It's inspired by Morrowind's glass style:
ESO's standard glass style was designed on the Skyrim glass aesthetic.

I like what we have now the base game races ones and “rare” ones....now those need an update!

Unfortunately after boobwindowgate, I doubt that’ll happen. Too bad though, I wish they could at least look like they were stitched together with skill, instead of huge, visible stitches. Tim Gunn would not approve

Boobwindowgate? Tell me more!

Orcish heavy armor used to have a boob window. You can see it if you look at some of the early promotional screenshots. (I guess someone on the marketing team liked that armor, for some reason.)
After launch, ZOS redesigned the Redguard and Orcish styles to be more... representative of ZOS's vision of those two races, I guess? I mean, I think the new Orcish armor is fine, but some folks lament the missing boob window. However, the Redguard light armor was absolutely gorgeous, and I still pray that they bring it back (perhaps with nicer texture). I can't bring myself to wear the "new" Redguard style.

Ok I found the boob window. It does look kinda silly on heavy metal armor so I understand why they removed it.
The window makes much more sense on Grim Harlequin, since it's more leather and cloth based and is designed by and for mad people
I can't find the old Redguard armors. Do you happen to have some screenshots?
Sorry for the offtopic but this is important stuff.

This is what the orc armor used to look like:
And this is what I found for the Redguard, although modeled by a dunmer

Thanks, there is craft by questing or need to buy by crown store?
The drop rate increases the more quests you have completed in Vvardenfell. Although I'm unsure right now if that's just the mainquest or any quest.DarknDarker wrote: »OhNoDaedra wrote: »Darkstorne wrote: »You want the Buoyant Armiger style from the Morrowind Chapter, on Vvardenfell

Buoyant Armiger motif chapters can be found in chests on Vardenfell. good luck finding them, seems its at beas around a 1-2% drop rate.

By now it should probably be relatively cheap in guild traders too.
Here is one showcasing -why- it was changed:I can't find the old Redguard armors. Do you happen to have some screenshots?
I liked the redesign for "oh, this is supposed to protect" looks...I miss the old models. Some of them looked really good and if you look in the old TES games, there are plenty of such costumes.

...to look like -actual- "armor" and not just skimpy clothing.
For the advanced versions too...I liked the redesign for "oh, this is supposed to protect" looks...I miss the old models. Some of them looked really good and if you look in the old TES games, there are plenty of such costumes.
...
...but I always felt a little sad they didn't think to reuse the old "skimpy" visuals for their stealable "civilian clothing"!!!
And for soctumes... eh, we have -way- skimpier costumes with dancer silks or bathers towels, so even I who usually would argue armor should cover stuff would agree that the old visuals would have a place there...
