Lyris Titanborn - thoughts in her semi-"giant" status

"Lyris Titanborn is a Nord warrior with giant blood in her veins"

Wouldn't it be nice if we could have a little of an improved size/ height for Nords over other races?

Like Argonians are really good swimmers.

Maybe in the character creator Nords could have some giant blood flowing through them :p

Just a head-height more so they can "tower" just a little would make my world. Thanks for replying!

Yup. Nords and Orcs have a higher end-point on the height slider.
I mean, they are taller at max height than other races.

They are, as has been said, already taller. Along with Altmer, who are actually borderline too tall imo, my altmer healer looks like she has marfan syndrome (no offense meant to anyone who has marfan syndrome, I just mean that the proportions are what they are).

Lyris's mother was an actual giant, I assume, since her father (ghost) is of normal nord size. Also I assume they made the mother the giant in order to avoid mean jokes and potential lawsuits.

There's a limit because they aren't also going to change the height of all the doors.

Yeah, the height sliders are already adapted to fit lore heights.

From memory wasn't her father the one who had Giants blood flowing threw his veins, her mother was a Nord who died during child birth, Lyris always believed her father hated her due to her mother dying in child birth.

Having done the MQ way too many times (give me those skill points), her father was the part giant one. He says something to effect of her mom died in childbirth because his giant genes.

Man I don't care, its explained in base game why she is a semi giant. You should see the size inconsistency for main characters in WOW when doing main quests and that is not even explained and talked about. At least ZOS has bothered to make a character stand out and explain to us why she is the way she is and i'm cool with it.

Oh ok. Ive done it so many times I just clicked past those parts lately. I dont remember it saying she died during childbirth *for that reason*, just that she did and then her father was killed by 'an old enemy' after Lyris ran away. I just assumed she was half actual giant and her father certainly wasnt one . Sorry if I gave misinfo, gonna read up on it again.

EDIT: Yup, seems I was mistaken. She must have died due to the sheer size of Lyris. I guess the ZOS writers, much like Gjalder, had more balls than I thought!

That's one thing I wish they'd change. But to make them smaller. Go create a max height Altmer or Nord and you'll still struggle to find doors in the game that aren't twice your height. Go find some windows on an outer house wall, and stand in front of them - you probably won't even reach the very bottom of them. Stand inside and look at how crazily high the ceilings are. It's like the architecture scale in this game was designed specifically for Lyris

Presumably it's a holdover from when this game's original lead devs were building it as a cartoon third-person only WoW clone, expecting everyone to play with massively zoomed out cameras. Huge changes have been made to the game where possible since its reveal, like a first person mode, more realistic art direction, and later One Tamriel removing level scaling. But some parts of that original game we'll always be stuck with, like the ludicrous architecture scale.

AND THIS IS A SMALL HOUSE!?

I'd only play a Nord, if i could actually make them SMALLER, I am a rl one, but despite the size of fight in me, only 160cm, I like to identify with my chars, and looking at the top of people heads just feel UTTERLY alien to me lmao!

You just made me think of the time in Lore where a Dunmer girl had an interspecies moment with a Khajiit in the middle of a Tavern.

How does a Nord even "fool around" with a Giant? And no, I don't want to go to Pornhub. I've heard about what they've been doing with Skyrim pretty much ever since it came out and I'm pretty sure it's not lore friendly at all.

Orcs are actually a bit shorter than Nords. Altmer and Nords share the same height scale, with orcs coming on a second place after them. My orc can feel a bit smallish next to some nords.

    Other nords do.
There are at least two other "giantborn" nords in the game, the one nomming on giants in eastmarch, and one at a undaunted gathering somewhere IIRC.
Both of then, and Lyris are taller then the tallest nord you can make in CharGen...

    ...

Of course, they -really- ought to be selling something like "structural unlocks" in the crown store for this and many other character build ideas, so we too can play as such or other "non-standard body feature" archetypes!
Let us pay to play taller then possible "titanbborn" nords!
Let us pay to play stouter then possible imperial matrons that make the best pasta!
Let us pay to play shorter then possible breton dwarves who drink wine and know things!
Let us pay to play more muscular then possibe orcs people wouldn't like if they got angry!
Let us pay to play fatter then possible redguard haren guards who gave up -much- for their job!
Let us pay to play tinier then possible petite dunmer assassins that can squeeze through any arrowslit!
Let us pay to play skinnier then possible necromancers that look like they -really- need a sammich right now!
Yeah, I for one would enjoy all those character diversifications!
(And buy appearance change tokens to refit them to characters of mine!)

They could even do something special with all those... like, make them an extra racial trait that has both positive and negative effects. Titanborn? Sure, you get a bit to weapon damage, but you also get less critical resistance since your vital areas are just so much larger... Dwarf? Sure, you maybe get the opposite - more critical resistance because your vitals are harder to hit, but also a penalty to weapon damage for your stubby arms... extra-fat character? Sure, you get an HP bonus for all that blubbler, but you also get a penalty for sprinting stamina drain because... of the same. Extra-skinny character? The opposite. Extra-muscular character gets a bonus to armor penetration due to heavy blows, but a penalty to critical hits because of all that muscle costing in agility, extra petite character the opposite. Et cetera...

If somewhere down the line a Nord and a Giant got frisky enough to eventually result in Lyris in game, then yeah, its apparently Lore friendly. Im just going to assume the original Mother was the Giant. The parts fit a lot better that way.

At least according the the MQ where you help her backstory, her father was part-giant and her mother was normal Nord. They even use that as a point between them that Lyris killed her mother in childbirth (ostensibly since she was too big) and she thought her father hated her for that.

She's a bit shorter than her father, but definitely taller than the tallest Nord. But it's loads of fun to play the shortest Bosmer and stand next to her.

I really like the height slider; hope that's part of Character Creation in TES6. I love playing short characters, but I've been on an Orc kick, so it's great to play a short Orc. Yeah, he's just around average height to most people, but since he's in the pact, he's looking up at most of the Nords around him.

Put a bucket over the giant's head and swing by the handle.

And if I have to hear him talk about giving Lyris's mother his "seed" one more time, I may gouge my eyes out and join the Moth Priests.

Nords are not part giants. Lyris' case is very unusual, and she is much taller than any other nord.
