So my pets randomly attacked a guard and I ended up with a bounty

I dunno exactly what happened but I was in Rawl browsing the trader ( left of the Wayshrine if you are looking at it ) suddenly I see damage numbers on my screen from my pets and when I exited I had a 208 bounty

Now I have prevent attack innocents ON and has been for a long time, I dunno if someone running buy somehow attacked the guard and the guard used an AoE to agro my pets or what but this is the first time anything liek this has happened

There's lots of stuff laying around traders. It's possible you accidentally stole something and got a bounty.

But while that happens a lot, it would not really explain why the pets were involved -before- the guard comes up with the "fine or fight/flight" question.

On the other hand, guards do not usually have an AoE (except the insta-kill riot control one)... but I suppose it IS possible that someone else aggroed a NPC, the NPC had an AoE and caught your pet... but it sounds like a rather unlikely chain of events.

Still, one more reason to not go into town with pets out I guess! ;)

If you had a bounty as someone suggested might have happened the pets can react to the guard before you engage as the guard actually started the combat. It would require a bounty stage for kill on sight.

I got the bounty after the pets attacked, I didn't have one before hand

Pets will sometimes try to aid other players who have ticked off the guards, even with that setting. Then you get a bounty.

In my experience pets never attack friendlies. Ever. With or without "prevent attacking innocents". It seems more likely that OP had aggroed the guard earlier, or was grouped with someone who aggroed, or was accosted by a guard while busy with the store and the guard became aggroed, or some similar situation.

yes, encountered it some days ago in the Rimmen bank.
Was trading, heard a guy making trouble with the guards. Suddenly my clannfear was involved, although I have activated "prevent attacking innocent". Guards attacked me then.

There is something missing from the story then. Like the guard was attacking someone else and the pet got caught in the guards AoE conal attack if they have one.

That is the only possible explanation I can think of based on the information you have provided. While I have had a pet attack a pathing NPC when I was in disguise, which is a known bug, there is no reason or a pet to attack an actual guard without being provoked or commanded.

Whenever someone says something “randomly” happened to them it seems suspicious.

Like when someone says their account was “randomly banned” by ZOS.

    No.

Because it is Common Courtesy to allow the rest of the players to go about their business without being blocked off.

Yeah, it's a Zos issue and they Need to fix it.... But Until they do, be an Adult and have some consideration for other players.

    IMHO

I wonder if this is related.

I went to a Dolmen in Deshaan last night and it started up as I got there. I dropped Blockade and Lightning Splash on the first NPCs who promptly ran straight passed me and ran up a hill and attacked some innocent player who was in their inventory at the time. (non pet class so they had no aggro with the NPCs.) I had to chase the NPCs to kill them.

    This game is so bugged.

I can confirm this does happen.

I was in Elden Root once when a player who was being chased by a guard ran past me. My pets suddenly started attacking the guard and I got a bounty.

Are you dropping any skills at the time? I remember people complaining that unintentionally healing other players that were flagged as criminals would flag you as a criminal. Barring that, I'd very much like to see some video proof, especially if it's as frequent as some are implying here.

I was browsing a guild trader at the time, otherwise, I was doing nothing.

    Yes, because we dislike them.

There is zero need for pets in cities. Any combat in cities can be done with light attacks only. These aren't dungeons.

Sometimes your pet will come to the aid of fellow players or fellow pets of those players, as stated before. I don't know why it happens but I like to headcanon it as my pets wanting to protect my potential allies and hating the government, because it's funnier that way.

please put away your pets when you enter into towns.
it is very annoying to work around pets while i am trying to bank and crafting and handing in quests and trying to use the way shrine and basicly everything i do in towns is being blocked by peoples pets.

It was a daily reminder to unsummon pets because they can disturb other players (by blocking access to containers for example).
