I have recently been focused on the amount of cheating in pvp, and how common it is. I have been researching videos of the most common softwares used to obtain different super abilities, to see if there are any obvious telltales.
And there certainly are!

So how do I report it, and what's being done about it?

    There is alot of ways.

    1. Rightlicking on their name in chat (outside cyro if they are in chat and choosing report from there)
    2. Can be used easier in Cyro, press Q targeting to bring forth the wheel menu, report is on there
    3. You can also report them via the site here (sorry about the link length) https://help.elderscrollsonline.com/app/incident?fresh&session=L3RpbWUvMTU3ODg0MjQ2Ni9nZW4vMTU3ODg0MjQ2Ni9zaWQvZlVINUJVOG1hNDclN0UwQjFyZFRidkFGUGtLNEplaDkxRFQlN0VJcFRlJTdFcTFlWmczZUJIZXZCc3NyWkRGcXdoWjJ4MnoyVm50MFNmUjUxQTBhemhyODJZSlhaTWZ2dmQ1TVZtWE9rSHprVnl6dk9BemR4d1lQR0Q1VnF3JTIxJTIx
    4. Should also be able to report via the ticket-sytem ingame (F1 on pc) if you can remember the full @name

There is a history of our actions on the server. Zos has taken action against players who were never reported specifically when they reviewed the use of an exploit.

So yes, report them when suspicious activity is witnessed so Zos can work to determine if it was cheating or exploiting. Though they will not respond with the results due to privacy.

Video sent to ZoS with a description. Some examples, flying, bunny hops, a health bar that does not budge under a massive assault assuming there is not corresponding massive lag. Also screenshots of impossible combinations on your death recap though most people get this wrong when they see it - not understanding what the game and desync can do.

Farm bots are easier to identify they have very scripted actions and respond in very predicable ways.

Bunny hopping isn't cheating, nor is it an exploit. At least, that's my understanding based on all the threads about it in this forum. It might be annoying as heck, but if you report a bunny-hopping player with the expectation that he or she will be banned, prepare to be disappointed.

My health bar often doesn't budge much at all under a massive assault in PvE, but that also depends on the situation (i.e., not all PvE bosses are equal). I seriously doubt I'd be able to say the same thing in PvP, though. But I'm just saying, that type of thing could be perfectly normal and legal depending on the players' builds, gear, etc.

And players who are farming can have very predictable routes and actions, too. Speaking strictly for myself, I've noticed that I tend to fall into a monotonous, unvarying route if I'm farming while dog tired-- farming in my sleep, as it were. But normally I'll run around willy-nilly depending on which nodes look the most attractive according to which types of materials I most need.

Bunny hop has two meanings these days. One is the constant jumping people do, which is not an exploit. The second is a glitched jump where you can long jump much farther the supposed to, which is an exploit.

Bunny hoping is as stated when it is a long jump, just bouncing around is not, not sure why you thought I mean that. The health bar I meant in PvP and as for farming it is very obvious the difference between a bot routine and a common player farm routine. For example a bot will attempt to farm a blank node that was just farmed before it, if a player does that ..UHM WOW?! Also a path farm bot will jog, not run to all the nodes.

I don't know whether it's an exploit in certain situations, other than what I've read in this forum whenever it's been brought up for discussion. I thought the consensus was that it's legal as long as you aren't using macros or whatever.

All I know is that I've tried to bunny hop in ESO, and I can't do it. I don't know if it's because I stink at getting the timing right, but I can bunny hop just fine in the single-player TES games-- at least, the ones that have Acrobatics as a skill, which are the only ones where it makes any sense to constantly jump while you run around everywhere, in order to level up Acrobatics.

While bots can be a thing, there's far, far less cheating in PvP then people would have you believe. Not saying there isn't any but it's far less prevalent then people crying about it would have you believe. Most reports are just people who were salty about losing. Death recaps in particular can be really deceiving especially with dsyncs, lag, and abilities from the sword and shield line which reflect your own attacks back at you making it appear as if the person is using stuff from two different classes (been personally called a cheater twice from that).

you guys are talking about the super jump.you've probably done it by mistake a few times as well.Zos has said its an exploit, but it can be done so easily that proving it's them exploiting it wouldn't be so easy.

there is "known" people in the pvp community that have been using super jump to maneuver around in fights for years.yea years.so if its super jump u are reporting don't expect too much to happen.

If you are going to quote me quote then whole thing and not a piece of it to make a point as if you are educating me on something, especially when my statement already addresses what you tried to point out.

    This is what I said

"Also screenshots of impossible combinations on your death recap though most people get this wrong when they see it - not understanding what the game and desync can do."

I specifically mention desyncs and the fact most get death recaps wrong. Please do not misquote others, just make your point without trying to play down others statements through misquotes.

I will never be sure that someone is a cheater. But there was once where I was almost certain. It happened in Cyro campaign and I was at the gate with my bow stamblade defending a keep. I know very well what damage my build can do, all its strengths and weaknesses. But that specific time, the situation was so strange I had to bring up my inventory to see if I had accidentally unequipped an armor or jwlry item that made my stats drop. Why? Because it was like I was doing zero damage to them. I was attacking specific players and their health wouldnt drop below 90%. It was like they were totally immune to damage. Poison injection, toxic barrage, lethal arrow, all pointless like If I was shooting them with 1k total weapon damage and 0 penetration. And damn, I ve playing in the same campaign for months and I ve killed many tanks. Never saw such a thing before. Never saw a player not having his health drop.

Pretty sure they don't reflect skills I don't use.

Of course, I'm not sure the death recap is accurate. I was insta-killed by a zerg not too long ago apparently by one guy who dropped 2 dawnbreakers on me and 2 whirling blades instantly.

  • Rianai

Dawnbreaker has direct dmg and dot and those 2 dmg components appear separate in the death recap, so having that skill twice in the recap isn't something unusual at all. And the death recap doesn't show time stamps and with how bad performance and all kinds of desyncs are, you can't rely on animations or other stuff you see (or don't see) on your screen. Combat log addons are the only thing that provide somewhat reliable information about what actually kills you.

(And with emp bonus and/or a lots of killing blows it is possible to drop back to back ultimates - that's also something to keep in mind when getting hit by 2 ults from the same player)

It’s called shimmering shield and a warden ability. When I see a bow user I’ll pop this to build ultimate and body block.

There definitely are cheaters. I don’t know why ZoS doesn’t do something about it really.

There’s a website devoted to cheating in MMOs, they should just look into people who have accounts on the website that match in game accounts as a start.

Typical ones I see are macroing break free, hitting people with melee attacks at range, and macros to dizzy - bash - executioner.

Not to be a downer, ZoS like many others deal and ban in waves, so they can build their programs to identify said cheats and correct exploits.
Sadly, cheats are always evolving, and pro-active, and since it is near impossible to identify new cheats, companies are forced to be re-active and build around what they find and catch.

But long as there are those willing to pay for said evolving cheats, companies will always be just a step behind, unless they can find certain aspect and go directly to court which only so far SEnix and Blizzard has been know to do and has a 50/50 record due to international laws.

I'm no super player, but as a programmer, I can see a hack when it's there. I'm not flawless, but around certain players, there is always a lag and 'one shot' kills. Some of these combos can't be done in the timeframe they are produced, even with lag.
Sudden disappearance, porting and super speed. Unlimited ultimate, resources and health. Some just won't die, no matter what you throw at them. even after you have hunted them and battled them you are never in a 'fight' so you can mount and run after them... These are all signs of cheating.

And if you have nothing to hide, you won't have a problem, if you were wrongly accused of cheating.

You can try to place a ticket - but from my experience don't expect them to give a rats ass or reply back unless its directly related to them getting more money out of you... or at least respond back in a timely fashion.

We have been plagued in the PVE world with cheaters/scammers who get reported multiple times yet continue to run about doing their nefarious actions with impunity, despite numerous reports, screenshots, and examples provided. On the other hand, if you repoort that you cant spend more money -- woahhh now, you get a live response and a support rep chatting with you in under 5 minutes haha

Anyways, sorry to hear about your problems & hope they can look into it for you eventually :disappointed:

Well that´s no problem with unlimited rss. I have experienced several times, that some players just auto dodge every arrow, spell and even aoe you throw at them. They are impossible to snare or even fossilize, they just magically and swift continue on as nothing happened. I´m sure I´m not the only one that have seen this, am i right?
