Hi
In a couple of weeks black desert online starts with cross play for console....

Maybe it will be a good idea to the game if they do the same for eso? Or in a nearby future...

Even if Sony's and Microsoft's cert process didn't either mean that PC will also receive everything slowly and bug fixes take longer, I would not want to play with or against console players complaining about addons etc.

It won't be a good idea until consoles get the same updates at the same time and can use the same add-ons as us PC players.

    Until then - no, thanks.

Cross play means everyone is playing on the same server. It means merging servers that are already buckling under the load. It means patches need to wait for the last platform to give them the green light. Not going to happen except maybe when ESO is in its last throes, as a way to fake high population numbers.

Not against ps4 and xbox crossplay but if pc want to be part of the fun the will need to say byebye to their precious addon and learn to play by themself
Also it will stop them of getting update early
Only after that pc can enter the party

When I read the hell it sounds like PS4 players have to suffer, and I suspect to some extent all console players have to suffer, I don't think console cross play with PC would be fair. I don't PvP but I can imagine the issues that would cause with PvP alone.

Maybe there is a place to cross play only consoles, I'm not sure about that even.

PvP is already toxic, can you imagine how unfair and toxic it would be to have PC players cross play with console players?

Can you imagine what it would do to the different respective economies?

Can you imagine how many PC players would leave, because ESO removed the ability to use add-ons so that it would be more fair to console players?

I seriously doubt we will ever see cross platform play in ESO. There are certain advantages and disadvantages to using either PC or consoles. Balancing the differences would be almost impossible.

Not a good idea for ESO. Reason is simple: Consoles have a severe disadvantage to PC's with no Addon's and running a little under powered box to push the game.

PC's running ESO are usually much stronger than the Console boxes so Console players will be screaming even more on the Forums at the imbalance in game play.

I'd like cross-play, just because my husband and I don't have the space to set up a second PC, the budget to buy one or any real need to have one but we do have a PS4 so with cross-play we could play ESO together. But I think there's a lot of issues and complications which make it unlikely to happen.

If this other game is releasing with cross-play then presumably it was planned from the start and everything has been designed from the begining to accomodate cross-play. I doubt it would be any where near as easy to impliment in an existing game. (Kind of like when ESO was released and lots of other MMOs players started asking for mega-servers.)

Updates at the same time are relatively simple to do - hold back the PC release until the console version has gone through the certification process, instead of releasing it as soon as it's ready and the console version is sent off for certification.

Addons could be an issue though.

Cross play would be great, as a PC player I'd even be willing to have all add-ons disabled in PvP zones to make this happen.

From reading the news, BDO's cross-platform is only for XBox and Playstation. Which makes sense because they are published by Pearl Abyss, whereas the PC version in EU/NA is published by Kakao Games.

Merging consoles with PC in their case would probably lead to all the console players leaving after being rolled over by the PC players.

Turn based BG would at least be more fun than current BG!
Playing your character the way your character should play is all that matters. Play as well as you can but never betray the character. Doing so would make playing an mmoRPG pointless.

Agreed. ZOS has to introduce the whole add-on thing for consoles, and that is a can of worms that has no bottom. Great, if you love worms.

Addons advantage is the biggest myth of all.
On console you instinctively learn when to cleanse, etc.
By the time your add on tells you to do something it is already almost too late.
The main advantage of addons is information and convenience.
That is unless you are saying they give you some sort of exploit advantage. lol

Well, given when i am on my PS4 for eso, i am at 28-35fps and 138-215 latency. On PC 58-60fps and 90 to 100 latency (125 being higest spike for me atm). So, consoles, if they allowed cross server just by that alone between the two equally skilled players, console would be at the disadvantage.

Addons (which sony and xbox will refuse to allow-zos could break addons and add many of the key ones commonly used to the ui though), imput lag, server lag, limited chat; consoles though getting more PC like still are not PCs and can only do so much, especially if more is happening at once.

Plus no one is indicating they are afraid of losing to console players, just acknowledging the limitations and struggles they would have to endure if ever paired with PC.

The only reason not to is we would all have to play on the same server and they can't handle the current loads as it is.
If you are getting different latency on different devices then something needs tweaked in your LAN balance.
FPS doesn't affect my skills unless it gets ridiculous, but if working normal not at all.

Maybe PSN and Xbox but not with PC, I really dont want to see everyone whinging about how PC has too many advantages. "Nerf PC", "remove addons". It'll be like Miat's all over again.

Cross play between the console platforms would be fine, and maybe even good. Both Zeni and the player base would crumble if console and pc realms were merged however. Either console players would throw fits about pc player’s unfair advantage amd leave the game in droves, or PC players experience and QoL would be stripped down to cater to consoles, and we would walk away from Zenimax and never look back.

Either way would cripple zeni’s ability to support such an environment, and would give them such a black eye in the industry that is would kill their viability as a AAA game studio.

ZoS won't merge servers till the player base decreases. No need to merge servers if there is a strong enough player base.

No thanks. I switched to PC to get away from the Xbox community.

Sorry, but I had too many guys who were supposed friends demanding more than top-tier 0.1% DPS the moment I hit CP160 and only had crafted gear available. I wish I were joking...

No such demands were made by my real friends on PC. Instead, they helped me learn. And when DPS failed on my part, instead of telling me to quit, they suggested I try healing or tanking.

I'm now quite a good tank.
