were nice reward at the beginning but now it's just too much of them. Fragments we can't trade or sell are terrible idea.
I would love to see more items designed specifically for event theme (like last years facepaint and crown from Jester Festival): outfits, mounts (not pets, please!), skins, personalities, furniture etc. I would point you at Star Trek Online - a couple of times per year there are really good event rewards (maximum tier starships for event progression and sometimes also other stuff, which can be bought with event currency). While quality of activities can be discussed (but they're always doable by everyone - I mean no Midyer Mayhem or so...), the main reward is always a big one, because you get special ship for free (well, for your time in game to be precise) and ships of this level are normally available only in STOs equivalent of ESOs crown store.
Agree, especially the chance of getting an fragment who can not be traded like motif pages was an horrible design.
The outfit styles we had the last events worked well, they could be used for pets and costumes too like in many chapter public dungeons.
Grinding just make you go in circles.
Asking ZoS for nerfs is as stupid as asking for close air support from the death star.

I like the concept of the events, where they celebrate a particular zone of the game and encourage people to go there. I prefer that kind of thing to games reflecting RL seasonal events, tbh. I'm a bit fed up with 'Xmas', 'Halloween' etc in mmos. I'd rather games had their own cycle of seasonal celebrations.

I confess the Murkmire event was the first one I've experienced, and I liked it because I'd never explored Murkmire before, but, I wish it had more of a 'festival' feeling. It would be great if we were going there because it was a special Argonian holiday or something. I wish there'd been more fun things to do, more things to collect and a generally more jolly atmosphere. There could be special Argonian holiday furnishings, more pets, mount drops, costumes etc etc...just...more. Give players stuff.

There are plenty of things to 'work' for in the game. Your own skills, best gear, getting good at dungeons, levelling up etc. Not everything has to be a grind or effortful. We're paying for, and playing the game, for larfs, not to get a promotion, pay our taxes, pass exams etc etc. This is supposed to be fun and something people do when they aren't doing all the grindy RL stuff.

I think there should be a variety of events to celebrate all aspects of the game, but for the zone-based PvE ones, let them be appropriate to the place and joyful, full of prizes and nice to look at.

Would be nice if Impresario would have a more diverse merchandise for those who neither want another Indrik reskin nor mementos they would never use.. Doesn't need to be anything new, could be a selection of event theme style pages, furniture and gear in desirable traits. Could be even expansive in tickets but at least more people could get what they have use of.

I love the events, I think they are so much fun, but something was off with the Murkmire one. I am guessing this is the first time they did this and it sucked. I only got one loot box a day (of course) but it was always those stupid grave stakes (one time I got the elder staff style)! I wanted flubber 2.0, and what sucked more was that in the loot box you got one piece out of seven to make the little flubber. It didn't make sense to me. For the Undaunted event, if you wanted an armor style, and didn't get it in the dungeon, you could buy it with the tickets for like 5 or 10 tickets no biggie. 1 piece out of 7 was 5 tickets. Mr. Flubber 2.0 was not worth 35 tickets. Idk, the Murkmire event was weird and I didn't like it. If they stay away from that kind of event I would be happier.

Too many events is my biggest issue. What I would like to see:
    • EVENTS: These are the special events like Anniversary, Jester, Witches, and New Life. Here you earn tickets that can be spent on event-themed content like a mount, pet, etc. No more fragments for mounts, just a flat ticket price like the indrik pets though it would be fine to have more. A new quest/achievement added each year would keep things from feeling as stale for those around since the beginning.
    • CELEBRATIONS: These celebrate the anniversary of chapter and DLC releases. However, they only happen twice a year; once in summer for all chapters, once in a different quarter for all DLCs. No tickets, but double drops for mats, boxes, and rewards. (So Sunspire double drops during chapter celebration, Blackrose double drops in DLC celebration, etc). This allows people to pick whichever zone they want and they can focus on it, or do rounds throughout them all. Zones wouldn't end up quite so packed if people were given a choice.
    • COMBAT: Would need a better name, but these would be for Midyear, BGs, Undaunted. Earn double AP, double telvar, double keys, double motif drops in dungeons. Maybe rare unique rewards thematically tied to the content you're doing.
I feel that condensing the celebrations into two different times a year would go a long way towards events feeling special again. There would likely be the added benefit that less people are farming any one given zone thus reducing the large price drop we see during an event.

Last, bound things like the fragments from this event need to go. Trading and gifting are a big part of participating in these events and not being able to do that made the Murkmire celebration feel like a much more solo endeavor. Fragments are a good idea in theory, but in practice they need some tweaking. Mainly, the ability to choose to consume the fragment before it goes to one's collection. Prior to consumption, the item remains an inventory object and can be traded/sold as usual.

TLDR: Basically, we'd still celebrate the same things each year, just on a different schedule with less emphasis towards tickets and grinding.

This event felt way too grindy and pushing predatory microtransactions.

I'm worried the Jester's Festival will be the same, if not worse. The new pet fragments drop from the first box each day. There are 7 fragments, but only 8 days (although in practicality, it's probably more like 7 days with the reset).

If the pet fragments are a guaranteed drop, players will have to participate basically every day of the event. There's no leeway to miss a day.

If the pet fragments are anything less than guaranteed, it will be practically impossible to get the pet without using event tickets. At least with Murkmire, there were nearly twice the amount of "guaranteed" boxes, and the possibility to drop additional boxes. It was much more feasible to earn the pet or memento with boxes only.

Not to mention the fact this event will likely add both an indrik berry and an indrik pet, so 20 tickets right there. At eight days, there will either be 16 or 24 tickets available to earn during the event. Cash shop anyone?

My favourite event from the last two years was the Summerfall event, where players could work together to ensure everyone was rewarded.

I liked the inclusion it brought, but above all I liked the friendliness and camaraderie it encouraged. The fact that people on multiple servers were helping other players get their achievements.

“Port to Arteum” was a great example of an event encouraging players to get together. And ultimately that, not a slime pet that’s obtained by RNG or another badly coloured in horsey you can only get from a gamble box, is what builds a game and a community.

More of this please. And less of the godawful marketing driven cash-ins.

This. The 5 year anniversary had similar elements because people gathered to kill world bosses and they shared dailies. They grouped Murkmire encouraged solitary play due to the issues of boxes dropping off of anything and resource farming competition, and there was no social mechanism like trading fragments to encourage player communication. And it was a boring and endless grind to get the fragments, 5 of which I had to buy with tickets in the last three days of the event. It would not otherwise have been possible for me to get all of that without the grinding due to the RNG. With hindsight, I would not have spent the time.

I get why ZOS did what they did with the drops, putting them in as collections instead of tradeable items, even outside of the obvious monetary incentive. If you sift through TTC you can see the vast number of drops people ground out for gold during the events that just sit unsold at low prices, which telegraphs to players that they have no real incentive to participate and can just purchase rewards with minimal effort once an event is over - that makes the events meaningless and the rewards less special to the community, so their new approach makes sense. But they miscalibrated on Murkmire by making the drop mechanic so horrible - players invested in completing collections were given limited opportunity to do so unless they spent real money. If they force the collections mechanic, the fragment should be a guaranteed single daily drop from a given task with RNG drops afterwards, and that daily drop should be RNG without replacement, which encourages participation.

Also, I think the stake memento is just bleh. It's not interesting, and its only value as a memento is how it will remind me of what a terrible grind the Murkmire event was. If the toon jammed it into the ground or something (which is where the stake belongs), at least you could use it in PVP as an alternative to teabagging or kiss this. It makes me wonder if they use focus groups before they spend resources designing stuff, but perhaps my tastes are not representative of the community. I want mementos and emotes that I can use to gloat in PvP, or goof around to make me and other people laugh. I also understand that the RP guilds want stuff for them, and I'm fine with that. I just wonder how the stake would play into those scenarios.

So, in short, events should encourage cooperative player interaction, and they should offer achievable and desirable rewards understood to be interesting to players which are earned by doing something entertaining with a social component.

I liked Summerfall and last years dragon event. They encouraged helping others with achievements, and everyone got rewards in the end. This type of event could be used to encourage people to go back to old zones.
I also like to be able to trade event loot with other people. I don't like being stuck with 3 grave stake fragments, I'd rather give them to someone who wanted that memento.
Cash shop """events""", like in Blade and Soul are a big no-no for me. It's honestly quite appalling to see ESO moving in this direction. I really hope that the law catches up with this predatory stuff asap.
