Can I improve shields?

I just crafted at a Hunding's Rage woodworking station a shield, but the shield does not say "Hundings Rage" nor can I upgrade it with resins.
Is this normal? The Hunding's Rage sword I was able to upgrade to legendary without issues.

✭You can craft normal non set items at a crafting station you made a normal shield. Not a Hunding’s RageChaos Shadow-Scale: Shadow Archer

I understand that but you can still craft “normal”
