Just a heads up for PC players using a gamepad. Update 5.3 coming with the Harrowstorm DLC will disable scaling for the gamepad UI on PC. This was confirmed by Gina on the PTS forum:This means the gamepad UI will appear INCREDIBLY LARGE, making it quite obtrusive and difficult to use in a PC environment where you are sitting much closer to the screen.ZOS_GinaBruno wrote: »Hey all, just wanted to confirm this is not a bug, but something we deliberately changed due to it causing a myriad of other UI-related issues. This will probably get lost among other topics of the new update, but I thought players should know to avoid an unpleasant surprise on release day.
If you don't usually scale down your UI on live, you won't notice any difference.thissocalledflower wrote: »thats odd i didnt notice it when i was on pts....
Same. I don't like using "asymmetric" controls like kb+m because of my scoliosis, there's no way I'm ditching a controller. But if there is no fix for this scaling issue, I don't know what I'll do ...Lady_Linux wrote: »Well if it is clunky and awful on my 4k tv then that may spell the end of my days with eso. my arthritis wont allow me to play with keyboard and mouse and after two years + of eso with a controller, i have no desire to relearn how to play

Well upscaling won't work either, obviously. I just didn't conceive a circumstance where that would be necessary.
Yeah that makes sense, I just don't have a TV that large lol.Nemesis7884 wrote: »Nemesis7884 wrote: »thissocalledflower wrote: »thats odd i didnt notice it when i was on pts....

without upscaling on pc 4k tv you cant see anything and not play the game...so basically that was eso for me

Just to be clear, the normal PC UI can still be scaled just fine, it's only the gamepad / controller UI that can't be scaled anymore.
That's correct. I just wanted to avoid confusion, apparently causing more confusion in the process. Scaling is gone for the controller, but remains for keyboard and mouse.Nemesis7884 wrote: »Yeah that makes sense, I just don't have a TV that large lol.Nemesis7884 wrote: »Nemesis7884 wrote: »thissocalledflower wrote: »thats odd i didnt notice it when i was on pts....

basically "we ran into issues and are too lazy to fix them so let's just ignore the players affected by this, we can afford to lose a few paying customers. now let's get back to coming up with more crown crates"ZOS_GinaBruno wrote: »Hey all, just wanted to confirm this is not a bug, but something we deliberately changed due to it causing a myriad of other UI-related issues. I wondered about that too, but don't know enough about ESO's addons (especially in the new update) to have the answer. If they just hid / decoupled the setting options from the controller UI, it might be trivial, but if they made a change deeper under the hood it could also be hopeless.Thevampirenight wrote: »Could this be something some addon creator can adjust or fix or make an improvement of? Given there are addons that improve or change the Ui. So I'm assuming something like that can be done here correct? I don't play controller but I assume that Addons can be used to adjust the Ui? We PC players do have access to Addons after all. So we could in fact fix if if we wanted too. Unless they disabled or don't allow changes to ui with controllers then that might be an issue.

now that i think of it.. Azurah - Interface Enhanced lets you individually move and scale parts of the UI. but afaik only the "HUD" and not the inventory/skills menus etc... will have to check that out once i get home.Thevampirenight wrote: »Could this be something some addon creator can adjust or fix or make an improvement of? inventory grid view and craft store are great addons but they don't change the scale of the ui which is our issue hereThevampirenight wrote: »A picture of what some addons are able to do from google for the Ui
If its the ui interface when it comes to interacting with npcs and their names that could be a issue not sure if that can be changed but if its like menus and other stuff and chat windows Ui addons will probably fix it. Given names are another form of Ui and the interface is basically Ui I think those can be altered as well. So I think it can be fixed.

makes no sense to me as controler needs scaling...and all the new consoles are 4k
thissocalledflower wrote: »And that probably has more to do with it than anything! The consoles dont want pc's using controllers because consoles cant compete with them so they have contractual obligations i bet to not allow pc scaling with controller to give console and edge in the market...

My gf uses controller when playing on pc with hdmi going to a 4k TV.
She likes the big fonts. It looks like eso on xbox.
So is there a comparison shot old vs new?
