Blessed Crucible - trolling?

So I'm a pet Sorc CP 460 and I had a weird experience earlier today when I PUGed for Vet Blessed Crucible.

The other 3 players were all CP 810 and were good. Except, right from the beginning, they INSISTED I take eat some Ghastly Eye bowl to get through the dungeon. It wasn't just one, it was all 3 of them, taking turns and trying to trade with me, offering to give me some GEB. I've done the run before but it was my first time on vet and I thought it went OK. Throughout the run, they took turns trying to trade with me and using text chat to make me take it (which I didn't want to, cause I was using my own food buff).

Then right before the last boss fight, one of them said the tank wouldn't pull the boss unless I took it, so I jumped down and started engaging the boss (as a DPS) and they all followed. Funny thing is, even after the final fight was over, they STILL insisted I take some LMAO! I said GG and left the group, having gotten the helmet I wanted.

So was this a troll attempt or is there some logic behind consuming GEB for group benefit in vBC? They were definitely a regular team, since they all took turns trying to make me take it. Never happened before in the dozens of PuGs I've done dungeon runs in.

That's... Odd. Maybe they didn't think you were using food? The food's pretty much Max Magicka/Magicka Regen, but that's literally the only thing I can think of.

It was odd lmao! One of them said something about wanting a skin (forgot what it was called) and said I should take it because of that. Then one of them died during the final boss fight and when I rezed that player, another one said in the text chat they wouldn't have died if I'd taken it lol.

I get the feeling they were betting on whether they could make me take it for a laugh or something. Anyway, I know what food I need based on my build and I don't use GEB - I use a blue food that increases my max magicka and health that works fine for me.

Well... they must have been confident that you wouldn't need any health bonus. Interesting. It doesn't seem malicious... just weird. Unless they were then gonna be rude to you for a lack of health, but they could've just kicked you if they wanted to. I'm really interested in this and would love to read those logs. Maybe I should go queue for vet Crucible and try to hunt them down. xD

Perhaps you were unwilling participant in some really weird ritual. We will never know.

Well, being the good and nice capped players they were, clearly they simply wanted to help OP with gaining their insight of the game. And what better way, and safer, than offering some Ghastly Eye bowl; afterall, to gain insight you'll need eyes on the inside. ;)

@Raisin it seemed odd tho to assume a reasonably experienced player like me (CP460) would need to be coached on food without them knowing anything about my build (I'm on Xbox NA, so we can't see other people's health etc).

They weren't rude, just very insistent. They must've tried trading with me over 20 times lol, sometimes when I was fighting adds. I thought they were going to kick me when I refused, but they just played along. I'm guessing they were just trolling me big time and am glad I didn't fall for it :D

Go into options and then into each section there a whole list of onscreen displays including health bars by percentage or numbers, so yes they could see your health, turning on colours for aoe damage if a good one too (bright pink best colour for enemy aoe)

They might have seen that you are above 22k health and that you really don’t need that much health in that dungeon and if the tank and healer are capable

Wait, you can't see other player's health on XBOX?! That's just part of base UI. How weird.

Honestly I'd say this is one of the most interesting dungeon interactions you're gonna have, and worth treasuring. I do really hope there were no ill intentions and that they were just having a jolly old time. Do recommend next time you take some of the GEB I mean.... it's free food.

Yes, its a bit weird, standard is either max magic and max health or health, magic and magic regen.

Exception is if you have lots of health, an tank build with lots of health is better off with magic + magic regen then not tanking.
Using stamina + stamina regen on my tanks.

How much health do you have with food? If you have much over 20K I understand them. 17-19K health is standard for DD or healers
Grinding just make you go in circles.
Asking ZoS for nerfs is as stupid as asking for close air support from the death star.

You can, though... I long since uninstalled the game because ZOS can’t fix the constant crashing on PS4, so I can’t check, but it’s there somewhere in the console UI settings.

I made this post because I thought there was a small but genuine chance you needed to take GEB for that particular dungeon for some reason. Obviously not.

Yep options is a really good section to play around in and change a few settings to make your game play easier like the aoe colour (if you see pink you need to move or block) if you set friendly aoe to green you know to stay

But yeah the health bars of your group onscreen helps to know who needs healing who needs rez

GEB food is actually good food if you balance your health with points or enchants and the food can help with sustain

    Edit
Not that heavy attack pet builds need much magicka sustain but helps with spamming crushing shock if you use it

    Edit number 2
Some of the options are character based options, so they don’t go across alts you have but the aoe one is account wide so set once and all your alternate characters will have that set

I held my own and died once when we went into the open area before the troll boss and they simultaneously pulled all of the adds at once (one of them died as well). But after that it was smooth sailing and my sustain wasn't a problem either.

The skin was Platinum skin I think (or could be diamond, one of those 2). Like I said above, they even said I had to eat it so one of them could get that skin? That is why I started this thread, cause I thought there was some bonus I missed out on by not eating GEB.

I think it was for a laugh more than anything. If I had kept dying over and over, then I could understand their insisting. But it was a pretty smooth run. And they wanted me to take it even after the final boss fight was over, so I'm guessing it was some kind of bet / inside joke lol.

One of them used the crying emote and started sobbing as I awkwardly waited to be ported out when the game ended and I had refused to take it about 30 times by then, no sh*t lol :D:D

I just love the mystery of all this. xD No clue what they meant with the skin. Normally I'd assume something wa slost in translation, but I'm not sure how common that is on NA. I guess maybe they really did think you were more of a noob than you really are, and were trying to confuse you. If it was an in-joke, I do really wish I understood it. :D

Nah, nothing lost in translation, trust me. The text chat would look like this

Player 1: Take it take it take it
    Player 2: Take it NOW
    Player 3: pleeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeease

and various combos of the above. I'm grinning while i type this, but during the run I was confused af lol

They clearly play together and I think they could've chose to kick me, but they weren't rude or anything, just annoying and repetitive. I've played with players in PuGs before who play with each other regularly, but this was the first time I was persuaded to eat a specific food by complete strangers.

Yep, I'd get one shot or overwhelmed by bosses & adds easy so I try to keep a minimum of 20-21k health. No way I wasn't going to buff my health in a vet dungeon esp. with a random PuG where it's usually each player for themselves and the medic & tank don't do what they are supposed to do.

You were being trolled. You were using the appropriate max health, max magicka food. Would make no sense to use GEB food. For one thing your magicka would go down a bit, and of course you would have no health bonus, which would make no sense.
