I am hoping to get the community's thoughts on it, what do you think will ZOS do next once the map of Tamriel is filled Completely with playable zones provided the game makes it that long (which has a good chance).
Whats after tamriel? Akavir, more story content in existing zones, the home of the maomer, planes of oblivion?

Assuming they haven't moved on to more profitable endeavors by that point, it'd be interesting if they started introducing storylines that take place after everything has already happened in a zone, ie Stonefalls after all the events of the main story.

Hopefully that'd give enough incentive to finally go back and make the zones look less like they were still stuck in 2014.

Honestly the faster ESO gets comfortable with rewriting the lore and declare their own timeline, the sooner we can start enjoying some truely free and creative storywriting.

If they ever do that the game file size would no doubt get too big. If they were going to keep the game going it'd be an ESO 2 with a brand new, polished engine.

Not really needed, EOS timeline was kind of lost in the chaos.
Tamriel in the post Skyrim timeline would not know about ESO factions fighting huge wars in Akavir, not to talk about an adventurers journey. Hint it was battles in WW1 between Germany and Great Britain in Africa.
Please add details, it was only 100 years ago.

They already are... As has been stated multiple times between Tiber Septim striking all the history from records of what occurred prior to his ascending the throne and the Dragon Break that occurs later on it's really hard for them to make anything that can't be explained away by one or the other.

It will go fractal, with each new zone occupying about 48% of the remaining space.

Each zone will be both smaller, but promise a greater wealth of story and zone space. Eventually each zone will be several stacks high and will last for a mere 10 seconds. If you fail to purchase the next zone stack, all the previous ones will disappear and you’ll find yourself waking up in a darkened room with a stranger looking down on you saying “aah you’re awake”.

We are not near filling the map of Tamriel to begin with. Then there is areas of Nirn beyond Tamriel to explore. Nothing to be concerned with.

The different realms of Oblivion are ripe for content development, as is Aetherius. Yet unexplored islands and maybe a naval themed chapter.

But considering all they add to the map is a mid sized chapter map (which shrinks every year) and 1 small adventure zone, it’s a long way from covering all of Tamriel.

ESO classic. But they managed to get 3 zones that technically aren't on the map already. So i image they will weave in places that are not on the map plus the rest of the map will likely take another 5-10 years at the current rate.

Id actually hope to see an ESO 2 in the not so distant future set in a different conflict. I can only take so much of 2E 582. Maybe something like:

*2E 850-855 leading up to and during the beginning of the Tiber Wars.
    * 3E first century after Tiber Septim dies. Lot of short lived Emperors for a while.
    * Merethic Era sometime when the Dwemer are still around.
    * Some time near the end of the 4th century.

It would be nice to get out of 582, it feels like groundhog day.

There'll be a new Cadwell's, where you get to replay every quest in every zone again only from Molag Bal's point of view. When you complete it there's a bust for your house and a new motif.

Face lifted vanilla zones, and new shards of them with new questlines taking place in post-Planemeld-post-Dragons timeline.
You know, just like the already existing feature with zones looking different to players depending on their progress in quest lines and their choices.

Molag bal succeeds in pulling Tamriel into Oblivion, the entire map now changes to an oblivion plane, but with all the familiarity of it being Tamriel.

The original map will still be there for everyone, but it is a brand new quest line (like Cadwells silver/gold), to try and save Tamriel.

    1. for those curious: ESO-World-Map-Tamriel.jpg?u=20190131

    2. Yes it will probably take them years. They extended it by not doing a ton of the Skyrim region this year, as they said some will be in Blackreach. So that means we are coming back to Skyrim, probably, two more times.

    3. We do have other areas of Nirn to explore like Atmora and Akavir as well as the Sea Elves homeland. We also have Daedric Realms as well, along with other planes of existence.

Never going to happen. And I certainly don't see them going to Hammerfell before TES6 goes there. Don't stand on those toes, and make sure TES fans stay thirsty for the province.

Here's why they aren't short of options. 2021 seems like a safe bet, everything beyond can be rearranged, they're just areas suited for Chapters:

    2020: Western Skyrim
2021: Leyawiin, Bravil, and the Nibenay basin (15 year anniversary of Oblivion)
2022: Blackmarsh, half of the remaining province
2023: Morrowind's Telvanni Isles (east section of landmass, Necrom would be amazing to see)
2024: Skingrad, great forests of Cyrodiil, Imperial reserve
2025: Hammerfell Chapter, half of remaining province (TES6 will be out by this point)
2026: Whiterun and Winterhold (15 year anniversary of Skyrim)
2027: Blackmarsh, other half of the province
2028: Western part of Morrowind (city of Blackreach) and Solstheim
2029: Hammerfell, remaining half of province

That's ten years of Chapters if you include this year's. And unless they're planning a big overhaul of ESO's visual quality (draw distance, LOD, base game zone updates) in the next year or two then I don't see it surviving for even half of that. It's got to compete with next gen MMOs soon, including a new MMO from ZOS themselves. I honestly think the plan is to keep this game going until TES6 releases, then put it on life support. At that point we can start hoping for ESO2 though

    So......*Inhales deeply*
    • There is many years ahead for the currently map. If the rate of content carry's on the plan we have now Q1-dung-Q2-Chapter-Q3-dung-Q4-Small zone
    • Other realms of existence, Oblivion, Aetherius, Places of Mundus outside Nirn. We have the rest of the Daedric Princes realms, plus more of Oblivion ones that we know of and ones ZoS can add....there is a unlimited number they can do. Aetherius, never really been there whole new world/worlds to explore. Places in Mundus, Jone and Jode....the other planets/gods. Other stuff ZoS can add..
    • Below content, with Blackreach being added, there might be other giant cave systems we could explore.
    • Other continents of Nirn, Akavir, Atmora, Yokuda, + more that have not been discovered/only the vestige gets sent there. The map of Nirn has never been officially created, meaning ZoS and Bethesda can add/do what they like. As for lore did Yokuda really sink? Did it get rebuilt by the left haned elves? (lore is open to anything really) They hinted about northern invaders in the coming DLC pact so maybe Atmora in this time is not so empty.. Also smaller places like Pyandonea, Thras etc. This image does show an artist impression showing other places on Nirn: https://elderscrolls.fandom.com/wiki/Nirn?file=Summerset_Orrery_(Former).png
    • Hey you can even go wild and maybe Nirn is just a number of Planets like itself in Mundus.
    • Point is there is plenty and plenty of content to be added....
