I have two templars that I PvP with and I have been effectively countered and killed many many times by all sorts of classes, but perhaps I am terrible at this game. I find my Sorc easiest to play, actually.

Someone needs to write up a guide detailing every Class's counters so everyone has an idea what to do when they get to be in OP's position. As far as I've ever seen, many people say "I play said class and I get countered all the time. I get beaten all the time, we don't need nerfs." but never actually say HOW they're countered.

Just last night I was in the Imp City engaging a Templar inside a house. Dude started doing the Jabs spam and I tried doing the whole "walk through them and they miss" thing. Didn't do crap. There's nothing my StamBlade can do to a Jabs spam short of trying to run away, but even then the first hit of Jabs is a snare, slowing you down. You CAN'T get away. It's an "I win" button.

playing as a templar myself (not a great one i might add) i find NB's tricky lil things to kill if they stay mobile, if you a vamp elusive mist will free you from the initial hit from jabs then i would maybe go with shadow cloak to either get some range (in case they cast a ritual of retribution) and ambush or just to kite for a surprise attack reducing resistance for next attack

Slot shuffle, forward momentum or race against time, mirage, fear them, use the annoying ass bow knockback cause i know you have a bow, use silver leash and dodge through them, or just dodge through them, slot your shade and use it, build for speed, use SnB and block it, roll dodge off balance cp and medium charged heavy attack, mist form...

My only problem with templars is how often Toppling bugs out and you can't CC break it. Which is not a templar problem, but a development problem.

And there is the famous Mist Mist Mist Ritual Mist Mist Mist combo. Which is also not a templar problem, just a player who can't kill you anyway.

ESO is pure trash as a PVP game because the floor is so high, resulting in extremely long TTKs (time to kill). Show me a popular PVP game with such ridiculous survivability. I used to be addicted to ESO PVP and now thinking about it makes me want to vomit. No joke.

It goes deeper than Templars. Starting around 2.4 ZOS made a concerted effort to "raise the floor and lower the ceiling" in ESO. This is a fact as those words, in context, have been used by senior ZOS devs. This means they engineered changes to gameplay with the purpose of reducing the amount of knowledge and skill required to be competitive while also limiting how effective the most knowledgeable and skilled players can be.

IMO, ESO PVP is mainly played by PVE-focused players motivated by the rewards. I don't think very many ESO PVP players enjoy other PVP games -- because they have lower floors and higher ceilings.

WoW is worse, healers don't run out of mana and are immune to damage unless 10 people are on them, when you swap to a dps target they just keep them alive all day instead. This makes BGs extremely frustrating because no CC can be held in big battles (lot of CC in WoW breaks on dmg) and in arena you literally have to wait for dampening (-% healing on a stacking timer) to kill anything. In ESO at least you can repeat a burst setup and not have to wait 3 minutes for your cooldown to do anything other than tickle. We haven't reached literal pve rotations in pvp quite yet.

Templar is exactly like the ret paladin , they are just an easy class to play. Every MMO has one of those because not everyone is good at games. I like my templar when I don't feel like tryharding, but I have no issues with them on my nightblade.. not more than other classes anyway.

We could instead be like GW2 where everything is an instakill 1shot.. I think ESO is in an ok spot

    Free snare on spammable.
snare only hits once then has a cool down

    Passive Healing.
sorcs have twilight burst heal, duel wield has passive heal from blood thirsty, warden have lotus blossom, Necro has spirit mender

    High Burst Potential.
all class's have a high burst potential just depends on how you build

Cheapest Ultimate due to its effectivity.
NB has Soul Harvest (70), sorc has Overload (25) wardens have Eternal Guardian (0), Dragon knights has leap (125)

    Insane utility.
wardens, necro's and sorc's all have awesome utility also.

    Unkillable tank healers.
heavy armour DK's, wardens, necro's and sorcs ALL have "unkillable" builds,

Half their skills cannot be dodged.
all class's have these type of skills.

    Where does this end?
when ppl (generic not specific) can see past their own failings and stop calling for nerfs .

    ^

I gotta add it goes both ways a lot of times, people asking for buffs because they haven't figured out how to make something work

cant argue with you there :)

Templars are the class I’ve killed the most. Maybe because there’s a bunch of them out there. I unno.

On my MagDk I’ve always run high damage and high pen. What I do is stay offensive and keep putting the dots and debuffs on them. It’s cheaper for me to put them on them than for them to take them off. Particularly, Ele Drain.

Run immovables of course. And Fossilize is your best friend. If you want to be evil. Run poisons. Give em something else to cleanse if...they can.

I bump into this lil AD Templar 3 man almost every day. 2 of the dudes I don’t know. 1 I know. He hates me, I hate him. I drop his two buddies and he takes off running.

He know if he stick around and try that line of sight crap on me...he gonna get DROPPED.

They nerfed defiles, they nerfed oblivion damage, they nerfed dots, they nerfed bleeds. So, yeah folks are tanky. Run pen to counter mitigation. Run damage to counter heals. Make em cleanse to drain their pools, run poisons if you’re evil. cc em. Run them in the ground if you hate them. Tbag them all!

Rat does nothing against sweeps/jabs if youve already been snared. It's good for the mobility but that's it vs templar. If rat is supposed to remove sweep/jab snare it doesnt. I noticed this several times last campaign

Use engine guardian. It splits the jabs damage.

Some counters people mention are BS. I completely agree, but engine guardian I found effective against me.

To the OP. Simple is good, at least in pvp. I’d rather focus on my surroundings then tracking buffs or some damage mini game.

Looking for any guildies I used to play with:
    Havoc Warhammer - Alair
LoC EQ2 - Mayi and Iskiab
PRX and Tabula Rasa - Rift - Iskiab
Or anyone else I used to play games with in guilds I’ve forgotten
