Sorc Mages Wrath % damage execute

I think it’s time for Sorcs to get a percent damage execute modifier instead of a flat damage increase. This will bring the ability more in line with NB and Templar execute. Maybe 150-200% modifier. Due to its delayed burst. Still weaker than Templar 400% to keep the delayed burst as that is the Sorcs root ability is delayed burst. Lemme know what you think guys. This is not a buff sorc thread, but an improvement and spreading ideas and suggestions thread

I main a magsorc, and while I will say the execute needs 'something' for PVE, I think scaling damage would be too much and detrimental to PVP. We can already pre-load a target with it for 4 seconds so it's basically 'fire and forget' and focus on bursting to 20%.

Balance pve and PvP separately. Problem solved.

Well, obviously... And how long has the community begged for that now? How's that worked out for us? So, operating in the current realm of reality, which is 'that's probably not going to happen', what're the other options?

    50k magicka 3k sd
    Fury tooltips at 15k.

    33k stamina 6.4k tooltip
Executioner 400% tooltips at 6kish -> 4x6500 25600 effective tooltip on a 1% hp target. Scale that back to 20%

Im guessing its VERY similar but diff mechanics.

How can you compare a channeled execute to an instant cast ability with a secondary burst allowing for queued up damage?

Its not a channeled execute mate. U cast it dd hits, 4s later main DD hits while ur spamming ele wep + power overload doing 15-18k dmg a GCD.

The mechanic is diff but in many cases more lethal since it is fnf.

Sure my stam sorc can execute for 15k in no cp but that on a player with 5% hp.

Fury hits u for 15k maybe 8000 actual dmg once ur below 20%. While ur spamming ele / frags / crushing.

    400% at 1% hp. Starts at 50%.

    400/50= 8% extra dmg per 1% hp below 50%.

    50-20 = 30
    30x8 240 -> 240% increased damage.

Now take my.stam sork stats and apply 240% on that, 6500 (tool tip) x 240 = 15600 tooltip.

So as i said its quite close. Now keep in mind fury is NOT CHANNELED and it is fnf. It is also not a spammable so that has to be considered as well.

So it is balanced. Devs will not change this the maths shows its balanced.

With the exception of bg scoring, is sorc execute a pressing issue? Dying to an execute happens when fighting a class with an execute.

Nerf sorc crowd needs to step up its game.

I think they were referring to the OP comparing Mages Wrath (instant cast) versus Templar execute (channeled).

It already is, the ONLY balance option is through pvp as players will always do the unexpected and find gaps and holes in coding, pve adds follow script so easy to balance around.

The problem is of course going to be PVP. Mages wrath has always been an unpopular skill to every class not named sorc. End of the day, I dont think its out of line or really OP in any context other than KBs in battlegrounds. If you want to kill a sorc, stay above 20% health.

In a PVE context, mages wrath has always been the worst of the executes. It's been a little while since I was a meta sorc pushing trials, but mages wrath usually didnt make the bars unless you were humping a dummy.

I think they should rework the morphs. Let one function as a delayed execute like always, and the other should function as an instant execute that scales. This is the bandaid to balancing PVP and PVE separately. It wont work for every skill, but I like the idea of an obvious PVP and obvious PVE morph for most things.

It's been a while since I looked at these types of numbers, but what you really need to see are high end parses from all classes with executes, and the executes should frankly all contribute similar amounts of DPS to the parse. Historically sorc has been on the very low end of that spectrum, but not sure how it shakes out today.
