Maintenance for the week of March 3:
• PC/Mac: No maintenance – March 3
• NA megaservers for maintenance – March 5, 4:00AM EST (9:00 UTC) - 11:00AM EST (16:00 UTC)
• EU megaservers for maintenance – March 5, 9:00 UTC (4:00AM EST) - 16:00 UTC (11:00AM EST)
• ESO Store and Account System for maintenance – March 6, 6:00AM EST (11:00 UTC) - 4:00PM EST (21:00 UTC)

It's an absolute TRAVESTY that we have had no acknowledgement of the widespread ping increase

There are multiple threads. People have submitted tickets. It's been widely confirmed that post maintenance many players have seen their ping increase by 200+. I'm making another thread in the hopes that we get some form of interaction from the devs/CMs. Tell us that you at least are working on this because the game is nearly unplayable for any form of competitive content.

I was on 220 ping before Akamai made a return during yesterdays maintenance. Now I'm on 400-420. I won't be around for the next chapter if Akamai is back, it's impossible to enjoy the game in this state.

oh shock horror. so basically what i've been playing on since beta 2? how will you ever survive?

Imagine not seeing the point. My 275 ping isn't the point. The point is that ping has increased by 200+ for a vast population in the playerbase and ZOS hasn't addressed it. Keep on keeping on buddy.

You ASSUME it has increased for a "vast population", but if it did you would see far more post on the forums about it. I play on PC NA and my ping is absolutely 100% fine. 75-110 ms and not a single lag spike in hours of play. So its probably more localized and nothing to do with ZOS.

You also ASSUME that it hasn't increased for anyone except you. Do yourself a favour, go look here and here and see how the exact thing that's happening to the US, happened for Australia and other Oceanic countries, and wasn't addressed for a solid year. Even down the how large the jump in ping is, I remember logging off one night to the 300 ping I'd normally get, and logging on the very next day to 400-450 with spikes well beyond that.

There's dozens upon dozens of traceroute logs showing the route that traffic is taking and how that route impacts latency, in both cases. It even got so bad, that an Australian ISP started forcing traffic originating from ESO, coming through the network ports that ESO uses, over to the US, and anybody with that ISP saw their ping drop back down to normal.

You're right, it has nothing to do with ZoS. It has to do with the DDoS protection service used by ZoS & ESO. The fact that an ISP stepped in and fixed it, by doing the very same fix us Oceanic users did with our VPN's, shows it has to do with the DDoS protection service used by ZoS & ESO. It may not be part of the game, but ZoS absolutely has a responsibility here, since they are Akamai's customers. Akamai should have been dropped the moment the Oceanic issues started and became a common occurrence, or, at the least, contracts should have been renegotiated.

The type of "it's not happening to me / it doesn't matter to me therefore people should stop complaining / people deserve to be ridiculed" post you refer to is rife on these forums. They are the sort of troll / bait posts that start declining a thread until it gets shut down.

I'm not that clued up on this stuff but does Akami only handle NA servers?

I've ran pathping and trace from both NA and EU and EU seems like normal going from home to london (i'm uk based) to Germany all within 34ms. In game performance is fine as well and played after update yesterday with some PVP, BGs and a trial. Akami doesn't doesnt appear on my trace at all though. Is this expected?

NA though seems to be a totally different story, from what i can tell it goes via Holland then just times out. Logging into NA I normally get 120 ping in a town, now I'm around 200. Not horrible difference but it's hardly peak time for NA.

When EU gets screwed, everyone makes it clear they know ZOS is awful and technically inept. And I don't know what world a 200+ ping increase is "a bit more than normal", that's a ridiculously huge increase in latency, as much as a 150% increase for some.

We had trouble for more then a year in the EU. And now there is a slight problem with maintenance for the US (lets not discuss the horrible timing for the EU again), and suddenly everyone is mad as can be, while EU is still crap at best.

Oh, and dont forget that in all the time EU had trouble, all we heard from the US-players is that "it cant be that bad".

Wow are people actually defending ZOS and saying that people are complaining for no reason?

Are you guys suggesting we stop complaining and expecting things to be fix and be playable for the product we pay for?

Its an MMO, so when the Ping spikes or changes it make the game unplayable for some, for me its going from 100 to 999+ every few minutes on PC/NA

Some People have standards and self respect and they ask for what is reasonable for what they expect from a game they paid for.

People down playing the issues at hand about ping after the update, saying how they are tough enduring the issues, either are not experiencing the issues at hand or been beaten into submission and accept anything that comes their way.

Self-respect is about having the courage to stand up for yourself when you are being treated in a manner that is less than what you deserve.

My ping was around 160 ~ 200 max in non pvp maps.
Now it's 400+++ in every non pvp map.
If I go to cyrodiil it's completely unplayable.
Most wierd it's ZOS don't even talk about.

I'm just amazed that after all those trouble EU had in the past year (and beyond), and we hardly heard anything from the US playerbase. Now suddenly US is having (compared to the EU) a minor problem, and the world is ending. Its not the problem, or ZoS that I defend.

I just hate the hyprocisy that is being displayed here. And sorry for the bad spelling, not my native language.
