I have 44GB of free space, but the launcher is reporting that I need more free space to do an update. Yes that's right, just an update!
With the amount of development incompetence, I'm bewildered as to how this game stays afloat at all.
If you guys can't figure it out on your own, reverse engineer Blizzard's launcher.
When you learn how to download and install at the same time, I'll give you some credit.

The update is about 65GB though...

You know, the one where you will have to re-download the whole game. The one ZOS has been talking about for the last 6 months or so.

Uninstall eso and re download it. The game needs 120gb free to do the patch but it took my eso folder from 120gb to 67gb. And you are also insinuating blizzards installer/patcher would be compatible. Both games are made with different code. Please don't co.paire an old game to something newer. Also do not act as if it's simple, making a functional patcher that can UNINSTALL AND REDOWNLOAD the ENTIRE game is not possible as a patch and play. Educate your self before making dumb statements please.

The funny thing is, having less than 200GB free on your computer is likely to cause issues with your operating system anyway. Consider it like needing ‘room to move’. Between updates and save files (even if you did manage to get the game running) you’d probably be posting your leaving thread within a month anyway.

If you want tech advice then clean out the rubbish from your computer, everyone has that one folder they don’t *really* need. ;)
Then if you do manage to install it all it will have a chance if running properly. Filling your drive up to the chest is bad enough, you’re trying to fill it up to the eyeballs.

Having less than 200gb space is likely to cause os issues?

Er no , no not isn’t

OP, updates in ESO are large. This is not just a patch but a major update. Also, this is a really major update since Zos reworked the code for the game. They have been informing us of this for months. Sorry you do not frequent the forums and the ESO news section to stay abreast of what is happening but Zos did their part informing us of this.

@ZOS_BillE might be able to give you some tips but I do not expect them around until tomorrow.

200mb? In the current year? On a pro version of Windows maybe, not Home though.

You’d be surprised what nonsense windows uses as temp that it’ll reclaim if needed

Personally I never run my gaming pc under 10pc of its capacity but 200gb is very extreme

Whoa, a tablet? You’re basing your argument on a tablet? Even Microsoft Surfaces use Windows 10 Pro which takes up 12GB and you can buy them with up to a terabyte of storage - last I checked anyway, could be more now.
I’ve seen laptops with 250GB of main storage (stupidest design ever) after the Operating system and updates it only had about 118GB left. User files on top of that meant it couldn’t update because it didn’t have enough room for them.

I may give you I went to the maximum trouble starting point for 200GB, but you went wayyy too low at 200mb - that is a machine pleading for mercy at that point. Not to mention desktop files take up RAM and so some people’s issues with the game could come from that.

    Always good for a laugh.

The onus is not on customers to stalk and comb through the forums for every little crumb of news.

The onus is entirely on ZO, who run this game as a business for profit.

At the very least there should have been an in-launcher notification or pop-up warning that this update was going to be different and exactly how.

Did ZO even bother to do that much?

    I don't recall seeing such a notification.

Aggressively trying to blame customers for a business' shortcomings is wrong and stupid. It certainly won't endear the company to the customer.

While they may have been exaggerating having 200 gigabytes of free space on your main drive the OS uses is actually a very smart thing to do. Having things like games, movies, and other things stored on an external drive allows them to be out of the way, and if the drive does die you don't lose everything.

My launcher has a News section. A News section which includes several articles describing Update 25 and the Patching Overhaul all within the last month, and some farther back than that.

So yes, you got notification(s) in the Launcher itself directing you to ZOS' website where they properly described what you can expect for this patch.

But I suppose the onus is not on you to look at a game company's news, even when its right there on your game launcher, no combing through the forums necessary.

There in fact has been a message about it in the launcher for a while. They pretty much covered all communication methods.

Not what I asked and totally irrelevant.

A simple notification inside the launcher about this very different update would have been common sense good communication with customers.

    Which isn't what we got.

So I have no sympathy for ZO copping grief about this one.

A News article on the launcher IS a notification. It's just not a pop-up, which is apparently what you require in order to get you to pay attention to something that's already been on your launcher available for you to read.

You didn't have to comb through the forums for this info.
It was right there on your launcher in the News section, in multiple articles.

I understand you feel frustrated that you missed it and you wish ZOS had gone the extra mile to smack you over the head with an obvious pop-up, but please, the info was readily available every time you launched the game. You just ignored it.
