So my pets randomly attacked a guard and I ended up with a bounty

I think it was because you were not using the trader to the right, as you look at the wayshrine.

There's one that comes with the Lazy Craft addon, when I pick up a writ and go to a craft table my pets will be unsommoned automatically but I didn't have it enabled this time round

I cant see how people can play with prevent attack innocents off by default. It makes accidental bounties way too easy, especially if you have an AoE like blockade set to the same button used to back out of menus.

I turn it off/on, as a Sorc I usually Streak and Boundless Storm to go faster and I just know some NPC will be in my way way I streak past them and BAM, 1000 bounty for attacking them

Just this. I got in the habit of putting my pets away as soon as I arrived at a wayshrine before entering towns. If you just make a mental note to do it every time, it will become automatic, and other players will be happy about your thoughtful consideration for them!
