am i unlucky? yes. yes I am. but that's rng for you and HEREIN LIES A PROBLEM. there is far too much rng involved in this event WITHOUT POSSIBILITY OF PROPER TRADE BETWEEN PLAYERS TO COUNTER IT.

Trade with players isn't the only answer, and it's actually an inferior solution because you then have to balance the event against botters and grinders who let players do nothing and still get all the rewards through gold.

In SWTOR there are lots of events with a ton of stuff you have to buy with tokens you get from doing event activities. All those tokens are bound. There's no way to buy everything in one go. But the event will roll around eventually so there's really no fear of missing out -- that's the key: NO FOMO. You just have to show up. Or if you don't want to, there's next time.

Even with the once per year gambling event where tokens and some drops are super hard, people don't complain that much about the (optional) enormous credit sink or awful chance at some drops (0.07%?) because ultimately it's a relaxed event you can go at your own pace.
You can't even shortcut cash shop your way to the event prizes there.

If we are sure the Murkmire event will come around again with the same prizes up for grabs I wouldn't worry about the current setup at all. Double quest rewards and chance of getting a fragment each day would still be sort of okay. Guaranteeing a fragment drop per gold box would be nice though, or an increasing chance of getting one until you get a fragment drop at least.

I don't disagree for the most part (I rather prefer to get all current rewards as they are current, in case new rewards are added - makes it less stressful to work on new rewards, usually). mainly I'm pointing out that they actualy made it even WORSE with this event.

Honestly after this event, I'm most likely for sure never doing a new event considering how bad of a taste this one's left in my mouth considering all the angles they've screwed up with this.

Has it been established that the fragments are not tradeble?

Yes, they automagically go into your Collection.

But has anyone actually gotten a duplicate that shows it is not tradeable? That is, you already collected Fragment X and you get another Fragment X from a Murkmire Strongbox. Has that happened to anyone yet?
With people getting multiple drops I'm hoping someone can screenshot something.
Or are they smart enough to not drop duplicates of what's in your Collections?

had 12 tickets from the last so got the berry got all but 1 of the pet fragments so far from the boxes and tickets without having to buy crown tickets and there's like a week left in the event so I bet I can get the pet. And maybe the stake so what is this thread even about cause clearly its doable.

Some people aren't getting fragments at all:
An other update im NOW 5 and 0 gg loving this event more each time i open an box and get NOTHINGNESS

And trying to make up for the randomness and not-getting-fragments through grinding for extra boxes is not working: https://forums.elderscrollsonline.com/en/discussion/513109/murkmire-event-strongbox-grinding-whats-the-drop-rate-like/

Selling tickets is the main aim of events imo - disappointing but monetisation is a big part of the game now.

I don't want to disappoint anyone, but I'm not buying any.

The fragments should've costed 1 ticket from the vendor. The 5 ticket cost is fine for motifs and what not; not for this.

Get get almost 40 tickets, that is more than enough to get the random day pieces and buy other ***. You can't get the same one twice so you could just use tickets and buy a random piece and be guaranteed to get a different one the next day. Really easy and simple. Everyone is blowing this *** up because they like to just bandwagon whine about things.

So far, I have only got one fragment.

Admittedly, I only go in there, every day, do my three dailies and then leave, but even so.

3 days, so far, and one stake fragment.

On that basis, I'm not even getting one of the items, without buying it with tickets, let alone two.

What were you planning on doing with your 39 tickets?

Getting myself a berry, so that's 29 left, and hopefully getting the two feathers I'm missing. That's 9 left. I started event with 11, so that makes it 20 "extra" for parts, assuming I'm not missing any days.

That means on 13 days of event, assuming 1 box per day, and one day with two to make math easy, and assuming drop rates for parts are equal for all parts and for both memento and pet, that means that all my boxes need to average one part per day so I can be guaranteed my pet at the end of event. So far I haven't missed a day, got two boxes already on one day, and I have two parts of the pet and one of memento. I'm already way behind 1/day average.

Going back to my 20 "extra" tickets, that means I may not have enough to even fill the pet parts, let alone both... Not to mention ideally, I prefer to have 10+ left over from one event to the next to guarantee I'll get the berry in the case I can't really do the event.

This is predatory. It'll force lots of completionists to spend real money.

And someone in another thread listed the wrongs reasons to conspire against ZOS, saying they shorted us with the updated. The shorted us by making math and realizing that we are in the very edge of what's acceptable, and just kicked us down. My math I just listed is the REAL way they shorted us.

And these boxes are not RNG, go kill a world boss and you'll be fine. I'm 100% getting box and tickets on first try literally every day if the event so far. The BS is has a different source.

I'm pretty sure you get a slimmer strongbox. Emptier. Not that hard to do. Roll rice on pick up and cross check with collections. If found, box is empty, if not found, box has item.

This whole thing is tasting funny even considering that drops are easy enough to get as long as you're not grouped up.

Yes, this. Or at most 2 tickets per fragment.

If they could code it, they could even have the fragments of the items go up in price the more fragments you have of that item, maybe up to 5 rickets. I've done the event everyday (doing it with my bff, so 6 quests a day) and gotten 6 strongboxes, 3 momento pieces out of all that. So each momento piece would be 3 event tickets, to buy the ones I don't have, and the pet fragments remain 1 ticket per piece.

It's a happy medium, where players could get all the items available for the event so long as they played, plus if they need 1 or 2 fragments via the merchant they could get it. And if they need more tickets for the remaining pieces with time running out, they could buy event tickets. I don't mind buying a few event tickets, I usually save my monthly crowns from ESO+.

The point is, so as long as you participate and put some effort, you can get all the items without feeling forced to spend money.

I've been spending my tickets on berries, feathers, and other things during the events, I had zero event tickets left over from the last event. And my RNG is terrible. You're lucky, which is cool, I'm happy for you. But a lot of other people aren't lucky and didn't have tickets saved up to give them a running start. With the RNG being applied double, with you might get a fragment, and you might get a second strong box, if you have poor RNG, you're screwed.

Other people have mentioned a lot that they grinded for hours and got zero second strong boxes. And haven't gotten a fragment or maybe have gotten 1 or 2. How are they going to get the items, even if they continue to grind and yet continue to have poor RNG? I bet you that some people will have put in the time and effort and walk away with maybe 5 fragments in total for the whole event. And maybe not even 5 fragments on one item. With fragments at 5 tickets a pop, they're really kind of screwed UNLESS they buy event tickets, and being forced to buy something feels icky (and yes they don't have to buy it, but then the items remain incomplete and I know that bothers me and others). And I'm talking about those who want both items.

I'm glad some people have zero interests in the items, that way this doesn't affect them. But for others, who like silly stuff, because to them, it makes the game fun, to be able to work for something like the momento and pet and have our efforts rewarded, is something we look forward to. It really leaves a sour taste in our mouths with how this event was handled and set up. Because for some, our effort won't be paid off, and instead, we are left with frustration and sadness, and feelings of betrayal. The feeling of betrayal is worse if you still really enjoy the game, or care for it still and want to continue to play.
