What synergy do I avoid using as dps?

So if two people are standing in some synergies, only one can use some of them, right? I don’t group so I’m not sure which ones I should avoid using when killing a dragon for example. What should I leave for healers and tanks so I’m not “that chick” who pisses people off?

Leaving synergies for tanks is for advanced comp groups. In pugs, if you see it, use it.

    Hey Stabbity,

Use all of them. That's what they are there for. They're there for anyone to use. You can't bagsie them.

Most of the time if you don't use them they won't get used. Additionally, you will have a cool down that prevents you picking up another one for a short period, so if there are lots of potential synergies, you can't take them all anyway.

Taking a synergy only provides benefits for the group

One that people miss all the time is the charged lightning synergy from the sorcerer storm atronach ultimate. That gives 25% more damage done for 8 seconds. Crazy for a dps to pass on that. Of course, a lot of sorcerer players have so sense of where to place it. Usually stuffed way into the boss.

The only one I might not take as a dps is harvest, that one I'll only take if I need healing. As tank, I try to leave charged lightning for dps.

This, balls can now be used of all players, spears are at location and you should not stay next to the tank but behind boss, this has some exceptions like dragons but in an trial healer should used balls as people are stacked.
Other synergies tend to increase damage so all can use.
Grinding just make you go in circles.
Asking ZoS for nerfs is as stupid as asking for close air support from the death star.

Use every single synergy. They restore resources because of undaunted command. That's how you sustain in raid.

Orbs, Atro (Sorc), Spiders, Blood altar, Boneyard, Nova (Templar), Purify are fine to take, these either have the purpose of doing damage for dps, or can be used by multiple people.

Shards, Conduit, Totem are fine to take unless they're placed on the tank, in which case they'll be for Alkosh.

As a tank that pugs in Alkosh I love this question!!

But yeah, we are probably a rare breed and usually in pugs you should just use them. 😒

I tank for most of my time on this game. PvE synergies:

No hesitation: Orbs, black widows, atro synergy, talons and blood fountains synergies.
Gray area: purify, blessed shards, boneshield and Conduit
    No no: Holy shards

Best form of practice: always get atro and spiders. If other synergy stay up a bit grab to. Idk about most tanks but I have had ppl brag about being super fast about shard hording and never get it with me. As a tank synergies are your "boom" skills like frags, spectral or the stamsorc daggers. Its hard to steal that from seasoned tanks. Also if tanks don't have alcosh they don't need any synergy saved for them.

In most groups, just smash every synergy you can think of. There are some fights were you want to be careful about Resource Synergies or Alkosh (Tank) Synergies, but outside of an organized Trial group (where this would be discussed in advance), you shouldnt worry about it. The reality is, that especially in group finder, you shouldnt have a synergy reliant build in the first place, so nobody should be all that upset if you grab more than your share.

If you're in a Practicing/Progressive Time Trials group (PC) then this Addon might be useful for you:

    https://esoui.com/downloads/info2281-Synergy.html

    No more stealing synergies.

Dps will no longer be able to take synergies like Conduit and Harvest.
Tanks and healers won't be able to take dps synergies like Atro, Impale, Gravity Crush, etc.
Destructive Outbreak on The Warrior requires confirmation to use.

Options to disable Cloudrest portal, MA sigils, and BRP sigils.

Options for synergy restrictions when wearing Lokkestiiz or Alkosh.

To add, for my sanity (and this is strictly for overland dragons):
If you’ve been beef croissanted in a dragon fight, please, please use the purify I’ve put down, especially if I’ve run across the battlefield, braving flailing wings and tails, to get to you.

Altar in CR is for tonk only, usually LL as well, everything else is for you. Download the Synergy addon if you're in organised groups to prevent you from taking synergies if Alkosh isn't up on the boss (and to stop you from taking one on your backbar in Lokke)

Unless there is Templar dps in your group, Blessed Shards are typically thrown to the tank. Aside from that, use all of them. "Combustion" is multiuse synergy so you can use it without hesitate. Undaunted Command gives resources, and there is CP node that gives 3 ultimate, so click X as often as you can.

Those rules only apply in an organized group (like vet trials) and really only if your tank is wearing alkosh (they should).

Conduit and shards go to the tank. Sometimes there's contextual rules, like blood alter goes to the tank in vCR, but that's up to your raid leader to tell you.

Well, StabbityDoom, if I'm on my tank and throw shards at your feet it's because I want you to use them. I mean, I really enjoy imagining the confused looks of the damage dealers who aren't used to their tank being a templar who supports them with resources, but really... it's not just there for my amusement. They are there for you to use them.

As tank, avoid taking the Atronach synergy from the DDs. Other than that, pretty much everything is fair gain. As DD there's really no restriction.

As a tank and more often as a dps, I can't stand it when sorcs park that thing directly on top of the boss. We already know playing sorc is easy, just put a little more effort into parking it somewhere more group friendly.

If the healer is a templar and dropping shards at the feet of the tank, probably best to leave it for the tank (because it returns resources). But pretty much use all other synergies. Once you get more familiar with synergies you will know which ones are priority. In the meantime, if you see it, use it.
